Well this was my first place I stayed in Bali and it wasn't totally what I expected. I felt the charge for the rooms was a little high for what you get and only realized this once I visited other places. I also felt disregarded, most especially since I was single. I was encouraged to attend the activities another group had organized. There was confusion with Putu on the "package" deal vs individual items and it's really not worth it to do anything but the package. Communication was not clear either at the beginning and when I asked for clarification when I arrived I was advised to "go with the flow". I don't like being put in a spot where I am left to rely on the whimsy of the host to find out I'm being charged for every single item without it being transparent. It is nice to have a village experience and usually it's what I look for when I travel. Next time, as I will do from now on, is to just wing it. There are amazing spots in Bali and the rest of my trip was truly fantastic.
We had a great stay at Bamboo cottages. Zanzan is a special individual, he very is focused and involved in helping his community. By staying here you will be giving something back. One of Zanzan's dreams is to build a library for local children and we saw it starting to go up during our stay. You can enjoy amazing walks through nearby rice fields with amazing views to the ocean and the mountains or stroll down through the local village. Food is supplied by Zanzan's Mother who is a specialist cook , every meal was plentiful and superb. We were very well looked after with fresh coconuts off the tree and a tour of local sights including the waterfall, local blacksmiths and the bio-gas farm. Putu was not present during out stay but she communicated efficiently with us when we were booking and answered all our questions, we hope to meet her next time.
We stayed for 2 nights at the Bamboo Cottage and it was one of our best memory in Bali. After the agitation of Kuta, it was a breathe to stay in Sudaji. Putu, Zan Zan and his mother were so welcoming and all the people of the village will be happy to show you the richness of their land. Here you are connected with what is really Bali and you will not see other tourists.
The food prepared with local organic products were very good and eat is a really sharing moment with all the guests invited by Zan Zan (thanks for the holy cocktail!!!).
Also cottages are very nice and clean and you have all what you need to have a good rest.
Thanks for all and see you soon!

About the Host, Putu
Hello, my husband Zanzan and I are passionate about connecting friends and guests from all around the world with the beauty and potential that our rural Balinese village has to offer. After working in the hospitality business for many years (i.e. The Ritz-Carlton, Hilton, Arma Group and Fivelements), Zanzan now devotes his time to his hometown Sudaji in Northern Bali. Organic farming, more effective trash removal systems, the many benefits of yoga meditation, and the importance of the English language to our youth are among the numerous projects that he is invloved in.
As native Balinese, we love welcoming new friends into our home and doing whatever we can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
