My wife and I did not have the opportunity to meet Eric during our stay. We were let in by a fellow guest and it seemed like Eric wasn't ever actually there. Unfortunately, that meant that we did not know where to turn when a fellow guest decided to invite over a friend and get drunk, use drugs and keep us up all night. In his own words he was "staying up, roasting joints". On multiple occasions he offered his friend heroine which she fortunately declined.
The guest's name was Ben and he was supposedly a friend of Eric's. He was also supposedly a drug dealer in Manhattan and also a very big moron. We really did not appreciate him being below us in the sala where we could hear every last word and the terrible stench of weed could seep up through the floorboards. Around 3:00 we asked him very politely if he would let us sleep and in return he began to yell profanities and tell us we were being ridiculous. The whole experience was honestly a terrible one and my wife and I left the next morning feeling furious about our stay and wanting to never use Airbnb again.
We really wish there had been some kind of authority and supervision over the place to prevent idiot guests from behaving like this. Really, if we had wanted to be exposed to drugs, alcohol, profanities, verbal abuse, and get zero sleep and also feel like we were in danger, we could have just slept out in the gutter. Looking back on it, I'd probably recommend the gutter over this experience.
Very sorry Brandon a bad experience! The night he was referring to was very strange as I receive different stories from different parties about what actually happened. Usually tenants are able to regulate themselves and this sort of thing is not an issue. I could have managed the situation had i been contacted. I was unaware of what was going on until the next morning and my then it was too late. I would like the reader to know that this was an isolated incident and had not happened once in the 3 years prior while managing Casa Del Sol.
Everything was nice! Beautiful Rooms, very nice and clean kitchen. Location is perfect and Eric was very friendly - gave us free drinks in the Cafe No Se!
I had a good stay in Casa del Sol. Eric always gave me information for everything I needed to know.
The room is very basic but enought, but expect nothing fancy. There is a nice little patio. Wifi is working good, exept of power loss from time to time, but this is just normal in Antigua.
The house is located like 5 blocks from the main plaza. It's ok, not to far away but also not in the heart of the city.
The kitchen is quite dirty, especially the fridge. Also the bathroom. Ther is a maid coming 3 x a week, but it's just to less for the amount of people living there.
My overall experience is ok, but nothing more.
From day one it was a great atmosphere staying (website hidden) really went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and help in anyway possible.

About the Host, Eric
My name is Eric I live and work in ever enchanting Antigua, Guatemala. I do accounting/bookkeeping for Ilegal Mezcal. Mezcal is like tequila.. but WAY better. I also have a leather works company called Hide & Drink. Both you can find on the book of faces :-)
I take a 'less is more' stance to hotel/property management. I like my guest to feel like the house is theirs. That being said, please message me with any questions regarding the house or Antigua that might cross your mind.
Things to do in Antigua:
- you much visit Cafe No Se and try our world class Ilegal Mezcal. Feel free to put a shot of Ilegal Joven on my tab if you make it back to the Mezcal Bar. My tab is called 'Eric Bama' Enjoy!
- Earth Lodge is also a super chill avocado farm/hostel. Live music ever Sunday.
- Chocolate museum on 4th Calle. Can't remember what it's actually called but the chocolate is awesome!!
