Due for 'off the grid' accommodation development in 2014 this undeveloped land in rural setting (offered as a camping site) is 12,000 square feet in size and accessed by unpaved roads. There is power supplied to the area, but as there is no dwelling there is no connection onsite. It is mostly flat land surrounded by lush greenery and natural beauty. Neighbours exist, but are rare and well spaced, offering privacy.

With its size of just under 320,000 acres (1,300 km2), Puna is slightly smaller than the island of Kauaʻi.

Ms Sweetie is an excellent hostess. The apartment was charming, and the neighbors were lovely. She had us completely set up with basic groceries so we didn't have to go to the shops immediately after a long flight. She thought of everything; she even provided us with a cell phone to use whiie we were there!
The host canceled my reservation 58 days before arrival.

I really enjoyed my stay at the apartment. The only reason I have rated this 4 stars and not 5 is because there was a bit of discomfort before arriving, because Ms Sweetie said that there could be problems with the neighbors, and she was not really sure if her landlord was ok with her renting it out in this fashion.
Once I got there, though, there were no issues. The apartment was well-equipped and Ms Sweetie was a great host, taking care of lots of things, and showing us around to the area and pointing out where to shop and eat, and where other services were.
The apartment is very close to the train and the shops, the neighborhood is nice, and I loved the smell of the flowers as I walked around! Really enjoyed my stay.
Ms Sweetie was a lovely host and very easy to deal with. The flat was a comfortable and clean environment - very nicely presented and I felt at home.
It was a pity that I had to leave abruptly, however during this time the host was very easy to communicate with and very fair.
I FOUND THE ACCOMMODATION TO BE VERY COMFORTABLE AND WELL SET UP AS WELL AS BEING VERY CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO SHOPS AND TRANSPORT. SHERRI WAS ALSO VERY HELPFUL AND MOST CONCERNED THAT ALL WAS OK, WHICH WAS MUCH APPRECIATED. THE UNIT WAS ALSO SECURE AND THE AREA FELT SAFE. I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND SHERRI'S ACCOMMODATION AND SHERRI AS HOST AND INTEND TO STAY AGAIN IF THE TIMING FITS,
