Bright Studio in buzzing Central

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong

The Space

Hi, I have a bright open view studio flat which is located in one of the best areas in Central. You have direct access to the pulsating melting pot of Soho with all the delicious restaurants, bars, clubs and Hong Kong's best coffee shop (Hazel&Hershey on Peel Street) is just around the corner. It's a 1 min walk to The Centre building (taxistand!), the escalator, NoHo area. It's in one of the last places in Central that still has small shops and street markets. I'm on the 4th floor of a low rise, walk up building (no lift nor elevator!).
The studio is super-bright, spacious enough for two people, tidy and you will hardly find a better place for a reasonable price like this.
I believe in great sleep so I've got a queen size bed with a proper matress ( and an extra airbed because it's airbnb! ) and I believe in a great shower, so hot water and enough pressure (the bathroom is tiny so the toilet and shower are close together) and nice soap and shampoo.
The flat has a hot plate and some basic kitchen stuff, a small 3 in 1 breakfast maker, a washing machine, a big desk, a scale so you can weigh your bags, airconditioning and a ceiling fan above the bed (since I don't like aircon when I sleep) It has free high speed Wifi and a small fridge. I think that's it..oh, and I vowed to keep the Ikea level below the 10%.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Excellent for more experienced or relaxed travellers on their own or close couple, perhaps not for those wanting hotel style comforts. Location at the heart of Hong Kong, easy walking to transport, harbour and food/drink. Place is clean and simple, good bed and fan, good shower and simple kitchen/fridge set up, good Wifi and Peter very clear and helpful host. Things to be aware of: it is on the 4th floor up stairs so not for the unfit. The staircase is typical Hong Kong so not particularly well maintained so may put off first time visitors but really nothing to worry about. In the reviews, there is some mention of external building noise. Having lived in HK for many years, you get this everywhere on the island, even most exclusive places, and it is not on a road so little traffic noise. Other thing to note is shower/toilet is very small space opening off bedroom - toilet will get wet when you shower so need to plan things, especially if a couple I suspect. Overall pleased and would certainly consider going back.

  • This Studio is really central in Hong Kong City. From there we could explore the whole city. We (3 persons) loved it to stay there for 4 days. If i come back to Hong Kong i will live there again. Thank you Peter for your studio.

  • The room was nice and cosy. Reasonably easy to find from the MTR station. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and Peter was easy to contact. The toilet was a bit cramped for my liking and the shower will always wet the toilet seat but I am aware that most of Hong Kong is like this so this is not a major issue. The water heats up quickly and there's enough to go around. There provided towels on the bed so that was lovely to have and use.

Only gripe was the noise from outside the apartment that went on till late. So if you are a light sleeper please be prepared to bring ear plugs.
Just be warned that if you have heavy luggage, it will not be easy getting it up to the 4th floor. Central is filled with steps and uneven sidewalks leading up to Wellington if you don't use the long escalator that is nearby.

  • Basic accommodation with a great view of the park. Peter was very responsive, and provided detailed instructions about the location and access to the airport link and airline check in. Really liked the keyless entry but would have liked a better kitchen set up.

  • as i arrived by taxi at Peter s place, a group of english men kindly helped me to bring my luggages up! i was so appreciative given the many many stairs to climb! impossible if they were not here! thk u to them!
the studio seemed at first small n depressing. cheap furnitures. it could be so much better.
the building is dirty and scary but safe.
Once you understand HK real estate, it s actually not that bad for the price.
it gets very stuffy inside also a bit noisy, bring ear plugs. shower room filled with mold due to humidity.
The very positive point is the location. in the heart of soho. bed quite comfortable. Peter is lovely, helping you if you need extra towels or iron ect...
i would stay there again for the location.

  • Amazing location. Close to Hong Kong station (airport link), MTR, the mid-level escalators and in the heart of Central. Very handy and convenient and easy to follow instructions on accessing the apartment.

  • Location and the convenience of Peter's apartment are unbeatable. The apartment is very private and quiet in a very central location. Peter has been efficient, responsive and accommodating to my requests. Had a pleasant stay. Thanks, Peter.

  • perfect for short stays, due mainly to location. wifi strong and plenty to eat in the wellington st area.

  • Really good and comfortable accommodation for Hong Kong : clean, bright, well furnished and well located. I loved the desk, large and very bright, you can work on with a clear view on the park. Washing machine is also appreciable.
The code door lock is really useful, you don't have to wait for the check-in or check-out.

I'm from the Netherlands but I have been living in Hong Kong for the last 15 years. I work as a carpenter/builder/art handler and do projects all over the world. I like skiing, yoga ( great stretch after a days building..) and baking and eating apple pie and muffins! As for the past... Schooled as a tailor and trained as a carpenter, I have hitch hiked from my village in Holland to Japan, took cargo ships to and from South America, taught English, Dutch and Spanish in Paraguay, worked as a tour guide in Patagonia and Bolivia/ Chile for 3 years, cycled from Dehli to Hong Kong on Indian bicycles and had some more adventures in between and after.
