Please note- June- mid July 2014, the room is available with the inclusion of the main level of the house. The rate is negotiable, as it may include use of the main floor of the house (kitchen, living area and another bedroom, if you wish). Please contact me to discuss details if you are interested.
Just one block from San Miguel's famed "Instituto Allende" you'll find privacy and quiet in your own charming room with king-size bed and lovely Mexican-tiled bath with tub looking into the garden. The room is separate from the rest of the house with its own entrance. It's simple, but clean, comfortable and peaceful.
The house is an easy flat walk to the centre of town (about 10 minutes) and nearby, restaurants/cafes and shops are plentiful. The neighbourhood is very safe and the street well lit at night. Taxis are easy to get--$30-$35MEX (under $3 US) takes you to any address in town.
There is wireless internet on the property, however this has proven not to be accessible by all devices. (works for my Macbook Pro) Guests are welcome to use the main house if necessary(or sit enjoying the garden...) to get internet access. The square in the centre of town also has free wifi as do many local cafes. If you don't want to bring your computer, there are several internet cafes close by so you can pop in and check your email, but otherwise remain un-plugged
An additional bedroom is available in the house- please enquire if needed. This room is available for short stays only.
Sorry, no smoking permitted. No pets. For stays of 1 week or longer, guests are welcome to do ONE load of laundry per week at no extra charge. There is a washing machine and clothesline (NO DRYER). There are full service laundries within a block of the house, as well.
Cleaning service can be arranged, at a reasonable additional fee, for 150pesos weekly. (based on weekly stay)
*** enquiries regarding special requests always welcome***
FOr stays of 2 weeks or more, rate includes light use of kitchen.
For shorter stays, please enquire about use of kitchen-- I am a cook and many days it is my work space so we'd have to work that out.
Breakfast is not included here-- this is because I sometimes have a demanding schedule in the mornings and because there are plenty of other local options. I do enjoy interacting with guests and do my best to be available to respond to questions and needs as they come up.

Margret was a great host, and her place was a tranquil, hidden gem tucked away from the bustle of San Miguel de Allende. Her room was extremely clean, comfortable, and attractive, and provided more than enough room for one or two people. Margret was incredibly gracious and inviting. She helped me plan excursions and readily offered a valuable insider's perspective on best places to eat and visit. She even made me a soothing hot tea when my stomach didn't feel right. Margret's space and hospitality was the best decision I made all trip!
We (party of 2) had a lovely stay in Margret's private garden suite. The space is very comfortable, literally right next to the garden--just lovely. Location is very convenient for walking around San Miguel. Margret was friendly and attentive with us, providing several excellent recommendations on restaurants and museums. Thanks Margret!
Margret was a kind, helpful and friendly host. Her garden suite is on a quiet residential street close to the heart of town, and the peaceful enclosed garden is there for you to enjoy.
Margret was a great source f information for local events and happenings, always willing to be of assistance with good ideas and directions, especially to the best eateries in town, (which aren't necessarily the most expensive ones).
I had a wonderful stay there, and thoroughly recommend it to anyone who would like to discover the magic of this wonderful town!
I enjoyed my five day stay. The room Margret offers is separate from the house and nestled in a little garden, charming. January is cool at night, but she provided a nice warm quilt (duvet), and there is a gas heater. Everything is located within a short walk--restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, art institute, gym, taxis, buses, etc. Margret is attentive and is a delight to chat with.
Margret is a wonderful host! She's friendly and likes to share her experiences in Mexico and SMA to let you enjoy your stay and maximize your time. She's a great cook and she's knows about everything about every aspect of the Mexican cuisine and its ingredients!
