The Space

Enjoy the buzz of the city from a convenient, peaceful base!

My house is located exactly 10 minutes from Stephen’s Green/Grafton Street (the heart of the city) thanks to the Luas [tram] which stops right at the end of the driveway! We are on the green Luas line at the Milltown stop.

The house is clean, comfortable and modern, and the rooms are bright and spacious and overlook the garden. One room has a double bed (for 1 or 2 people) and the other has a single bed. The newly-renovated bathroom is for guests' sole use [I have my own]- it has an instantly hot shower, and towels, shampoo etc and a hairdryer are provided for your convenience. Downstairs, there is a big sitting room, kitchen and a lovely comfortable sunroom looking out on to the garden. There is free, fast Wifi in the house which you are welcome to use. The house is in a quiet, safe and secure gated development with plenty of free parking. A light breakfast of delicious Irish food is provided to start your day off on a good note!

My house is located in a lovely, peaceful and exclusive neighbourhood called Dartry. There is a fantastic pub/restaurant around the corner called The Dropping Well- this is a real Irish "local" and some people argue it has the best Guinness in Dublin! The city centre is within very easy reach (exactly 10 mins by Luas [tram]), and there are lots of great pubs, restaurants and shops within a short walk or tram ride of the house. Ranelagh village is only a few minutes away and has a fantastic pub and restaurant scene. Dundrum Town Centre is a few minutes the other direction and has a huge shopping centre and lots of great restaurants. My house is also very convenient for getting to places such as UCD, Trinity College, the RDS, Aviva Stadium, the Convention Centre etc.

I am very happy to help with suggestions for your visit. I love meeting people and helping them to have a more authentic experience of my city! Dublin is a great place to live, having all the benefits of a big city while retaining its local charm and friendliness. I am delighted to share a local's perspective on where to go and what to do.

I look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to my home!
Melanie

GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT
It is really easy to get to my house from the airport. Just take the Aircoach (a regular and comfortable private bus, €12 return, 30 mins) to the City Centre- Grafton Street stop. Walk up Grafton Street to the Luas [tram], and in exactly 10 minutes you will arrive at the Luas stop beside my house!

You can also take a taxi from the airport, which should cost about €30-35 (30 mins). If you are hiring a car, I am happy to provide driving directions.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Melanie's (4 nights): the house is clean, comfortable and conveniently located (it takes 10 minutes to go to the city center and it is not far from UCD (University College Dublin) that we wanted to visit before my daughter starts a summer internship. And Melanie is a very pleasant host! Everything was great!

  • Melanie is a truly delightful person. Her house is so conveniently located to Dublin and the luas. She has so many ideas of what to do and a wonderful view from the room. You have your own bathroom with shower, we would stay here again if ever in Dublin again. You will not regret staying with Melanie!

  • Melanie was an excellent host! Her house is located in a very safe, gated community and it was very easy to find. I felt very comfortable walking back to her house at 10 at night by myself. The luas is located right outside of her driveway which makes getting to and from the city very convenient. Her home is very clean and comfortable. My room and private bathroom, which were located on the 2nd floor of her house, were very clean, spacious, and comfortable as well. Melanie leaves many brochures and books about Ireland, but the best is her actual "Welcome" folder she personally made for her guests. It was very informative and helpful! It answers any questions you have about her house and Dublin. She even leaves a breakfast menu for you in the kitchen.

Melanie makes sure you enjoy your stay in Dublin. She is very welcoming, kind, and sincere and I would definitely book with her again next time I'm in Dublin! Thank you for an excellent experience, Melanie :)

  • This is a lovely house in a peaceful area of Dublin, yet only 10 minutes from the city centre. Travelling to and from town was really easy as the Luas stop (train) is literally 1 minute from the front door. The house is just like the pictures, well kept, clean and tidy. The conservatory was a great place to chill and read and the rooms and beds were very comfortable. The guests also have their own bathroom. Melanie is a lovely host with a great house :)

  • Melanie was a super friendly host! We were so happy to stay in her cosy house near the center of Dublin. Not only did she provide us with a lot of tourist information, she also shared a lot of lovely local restaurant, café & pub tips, and she made sure we had a really nice (and light) breakfast) - which feels great after eating a full Irish breakfast on a daily for a whole week :)! The house is located in a quiet residential area, which means easy (and free!) car parking right in front of the door. It's only a 10 minute tram ride into the heart of the city. We truly enjoyed our weekend in Dublin thanks to our relaxed stay in Melanie's house!

About
I am a lawyer in my early 30s and come from Dublin originally. I love travelling and have been lucky enough to see a lot of the world (many more places still on my list, however!). I enjoy meeting new people and am delighted to have the opportunity to host people in my hometown! Other than travel, I enjoy sports, particularly watching rugby (I am a season ticket holder of my local team, Leinster), and I used to ride horses and play field hockey until time and injury got the better of me. Now replaced by the less strenuous Pilates! I am a friendly and hospitable person, having grown up in a family that had a constant stream of visitors from around the world on foot of my parents' travels over the years. I understand French and German (my speaking of it is a bit rusty!), and I have picked up some Spanish on my travels. I look forward to welcoming you to Dublin!
