About this listing

Japanese Asian decor with many thoughtful touches to transform your stay from the mundane to the memorable. Washer dryer, all kitchen amenities, fully furnished & 42" 1080p tv for staying in. A short walk to ramen shops, Starbucks & much more.

The space

A love of Japanese culture guides the choice of furnishings and provides an escape from the ordinary. Polished oak floors and a balcony overlooking a quiet neighborhood street contribute to a sense of space. Your home away also has the amenities you're accustomed to with a washer and dryer, dish washer and ceiling fans for those who like a cool breeze. A Bose radio fills the bedroom with music & has an aux input for your phone - and the bed is queen size. A 4K 42" tv and Bose stereo awaits your relaxation in the living room and the futon folds into a twin bed. An ice maker keeps your cocktails on the rocks. In short, it's the perfect base to explore the Tampa St. Petersburg metroplex from. The bungalow is 650 sq ft with an additional 120 sq ft on the balcony for a leisurely breakfast al fresco.

Guest access

The bungalow is above our detached two car garage. It has its own entrance affording you complete privacy. Electronic locks remove the worry of lost keys.

Interaction with guests

Jennifer and I (David) will be a phone call away if you need advice or get lost. As we're new to AirBnB we'll be very attentive to your needs. We won't intrude, replace linens or towels unless you specifically request this as there's a washer and dryer for your use. We'll make sure you have the staples like good coffee or laundry detergent upon your arrival. We're literally next to a Starbucks so we don't provide breakfast: many people are gluten intolerant or vegan, etc. plus we're often away. Anywhere the term B & B is mentioned is in a generic capacity.

Other things to note

As it is a garage bungalow, access is via stairs. Those not capable of ascending and descending stairs should be cognizant of this. There's parking for two cars.

A great deal of care has gone into making this apartment (Minshuku) a truly great stay. It is charming in every way and much of the Japanese-Asian decor has been hand-crafted. Besides being quiet, comfortable, well-equipped and well-located, hosts David and Jennifer are very congenial and will respond to any guest need. Their suggestions for restaurants and places to visit are excellent. I recommend the Ishicaro for delicious noodle dishes and Nickos for breakfast -- a genuine 50s retro diner! I will definitely be back to stay when in Tampa!!

Davids welcoming smile and hand shake when I first checked in let me know my stay was going to be great. Very close to highway. This bungalow was exactly what I needed for my stay and I will def be back as long as it is free while I need to be here in Tampa. The decor is beautiful and it feels like a home rather than somewhere your just resting your head at night. Thank you for being such great hosts!! See you next month!

After having stayed at David and Jennifer's place for a full week, all I can say is "wow!". We honestly loved staying here. It was super clean, had everything we could possibly have needed, and truly felt like home. David and Jennifer have done a remarkable job in decorating the place with a Japanese theme and it really made the place so inviting and comfy. We also felt very safe with the security that was put in place. Additionally, the location was really great as it's close to the highway and only a very short drive to downtown. Finally, David and Jennifer were the nicest hosts you could possibly meet. Even our young son enjoyed hanging with them :). Overall, hands down 5 stars for this stay. Would definitely stay here again the next time we're visiting Tampa.

The apartment, built over a garage, featured Japanese themed decorations. Beautiful. Everthing we required for our 2 week stay was provided as listed. Very private location and David and Jennifer were available if needed. Location was central for our daily golfing trips and nightly entertainment. We would certainly stay here again.

Fantastic apartment, well located, easy access to the main roads, in a historic and peaceful neighborhood. The hosts prepared the house for you to feel like home. The kitchen is totally functional and is very well furnished. A lot of space, nice balcony, free wifi and cable tv to complete the amazing package. Without words to describe all the support given by the hosts. I fully recommend. The best of Tampa!

Jennifer and I have the mutual goal of making your stay in Tampa the best that it can be - and memorable. We hope our Japanese themed cottage either elicits a smile for its kitsch value or preferably shows our interest in world travel.

We like yoga, green technology, NASA, reggae, Haruki Murakami, old British cars and dark chocolate. I'm typically traveling to disaster sites as a FEMA damage adjustor. Jennifer is a Cisco Wireless Engineer and travels the world doing enterprise grade WiFi rollouts. When she's not wearing her propellor hat she's teaching Baptiste Yoga - and can also be counted on for (URL HIDDEN) about obscure rock stars of the 70's and her capacity for cool crafts projects.

You might also know us as the couple who married in a Kraftwerk themed ceremony, or you might know me as "Florida Man Changes Name To Kraftwerk", a stunt that got far more press than I intended. If you're a music fanatic of any stripe, stop by and chat with us!
