  • What a wonderful week we spent in Lima — and we can thank Luis' apartment for making everything so easy.

As other reviewers have noted, Luis was great at greeting us in the wee hours of our arrival (past midnight) and in having the kitchen stocked with a great variety of fruits, bread, meat, cheese, juice and coffee. We couldn't have asked for more.

The apartment itself is cozy and felt immediately like home. The brick construction is very private, although there is some street noise despite it being on the third floor. The terrace was a delightful place for morning coffee or afternoon drinks. Some tricky stairs might make this place difficult for some travellers but we had no problems.

The Magdalena neighbourhood is a bit off the tourist track, but we felt embraced by the residents, especially at the nearby market, where we once went for coffee and ended up spending 90 minutes getting restaurant recommendations. We enjoyed Lorenzo's, nearby, and Paisano (?) which is a block east of the big church.

Affordable taxis took us everywhere we wanted to go easily. Luis said the bus outside went directly downtown, but we never needed to use it. We did walk once all the way to the Miraflores neighbourhood, but it was quite a long hike. We also walked to the Larco Museum, which was a moderate distance and takes you past tourist shops on Av. de la Marina.

The nearby beach is in the midst of a massive facelift by the city, and will be phenomenal when done. Like many beaches in Lima, not great for swimming, but great for strolling and sunset-watching.

As host, Luis was perfectly responsive to all our needs (which we hope were few) and extremely friendly. Entering and leaving the apartment passes right past his office and his own apartment, but aside from that, the only time we saw him was when we ran into him at the ice cream parlour down the block.

Great place in a fun city. Thanks for everything :D

    Dear Grant

Any effort is little to please our guests.

Thank you for trusting us and choose us as their home in Peru.

I hope you enjoyed the mango ice cream :)

    Blessings to you and Amy

  • Like other reviewers have said, this place was really incredible. It was a perfect retreat for our few days in Lima.

The apartment looks exactly like the pictures. It's very clean and cozy and stylish. It also has a great enclosed patio over Sucre that was perfect for morning coffee. Luis has a couple little birds out there that were very cheerful.

We didn't spend much time with Luis, but he was a really gracious host. Our bus into Lima blew a tire and we didn't get in until 1 AM, but Luis stayed up and was waiting for us at the apartment. We also hadn't eaten dinner, and as others have said, he had basic groceries for us there - bread, cheese, fruit, chocolate, a couple of beers, and some juice. Oh, and he stocks the apartment with coffee that is really, really tasty. There isn't a hot plate for cooking, but there is a full refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink, and coffee pot.

Also: there is a washing machine! After traveling for 2 weeks, that was very much appreciated!

The neighborhood is middle class and very safe. You can catch a taxi right out front very easily, and there are also buses that stop on Sucre close to the apartment. It's about 15 blocks or so from the National Archaeology Museum close to Bolivar Plaza. It's a little ways from Plaza de Armas and Miraflores, but not too far. It's an easy cab ride...maybe 10-15 soles in either direction.

We really loved this place, and we highly recommend it.

    Thanks for your feedback.

We appreciate that value the small details.

I am very happy when guests enjoy their passage to home.

  • I had a great stay with Luis Miguel at his apartment. This is a roof top (3rd story) apartment with a private terrace with a great breeze. We arrived late but Luis was there to greet us and had stocked up the kitchen and fridge with fruits, meats and drinks. The location is secure and safe and is a few blocks from the ocean with a great view. During my stay, there was a carnival with rides down on the beach and from the bluff above it looked like a scene from a Fellini movie. This is a better experience than wandering around Miraflores ("wow, they even have Brooks Brothers here") with a copy of Lonely Planet under your arm.

    Dear Edward

Just a special guest could do such great review.

Thank you for choosing us. This will always be your home.

  • We really enjoyed our few days in this apartment. It was quiet, clean, and the fridge was stocked when we arrived! The location is nice - close to the market and in a less touristy part if town. Luis was a great host, available to help whenever it was needed and was very accommodating when we extended our reservation. The apartment is above his office so he is always there to help. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get out of downtown Lima for a little relaxation. I'll be getting in touch should we ever return to the city.

    Bon voyage and blessings.

  • Great apartment in a nice location lots of local shops and restaurants which we like. Luis is a great host and will advise and help whenever required, but gives you space to enjoy his apartment once again a great style of hosting. Lots of goodies in the fridge when we checked in which we appreciated. Apartment is just as shown in the pictures. Would recommend this area over Miraflores which is very touristy. Stay at Luis place you will not be disappointed. Ronnie

  • Luis was a fantastic host! His apartment was a perfect place to stay in a great location. The apt was very clean, comfy bed and great patio for sitting out after a long day of exploring. There is a great market four blocks away and the beach is five blocks away. I would definitely recommend staying in Luis's place. He is an extremely generous and helpful host. Thanks Luis!

  • The owner was very kind, had the kitchen stocked with fruits, bread and the basics to have breakfast for a couple of days. Also he gave us very useful instructions on the house and eating places. There was a problem with the internet the first day but he solved it the next day very early in the morning, in the meanwhile he left us use his house internet to contact our families. The apartment is large, the decoration is lovely and modern, several movies and books, in general we had everything we needed. Unfortunately the heat due to the roof was very annoying during the day and even the night. The kitchen had a strong smell when we arrived. It's a good place but needs a bit more of attention.

  • Great little mini apartment close to the ocean and some of the busier districts of Lima. The apartment is clean, very private and secure (it even has a safe, but we never used it because we felt very comfortable). The rate Luis charges is very fair! On arrival Luis had stocked us with some groceries, which was a very kind gesture (milk, bread, juice, water, coffee). I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Luis's apartment again.

    Thank you again Luis

  • Luis was a very accommodating and gracious host! He was quick to reply and help with any concerns or questions that we had. Before we arrived, I inquired about tickets to Mistura (a big gastronomic event nearby). Luis happily acquired tickets for us before we arrived so we didn't have to worry about it being sold out. Luis also had fresh fruit, bread, ham, etc waiting for us upon our arrival which was a nice touch. My girlfriend and I were worn out from our time in Cusco and having this available on arrival was perfect for us to rest and relax without having to leave the apartment. Thank you again Luis!

  • Our stay at Luis was great. He is a nice host, very open-minded. He was always asking if we needed something and gave us some of his time to explain how things go for Macchu Pichu. He arranged a taxi to pick us up and back and left some food in the fridge. The area is safe and the apartment like a little NY loft. there is everything you need nearby.
