About this listing
This two bedroom townhouse is in a peaceful location next to the Maitai River, but only minutes walk to town. An ideal city retreat for couples or friends. Sleeps 4.
Riversong is a two bedroom townhouse located next to the beautiful Maitai River which flows through Nelson City. This peaceful location in the quiet residential neighbourhood of The Wood is right on the edge of the central city, a mere five minute walk to Nelson's rich array of cafes, shops and restaurants.
This two bedroomed townhouse is fully equipped to ensure that it feels like a home away from home. The sunny living room has windows to the north and west ensuring all day sun. With views over the flower filled garden to the tree-lined Maitai River this is a wonderful spot to relax with a book, listen to some music via the iPod dock or watch a DVD or selection of TV channels on Freeview on the 32" LED flat screen TV. The living room also has a dining table to seat 4 people and is semi-open plan to the kitchen.
The kitchen is compact and quirky but ever so cute! The lino flooring and cabinetry may be retro, but it's clean and tidy and fully equipped with a hob, oven, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. Pantry basics such as tea, coffee, herbs, spices and olive oil are provided along with cling film, tin foil, kitchen roll etc. However if you've forgotten anything the nearest supermarket is only a 3 minute walk away...or there's the Organic Greengrocer, the Milton St Dairy, Milton St fish and chip shop or the Sprig and Fern pub (Hospitality NZ winner of the best bar in NZ!) just 2 mins walk away.
The two bedrooms have comfortable beds (one queen, one double) and feature top quality hotel-style crisp white cotton sheets. Each bedroom has a built in wardrobe, alarm clock, bedside tables and bedside lights.
The brand new bathroom features a shower, wall hung vanity, heated towel rail, extractor fan, mirror cabinet and toilet. There is a washing machine and outside clothes line for drying laundry, and washing powder and fabric conditioner are provided.
The peaceful flower filled garden at the front of the property gets all day sun, has a dining table and chairs and has lovely views across to the river. (Check out the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Street View on the listing to get a great 360 degree view of the area). For picnics there are 4 camp chairs and a chilly bag to keep your goodies cool.
Sizzle some steak on the barbeque and pour yourself a glass of one of Nelson's fine wines and make this city retreat your home for a few days....or longer!
Guests have exclusive use of the whole property including the sunny front garden.
Interaction with guests
As a self contained property there is little interaction. However I am happy to greet on arrival and chat about any questions they might have about their stay or the area.
Due to proximity to the river and low fencing Riversong is not suitable for children under 9 years of age or pets (if you're missing your pooch from home you can walk our black lab Pepper, she'd love you for it!) Smoking is allowed outside only - please dispose of butts in the bin and not the flowerbeds. Parking is freely available on the quiet street outside the property - there is a tiny carport at the back but access is very narrow and turning is not possible so to avoid damage to your vehicle or my fences I'd strongly advise against it!! Probably goes without saying that you'll look after the place as if it was your own and respect the fact there are neighbours in close (URL HIDDEN) no parties or additional overnight guests beyond those booked. : )
Cancel up to 7 days before your trip and get a 50% refund. Cancel within 7 days of your trip and the reservation is non-refundable.
Hi, we're Roz and Mario! I emigrated to New Zealand from Scotland in 2002 attracted by Nelson's wonderful climate and lifestyle....the lure of the wine industry and the anticipation of supporting a rugby team that won occasionally! Mario was born and raised in Nelson and returned home after working in North Island and the UK.
Our love of meeting people and sharing what the Nelson region has to offer combines perfectly with a passion and pride in furnishing and decorating to provide a comfortable home away from home for guests. Having travelled widely and rented holiday homes and B&Bs ourselves, we know what's important when you're away from home: cleanliness, a relaxing outdoor space, comfortable beds and top quality linen for a great night's sleep, and provision of the "little things" like pantry basics, kitchen roll, first aid kits and sharp kitchen knives!
You'll find a folder in the property with lots of recommendations of what to do and where to eat in Nelson - after all we want you to have the best possible time here! We live just round the corner so we're as close...or as far away as you want us to be!
