The Space

Beautiful 1908 Craftsman home(upper apartment) in the heart of one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Portland. This is urban living at it's finest. Beautiful high end historic homes, gorgeous tree lined boulevards, wonderful people, and extremely close to many wonderful restaurants and shopping. This is one of the best neighborhoods in Portland without a doubt. The wonderful and energetic neighborhoods of Alameda, Beaumont-Wilshire, Concordia, Laurelhurst and Grant Park all surround Historic Irvington, but she is the Grand Dame of them all!

A car is not absolutely necessary, walk to the MAX(transportation system - 10 min.) and the bus line is around the corner. You are a 5-10 minute walk from 20 restaurants. 5 minutes walking to Lloyd Center and 8 minute walk to the Rose Quarter. Downtown/Pearl District is a 5 minute drive or 7 minutes on the MAX.

Your upper apartment has been completely restored with the original hardware. This home has been extensively remodeled in every way. Old world style, wood framed, dual pane windows keep the unit cozy in winter and cool in the summer.

The vast majority of the vacation rentals in Portland operate illegally, but this house has the coveted "Conditional Use" permit that the city requires in order to run a vacation rental for short term stays. This house is a legal B&B, but there are 3 separate, fully locked and functioning apartments in this house. There are no shared spaces

Our caretakers live onsite, tucked away in an apartment on the main level. Feel free to ask them for help at anytime.

No details have been spared with respects to furnishings, this is a real upscale home with all the accoutrements you would expect(or hope to have) in your own home. Viking range, stainless steel appliances, 32" flat screen TV, Bose stereo, Francis Francis X1 espresso machine, wireless internet, stainless steel cookware and handmade copper pots I brought back from the north of Italy!

This apartment occupies the 2nd and 3rd(attic) story of this house. The 2nd story is1000 sq feet, with the bedroom and the sunroom, kitchen and full bathroom. The 3rd story(attic) can be locked off to accomodate smaller parties. If the attic is desired, it is an additional 400 sq feet, with a queen bed and half-bath.

The backyard is available for the guests of this unit. It comes complete with an herb garden(for your cooking pleasure) pergola and built in stainless steel BBQ and sink. Enjoy Portland's weather in complete privacy. You will get our recommendations for activities and complimentary coffee and tea.

The unit is extremely luxurious as I guarantee you will want to come back again. This is a beautiful home, and we absolutely love it. We guarantee you will feel the same. Come and be part of our family as you sample all that Irvington Neighborhood and Portland has to offer!

Interaction with Guests

We do have caretakers on site, who live in the middle floor apartment. They are there for anything that you might need.

The Neighborhood

Irvington is the best neighborhood in PDX. Its on the national register of historic places. Beautiful houses and gardens abound.

Getting around

There is a bus stop 175 feet down the street from the house. The MAX is 8 min away.

Other Things to Note

We have a great herb and vegetable garden on the south side of the house

  • I've stayed here before and had a great time, nothing was different this time around! Such a beautiful home and in a fantastic neighborhood. If you want a true Portland home feel, this is the right place for you. The check-in/check-out process is so easy, the home is so quiet and comfy and clean, and they left us a fantastic bottle of wine and coffee :) Will definitely come back again (for the 3rd time!)

  • Great house and location! The house easily fit us (2 adults, 3 kids) where we could walk to the Trailblazers game, go shopping, and eat on Broadway. The house was very clean with all amenities. Would strongly recommend to all families!

  • Our party of 6 really enjoyed our recent stay at Irvington House! We traveled as a family of four, with two little kids, and a set of grandparents. There was plenty of room for all 6 of us - we didn't even use the 3rd bedroom on the main floor as the upstairs bedroom had two beds and was very spacious. The whole house is beautifully appointed and extremely clean. The on-site caretakers, Allie and Greg, were super wonderful! They enthusiastically answered a multitude of questions from bike trails to how to get to a local hospital. On street parking right in front of the house was always available. The neighborhood of Irvington is cool - a Whole Foods just .5 mi to the north, all kinds of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants to the south. Very close to NW, SE, downtown - no place on our itinerary was more than a 10 minute drive, really. Laundry facilities in the basement were clean and easy to use. My only word of caution would be that there are a lot of stairs. If you have an older contingent in your party, just keep that in mind. Everything else suited our needs perfectly! Thanks Mark, Allie and Greg!!

  • Beautiful home. The space was perfect for our family to gather for a wedding in Portland. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was very clean. We had plenty of space to hang our clothes and put in the beautiful dresser. We also rented the garden apartment and had access between the two without going outside which was convenient for us. We only had 6 people total between the two apartments but it could comfortably accommodate a few more.
Would definitely recommend staying here. There is an onsite caretaker who is readily available should anything come up.

  • Great place in a beautiful neighborhood. Whole foods down the street, plenty of good places to eat/drink within walking distance. Look forward to visiting Portland again and staying here.

  • The apartment indeed sleeps 6, with two sleeping in a very small sunroom (and one more could easily have slept in the bed in the attic room. For we six, this worked out very well. Location is terrific. Street is beautiful and walking around there was fun. Plenty of interesting and worthwhile restaurants close by. Live-in caretakers are friendly and helpful.
The apartment was amazingly well stocked with lots of little details, such as large assortment of spices, coffee, espresso (with a maker), even a little morning cereal, high quality cookware, plenty of dishware. Easy parking on the street for all three couples.
    We were very happy there.

  • My family and I very much enjoyed our one-night stay at this clean and charming house in the historic neighborhood of Irvington. The accommodations on the second and third floors were ample for our party of six, and the location was ideal for our excursion by car into the Pearl District.

MAX access was also easy; my girlfriend and I took the 27-minute ride on the Red Line from the airport to Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave. From there, it's a pleasant 10-minute walk through Holladay Park and up NE 15th Ave. Alternatively, you can catch the #8 bus at NE Multnomah St and NE 11th Ave, which ambles up NE 15th Ave to NE Thompson St.
