Rachel was very nice. However, we didn't have electricity the first night and were not provided with flashlights or candles. The location is beautiful though and the option to buy and cook food is great. Bringing or renting bikes is not necessary but highly recommended

My sister and I stayed at Rachel's place for 4 nights during our time in Puerto Viejo, and enjoyed it very much. This place is very "off the beaten path" quite literally, so it took us some time to find the first night when we arrived at the bus station, but after that it was easy enough to access via foot or bicycle from the main town. We would recommend bikes if staying here. Our only issue was a lack of electricity the first two nights during our stay, so the place was quite dark especially coming home at night, but Rachel was very responsive via email and did everything she could to help us out. The accommodations are rustic and basic, but are very much integrated with the wildlife and the jungle. There is a shared kitchen space downstairs, and we also enjoyed the yoga deck with hammocks, although we practiced on our own--there didn't seem to be any organized yoga classes while we were in town. Overall, we would recommend staying here!

Rachel and her friends was very welcoming and made us feel at ease. The house is beautiful, all made of wood and is located in the jungle, where you can hear the amazing sound of the forest animals waking up. 10 minutes walk easy to the main town street and the beach. Amazing breakfast ! Thank you Rachel

Rachel was very accommodating for us even when we arrived later than expected(crazy highway accident has us at a standstill for nearly 2 hours!) The room was simple and exactly what we needed for a relaxing weekend. Mosquito nets were provided and sockets for our chargers. The balcony had a beautiful view of the property. She is definitely telling the truth that you will NEED a flashlight when coming down the road if it's after dark. There was some construction going on somewhere along her road which caused some problems with uneven path for our car. However, we managed to make it there without getting stuck. Super beautiful town and friendliness. The only issue we had was our second night, our bathroom door(which was shared with the couple next to us) was locked from the inside because of the other guests, and I had to wait until the morning when I heard them in there to be able to get back in.

Amazing place in the jungle, where you can spot so many birds, butterflies, monkeys, sloths and fireflies. The location is hidden away from the hustle and bustle from town to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough to be there in a flip. Rachel was super friendly and relaxed about check-in and out times. The only thing that would have made it great is if the shower would have a little more water coming from it and the pans would be renewed. However, you are in the middle of the jungle so 'pura vida' and you can enjoy your meal in the big kitchen, on the deck or in a hammock with great views. We loved it, so definitely would recommend the place to anyone visiting puerto viejo!

I am from the United States and have lived in Costa Rica for fifteen years. I love to work with medicine plants and be outdoors in the rainforest.
