About This Listing
Now that the kids are grown my husband and I have a ton of extra room going to waste, and we'd love some company! Centrally located in Connecticut in a safe suburb of Newington, we're proud to share our spacious home surrounded by an acre and a half of well-maintained property. The house is set back four hundred feet from the street with tons of parking, is clean and well-kept, has plenty of space and privacy as well as open gathering places, and is occupied by a very friendly family of three (two during the academic year when my son is at school in Ithaca, NY).
Set alongside a cliff overlooking Piper Brook, spring, summer, and fall days are extremely pleasant amid the gardens and greenery, while in winter a hill for sledding tempts families to go outside. If you're just looking for a place to crash for the night, that's fine too!
There are three available rooms, as well as additional couch space allowing for a maximum of nine guests. The largest of the three rooms has an very comfortable queen size bed as well as a futon, is at the farthest end of the house offering the most privacy, and has a porch overlooking the backyard. The blue room has a queen size bed, and the green room has a trundle which converts to two twin beds or one queen size bed. All three have access to the same full bathroom, and there is a half-bathroom downstairs. See "Beautiful Property, Friendly Home" 2 and 3 for the other available rooms.
Amenities include wi-fi, washer and dryer, 30-foot above-ground pool (June-September), grand piano, hammock, multiple porches, chiminea, air hockey, foosball, and basic exercise equipment. Five minutes from CCSU, fifteen minutes from the University of St. Joseph, twenty minutes from the University of Hartford, and halfway between NYC and Boston.
This listing is for the largest and most secluded of the three rooms.
Sue and her family made me feel right at home from the first night. They are incredibly welcoming and you can't go wrong staying with them. When I travel to Hartford in the future, I'll certainly be looking to book a room in the Tine household!
The property itself is very nice and the pictures / description are accurate. The house has many amenities and is nestled in a nice neighborhood and far from the street -- it is very peaceful.
You can never go wrong with the Tine Family. I have never travelled by myself and was in town for the weekend taking an exam. Mr. and Mrs. Tine went out their way to make me feel at home and helped me feel at ease in a time of stress and uncertainty. We even went out to dinner to celebrate the end of my exam!! I don't know how to express my gratitude for everything they did and the amazing hospitality they demonstrated.
I can't wait to go back, even if it's just to visit!! Mr. and Mrs. Tine were the highlight of my stay and I would recommend a stay at their home any time :)
Thank you Lucero for this lovely review! We most definitely want to wish you the best with your medical career and pray you have a blessed holiday! Keep us posted !Love Sue and Paul..........PS Just read the rest of you message and will keep that invite in mind if we are traveling through! I'd love to meet your parents!
This was the first time my girlfriend and I used AirBnB and and we could not ask for a better experience. Susan and Paul were extremely welcoming and really made us feel at home (we even had breakfast in the morning!!) They were also very flexible with check in and check out time. We would definitely recommend them for any traveler. Thanks Susan!!
Sue and Paul were wonderful hosts and made me feel welcome in their beautiful home.
Everything was clean and comfortable. The grounds were lovely and well-maintained.
It was a great weekend!
Our hosts were as friendly and hospitable as they could be. They were flexible with our schedule and attentive that we had everything we needed (including plenty of coffee). A photo could not do this lovely home justice. This is an idyllic country setting with beautiful landscapes and quiet surroundings, yet it's right in town. Our upstairs room was large and the bed was comfortable. At night, we heard no sounds from inside or outside the house even though several other people were staying there. We never had to wait for the shared bathroom. This is a very homey place to stay for travelers who want good company and conversation. Susan is a genius tag saler. Utilize her expertise if you can. We did!
What a fun stay in this lovely house! We wished we had more time to explore the pool and the area, but for our zoom through it was perfect - clean, welcoming and very friendly hosts, handy to get into Hartford, and a great price. Can't ask for more!
