The house was lovely and quirky and charming and the caretaker made us feel very welcome. The village is remote and very quiet but very scenic and it was a lovely launch pad for our adventures. The children were very comfortable and they loved the the fruit trees and the grape arbor as well as the expansive yard. We ate alfresco for every meal and the kitchen was well equipped. We had a lovely vacation!

We had a lovely time in Peyrefitte-du-Razès. The village is charming, the house is comfortable and spacious, and Dag's managers are relaxed, friendly, and available, but also respectful of one's privacy. The neighbors were friendly, and one even brought us lettuce from his garden! I must admit that as we drove further and further into the countryside seeking the property, I worried that we were going to be truly isolated, and realizing the size (or lack thereof) of the tiny village in which it was located didn't help any. And honestly, you may not be comfortable if what you seek is impeccably elegant, urban chic. But what we found was an old rustic country house (along with some of the challenges that go with adjusting old architecture to modern living) in which we felt very much at home, with a patio that we used everyday for outdoor meals, situated on a large lot where my grown daughters could relax, or play frisbee or improvised badminton, or otherwise act like kids. While there are no commercial establishments in the village, you only have to drive maybe 15 minutes to get your groceries. And there is plenty to do and see within comfortable driving distance--markets and restaurants in Mirepoix and Camon, castles to visit, caves to explore, and beautiful countryside to enjoy everywhere. The really nice part is that after playing tourist, you return to the quiet of rural living--no cars, noise, etc. other than the birds that you awake to in the morning. Perfect? No, but it was worth it to us.

Dag's house is ideally situated, close to Mirepoix and Carcasonne and there's lots to do. The caretaker, Alain and his family are very helpful and friendly and we're always on hand to assist when we needed it. The swimming pool and outdoor space was a lovely area in which to relax. The interior is an old style French house and if you're looking for all your city comforts, it's not the place for you, however we enjoyed the quirky style of the place and enjoyed reading Dag's wife's book about the house and the village!

The house was perfect, very big and with a superb garden. We really enjoyed our stay and did a lot of cooking, since the kitchen is equipped with everything you may need. The environment is great if you want to rest and do some walking. The only minor detail was that the towels and bed linen were very old and thus a little bit rough. Other than that, highly recommendable.

I'm from Sweden and I have lived in other countries for 16 years, working in international development. I like to be with my children and grandchildren, listen to classical music and some jazz and blues, read, see film and theatre, go for long walks in beautiful surroundings, play bridge and enjoy good food and wine.
