Stylish and comfortable little room, next to the Underground station, in colourful and fashionable Notting Hill, just off the buzzing Portobello Road ; Located within minutes of all the amenities of Central London, only 15 minutes from St Pancras International Eurostar station and multiple connections for direct transfers from the 5 London airports.
Notting Hill is definitely more than just the setting for a famous movie. You will fall in love with this cosmopolitan part of London, its leafy streets, its multiple works by the artist Banksy, its yearly carnival (the Portobello Room is located right on the route of the Notting Hill carnival), its flea market, its colourful facades and its multiple eccentricities. No visit to London would be complete without spending a few days here.
We couldn’t recommend more our neighbourhood which still holds so much uniqueness to enjoy with its cross-cultural cuisine. We’re talking Moroccan, Italian, Mexican, Ethiopian, Persian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Indian, Lebanese, Palestinian, traditional British and gastro-pub restaurants, hot food stalls and delis.
Two young French men of thirty something, one designer, one restaurateur, living in a beautiful flat, in this little corner of London for over 10 years, curious about others, eager for good food, good wine, books, travel, art and design welcome you in a real little boudoir, the Portobello Room which, as its name suggests is located only a stone's throw the world famous Portobello Road.
The friendly couple will answer all your questions to make your stay in London easier.
Close to Ladbroke Grove underground station (about 3 minutes walk), which takes you in about twenty minutes from Notting Hill to all the London's main attractions; Also getting onboard of one of the numerous bus lines can also be a nice way to discover the city and its most compelling places.
Some walk lovers will pace up and down Portobello market and then stroll about Hyde Park, one of the green lungs of the city, which leads, at its north east corner to the shopping mecca, Oxford Street, or further south, to Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Others will prefer to visit Regents Park, wandering along the Regent's Canal, which will lead to punk neighborhood Camden Town via the romantic Little Venice. The more adventurous will discover the BoBo area of Kensal Rise with its antique shops and coffee places. `
To get the real feel of the neighbourhood, it is worthwhile to move beyond the street market and the images conjured up by the eponymous movie, and walk down some of the streets away from Portobello Road and Notting Hill Gate. Just spending a day in the boutiques of Ledbury Road and Westbourne Grove, or whiling away time people watching in one of the many cafes and bars will help you appreciate why the area has become one of London’s most popular and expensive places to live.
And for the shopping lovers, the Portobello Room is at equal distance (and by foot!) of two top shopping destinations: Westbourne Grove and Westfield.
Westbourne Grove offers the elegance of its boutiques and cafes (Paul Smith, Orlebar Brown, Nicole Farhi, Miller Harris, Smythson, Vilebrequin, James Perse, Maje, Loft, Heidi Klein, Matches, Daylesford Organic, Bonpoint, Ventilo, Club Monaco, Aesop, Tom's, Helmut Lang, Diptyque, Anne Fontaine, Agent Provocateur, Aubin & Wills, Beach Blanket Babylon...), whilst Westfield offers a unique shopping experience in Europe with, in a very same place, restaurants, cinemas and prestigious brands (Dior, Prada, Versace, Burberry, Gucci, Louis Vuitton ...), some more popular (Hollister, Apple, Gilly Hicks Topshop, Topman, COS...) and of course, those inescapable (All Saints, The Kooples, Fred Perry, Gant, Reiss, Uniqlo...).
But ultimately, your stay at the Portobello Room will allow you to fulfil all your desires at lower cost in a friendly and stylish atmosphere, whether you are in London for leisure or business.
In the room, a hair dryer, an umbrella, some mineral water, a kettle and some tea bags are at your disposal alongside some maps and 8 pages of great tips that we managed to gather in order to make your stay in London unforgettable.
Ladbroke Grove (Circle Line + Hammersmith and City Line), only 3 minutes walk from the Portobello Room.
Holland Park (Central Line) down the road, at the beginning of Ladbroke Grove, about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the Portobello Room.
Alternatively, Notting Hill gate station is right at the other end of Portobello Road, a beautiful daily walk that doesn't take a long time if you decide not to stop at every single little boutiques that make this street so special.

For those who want to enjoy London outside the busiest tourism in a charming apartment in the middle of Notting Hill, this is the place!
Niko and Jean are excellent hosts. An apartment full of art, culture, good conversation, good tips from the city, good music and the best breakfast a airbnb can provide.
nico and jean appartment is really very nice and tastefully furnished and equipped. the room very pleasant and comfortable with all the amenities' you would expect.
jean very careful in the preparation of breakfast, and nico careful to give the information that may be useful to the visitor. But sin 'to the cold artificial non-spontaneous atmosphere and attitude of the owners. the feeling of being a guest and you do not feel at home. not always have so much beauty around does not mean being able to create pleasant atmosphere. Anyway very clean, perfectly located for transport and portobello, and perfect for anyone who spends a lot of time walking around London.
