It is important to note that Cherry is a corporate body who have a number of apartments and not an individual as implied by the name.
Therefore you will be getting an apartment that lacks a lot of the comforts which you would expect in an apartment that someone uses as a home. This includes limited furniture (there was a single bedside table in a room which could easily contain 2) limited cutlery/glassware (4 of most things). There were also no soft furnishings which left the apartment echoey and cold feeling.
However we could cope with all these things, what we struggled with was windows which weren't sound sealed, you could hear building works and harbour boats clearly on the 33rd floor and blinds which didn't keep the light out, great for seeing silhouettes of the NY skyline, not great for sleeping.
The final issue we had was with access to the pool. To do this you need pool passes, these weren't supplied with the apartment and when we realised this on a Saturday we were unable to contact Cherry ( i.e. UBliss apartments)
Nice and clean Apartment in a nice and modern building.
However no personal contact to the host. The only contact person was the receptionist, who was not really responsible for the flat. The Apartment was on the 35st floor, which was perfect, but as the windows where not really dense, the wind was whisteling all the time (should be fixed once).
A useful hint could also be how to use public Transport as there is no Pathtrain-service during the Weekends in Exchange place (Name of the Station) , so you have to use Grove-Street-Station.
A separate ticket for Pathtrain and for NY-Subway is necessary. You can get a Pathtrain weekpass for 26 USD plus 5 USD for the Smartcard. A weekpass for the NY-Subway costs additionally 30 USD (this is what no one could tell us even there, so it can be a useful information for you).
We liked our stay in NJ and would definitively come here again. Thank you for a nice (email hidden)!!!
Another great stay! Thanks very much. Clean, modern and convenient apartment. Perfect for a couple or a party of two.
Super apartment. Modern, safe, clean. Great location. All the conveniences are here. Def plan to stay here again.
Nice clean appartment- excatly as shown in photos.
In the yoga room you can see a perfect view of the statue of liberty!!
Had problems getting there from airport. However no problems getting into Manhattan from here.
Cherrys emails were professional and prompt; although did not reply to questions.
The studio apartments rented through Cherry were quite disappointing. Although the location and building itself were fine, the rest was not. Due to scheduling, we stayed in two different units so no need to generalize from the first. There were many issues. Firstly, this type of rental is the corporate penetration into Airbnb. Although from the description, it appeared the owner was an individual, Cherry, in fact this was a chain of apartments owned by a company. This would be fine, but the studios could only be described as pre-minimalist. When I finally spoke with someone about all the issues, she explained they basically provide a roof over head, kitchen appliances and a few items for the first day. After that the renter is expected to buy what he or she needs. Needs? Where to start?
Neither studio had a table and chairs! So no place to sit and eat, write a letter or Christmas card, wrap a package. There was a couch that opened to a bed and a coffee table--not very good for these tasks. An email complaint brought a table and two chairs, which fit in the space quite well. The bed was a slat bed. The slats were too short for their supports and repeatedly slid off their supports and the mattress fell through. In one of the two studios there were no drawers for clothes and the other had two bedside tables, each with two small drawers. There were no shelves in the closet. There was plenty of space for a small chest of drawers. So even though travelling with carry-on only, it was necessary to live out a suitcase on the floor.
The kitchen was labeled as “fully equipped,” but not even close. There were fine appliances, but only four sets of silverware, four plates, four salad plates, four regular glasses; no salad or serving bowl, etc. Even worse, the cooking utensils were minimal and in one there was no spatula to cook some basics. The first unit had no dish soap, paper or dish towel or sponge, so we purchased what we needed that first night. After a complaint, they furnished them.
I would not stay in this chain of apartments again unless there was nothing else available or they upgraded. But after this review, they probably wouldn't rent to me anyway.
Great location! Very comfortable and pleasant accommodations. We will definitely stay here on our next visit.
This studio was exactly as Cherry said in a very nice area of downtown Jersey City. Great and easy access to NYC via the ferry and PATH trains. Everything was comfortable, modern, and sleek. I ran into issues with the parking situation, especially when returning late, but the front desk people were very nice! I would definitely stay here again - much more afforable and more space than a hotel.
Great apartmet, good location, just steps from PATH station (1 stop to WTC). Very quite area with a lot of restaurant and shops around.
