Stylish and comfortable little room, next to the Underground station, in colourful and fashionable Notting Hill, just off the buzzing Portobello Road ; Located within minutes of all the amenities of Central London, only 15 minutes from St Pancras International Eurostar station and multiple connections for direct transfers from the 6 London airports.

Two young French men of thirty something, one designer, one restaurateur, living in a beautiful flat, in this little corner of London for over 10 years, curious about others, eager for good food, good wine, books, travel, art and design welcome you in a real little boudoir, the Portobello Room which, as its name suggests is located only a stone's throw the world famous Portobello Road.
The friendly couple will answer all your questions to make your stay in London easier.

Close to Ladbroke Grove underground station (about 3 minutes walk), which takes you in about twenty minutes from Notting Hill to all the London's main attractions; Also getting on board of one of the numerous bus lines can also be a nice way to discover the city and its most compelling places.

Please note that it is more likely that we can be sure of availability of the room quite close to the time of your booking, rather than months in advance. Thank you for your understanding!

Notting Hill is definitely more than just the setting for a famous movie. You will fall in love with this cosmopolitan part of London, its leafy streets, its multiple works by the artist Banksy, its yearly carnival (the Portobello Room is located right on the route of the Notting Hill carnival), its flea market, its colourful facades and its multiple eccentricities. No visit to London would be complete without spending a few days here.

Notting Hill's diverse cultural scene stems from a rich musical and political heritage.
We couldn't recommend more our neighbourhood which still holds so much uniqueness to enjoy with its cross-cultural cuisine. We're talking Moroccan, Italian, Mexican, Ethiopian, Persian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Indian, Lebanese, Palestinian, traditional British and gastro-pub restaurants, hot food stalls and delis.

Public transports:
-Underground:
Ladbroke Grove (Circle Line + Hammersmith and City Line), only 3 minutes walk from the Portobello Room.
Holland Park (Central Line) down the road, at the beginning of Ladbroke Grove, about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the Portobello Room.
Alternatively, Notting Hill gate station is right at the other end of Portobello Road, a beautiful daily walk that doesn't take a long time if you decide not to stop at every single little boutiques that make this street so special.

-Buses: (all the buses are on our doorstep)
-Route 7 (Little Venice, Oxford Street, Soho, British Museum...)
-Route 23 (Little Venice, Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Saint Paul Cathedral, Tate Modern, Brick Lane, Spitalfields Market...)
-Route 52 (Kensington Palace, High Street Kensington, Royal Albert Hall, Exhibition Road, Knightsbridge, Harrod's, Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, Buckingham Palace)
-Route 70 (Kensington Palace, High Street Kensington, Royal Albert Hall, National History Museum, Science Museum, Victoria&Albert Museum...)
-Route 228 (Holland Park, Westfield Shopping Center...)
-Route 295 (Westfield Shopping Center, Stamford Bridge...)
-Route 316 (Westfield Shopping Center, Hampstead...)
-Route 452 (Kensington Palace, High Street Kensington, Royal Albert Hall, Exhibition Road, Knightsbridge, Harrod's, Sloane Square, Battersea Park, Chelsea...)

-Cycle Hire
Blenheim Crescent and All Saints Road are our nearest docking stations. (5 minutes walk from the Portobello Room)

Some walk lovers will pace up and down Portobello market and then stroll about Hyde Park, one of the green lungs of the city, which leads, at its north east corner to the shopping mecca, Oxford Street, or further south, to Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Others will prefer to visit Regents Park, wandering along the Regent's Canal, which will lead to punk neighborhood Camden Town via the romantic Little Venice. The more adventurous will discover the BoBo area of Kensal Rise with its antique shops and coffee places. `
To get the real feel of the neighbourhood, it is worthwhile to move beyond the street market and the images conjured up by the eponymous movie, and walk down some of the streets away from Portobello Road and Notting Hill Gate. Just spending a day in the boutiques of Ledbury Road and Westbourne Grove, or whiling away time people watching in one of the many cafes and bars will help you appreciate why the area has become one of London's most popular and expensive places to live.

And for the shopping lovers, the Portobello Room is at equal distance (and by foot!) of two top shopping destinations: Westbourne Grove and Westfield.
Westbourne Grove offers the elegance of its boutiques and cafes (Paul Smith, Orlebar Brown, Nicole Farhi, Miller Harris, Smythson, Vilebrequin, James Perse, Maje, Loft, Heidi Klein, Matches, Daylesford Organic, Bonpoint, Ventilo, Club Monaco, Aesop, Helmut Lang, Diptyque, Agent Provocateur, Aubin & Wills, Beach Blanket Babylon...), whilst Westfield offers a unique shopping experience in Europe with, in a very same place, restaurants, cinemas and prestigious brands (Dior, Prada, Versace, Burberry, Missoni, Gucci, Louis Vuitton ...), some more popular (Hollister, Apple, Gilly Hicks, Topshop, Topman, COS...) and of course, those inescapable (All Saints, The Kooples, Fred Perry, Gant, Reiss, Uniqlo...).

But ultimately, your stay at the Portobello Room will allow you to fulfill all your desires at lower cost in a friendly and stylish atmosphere, whether you are in London for leisure or business.

In the room, a hair dryer, an umbrella, some mineral water, a kettle and some tea bags are at your disposal alongside some maps and 8 pages of great tips that we managed to gather in order to make your stay in London unforgettable.

You're very likely to get your enquiry declined if your profile is blank, without a full face picture and decent description. The Portobello Room

London, United Kingdom · Member since April 2011

Now, a little something about us…

We are Nico & Jean, two French guys in their thirties ; One designer, the other one restaurateur. We've been living for 15 years in what we think is the most exciting city in the world, London. And when we're not Home in London, we're very likely to be in our beautiful Italy.

Both non-smoker, we like a nice, clean and quiet place. We strongly believe that simple things done well are always the best.
Our main interests: Art & design, food & fine wines, opera, history, great outdoors, philosophy, politics... i.e. the finest things that life has to offer!

What we like best about travelling is engaging with the local people and culture, to eat the food, attempt the language, catch a local bus or train, and so on. We absolutely love to hear other people's stories.
It's great to see the likes of the Great Wall of China or the Pyramids, but lasting memories come from the wonderful connections you make along the way.

We're easy going, very considerate, clean and trustworthy. I think you'll find us friendly and unpretentious, and very respectful of your time and space.

Also, we are Airbnb Superhosts (see pink and yellow badge) - We've been hosting on Airbnb for over 3 years ; it's been a wonderful and invaluable experience.
We have over 100 reviews now and quite a lot of absolutely terrific people along the way. When we go through them all, it just seems like we've been doing this forever.

These are the moments that make Airbnb super special and restore faith in humanity! Everybody should give it a go ; a truly life-changing adventure in so many ways.

Please have a look at our listing ; What we offer is a stylish and comfortable little room, in colourful and fashionable Notting Hill, just off the buzzing Portobello Road, located within minutes of all the amenities of Central London, right next to the underground station. Surely the best deal in town!

In the meantime, feel free to ask us any questions you might have.