Nico & Jean are outstanding hosts that make you feel welcome at all times. Friendly, genuine, intelligent, and attentive to detail, they will make you enjoy your stay with them to the fullest.
I stayed for a week at the cosy Portobello room in their brightly sunlit, nicely decorated, and perfectly located Notting Hill appartment. The room is perfectly clean (and cleaned daily ; more than once even!), smells like heaven, and has everything you may need during a short London stay.
Breakfast is home made, healthy, and delicious. I'm definitely stealing some recipes from Jean. They both gave me great advice of things to see and restaurants to go to and that was highly appreciated. Jean and Nico were also nice enough to spare their time and grab dinner with me and chat at a delightful neighborhood Italian place.
To sum up, I had an immense pleasure of staying with such nice people , and would definitely advise any (nice) person to stay at their lovely home.
There would be so much to write about this amazing experience..let's start from the place itself: ordinate, clean, tidy, perfectly organized. The room is super nice and has everything a guest would look for. Nico and Jean really think about everything..hair dryer, travel adapters, water, wine!!, glasses, tea-set, loads of towels and a special London guide written by Nico and Jean themselves can be found in the room, a guest can't really ask for more!!
The breakfast: hand made by Jean, is absolutely amazing...fresh fruits, hand made marmalade, fresh yogurt, orange juice, coffee, tea, bread, and Jean is always ready to bring you basically whatever you want!! You just need to tell the guys what time you are planning to have it, and you'll wake up with a super tasty breakfast ready to be eaten ;)
The house itself is astonishing in term of cleanliness, the care about the details, furniture, and overall style of the house is superb.
Last but not least..Nico and Jean are really fantastic people, it's nice to have a chat with them, they are always ready to suggest you where to go or what to do, they know secrets about the surrounding area or London in general that are impossible to find on guides or even on internet. Really amazing people!
We can't wait to go to the portobello room again! Flawless!!!
PS: they even gave us two umbrellas!
I spent several days with Jean and Nico, I was pleasantly surprised on my arrival by a helping hand with my large case after a long day travelling. The property was pristine and very homely. Loved the individual touches to the interior design, very cool !! I loved the bathroom, exceptionally clean and better than a lot of hotels I would have frequented down the years. Little touches like a cabinet for toiletries and lots of hand towels and soft linens were very nice.
I have to say that the guys really are house proud and felt like staying in a home away from home. Both very helpful and informative regarding local amenities and attractions. Thanks for the bottles water after long hot days in London :)
I would have no hesitation staying here again and recommending to friends needing a place to stay.
Lucky me! I was honored to have a 2nd stay with Jean and Nico at the Portobello Room. This is just my cup of tea: personal style and hospitality, without hovering. The small room is fabulously outfitted with electric kettle, bottled water, bedside lamp for reading, and charming window overlooking the quiet street scene.Everything WORKS. I love that. Their apartment is FAB, best taste and flair, the bathroom is impeccable, and the best part is the hosts themselves. THANK you again guys, for sharing your space with me. Friends around the world, bravo. I'm afraid to share that they boast the most superb breakfast in the UK. Not gonna say what i had. A bientot!
This stands out as our first airbnb to exceed our expectations. Everything about our stay was even better than the listing implied. We were grateful for the hospitality, especially the morning breakfast and thoughtful locals guide. The location is just far enough off the beaten path to make for an oasis but not too far to enjoy very pleasant experiences. I've been telling all of our friends how much pleasure this stay added to our trip.
Nico & Jean are the perfect hosts - they arranged every detail of the apt to offer a fantastic experience in London. My husband and I stayed for 2 days and everything was as described. Their recommendations were excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. Overall absolutely lovely, and a true gem for those who appreciate art and design - We would love to come back and stay with them for longer next time!
I stayed at The Portobello Room with my girlfriend Harriet and it is safe to say that this was the most perfect first experience with Airbnb that we could've wished for.
Nico and Jean are flawless hosts; two of the nicest and most wonderful people that you could wish to meet. They made us feel right at home straightaway and we felt more than comfortable asking them for advice and had some lovely conversations.
The flat is in the most perfect position; a stones throw away from Portobello Road, right in the heart of Notting Hill, little traffic and the most picturesque view that you can imagine.
Jean's breakfast was absolutely delightful with lovely fresh fruit and yoghurt. The flat is spotless and the room has everything that you could need- including a very helpful London guide written by Nico and Jean themselves (much better than the generic Lonely Planet guides).
All in all the most perfect stay imaginable and a must stay for anyone wanting to visit London.
Thanks again Nico and Jean, we will hopefully see you again very soon!
Another perfect stay with the perfect hosts!
