Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • Overall the stay with Carlos was OK.

    -Location (convenient and quiet)
    -Cleanliness was as expected
    -Breakfast included

    Could be improved:
-Carlos sometimes came off as pushy and annoyed when we didn't follow his recommendations around Cuzco. This made for awkward conversations.
-There was supposed to be an airport pick-up in Lima that did not happen.

    Response from Carlos:

Unfortunately my concern that your stay is the best and take advantage of the tourist ticket to the fullest, as it is a high cost , it seems that was an inconvenience to them , my intention is not to do what I want, only that you spend the maximum stay enjoing in this beautiful city and usually have little time in Cusco, if I insisted to be understanding is because my English is not the best, sorry . The thing I bother is that instead of plugging their stuffy in the room, they made it in the wrong place, where this repeater internet ( high wall) , leaving it hanging which caused this to fall , hindering the smooth functioning of wifi. By the other hand, my obligation is not to send a taxi to pick them up in another city, my intention was only to help them, but the good operation of the taxi company is outside the scope of my hands. You can not demand perfection to others when you do not put your hand to make things easier . As for the breakfast are offered so the house has , such as coffee, milk , teas , butter, local jams, juices , fruit, eggs , bread, cheese , really do not know what else to come and eat in your country, but this breakfast is a home to all my guests enjoy it.

  • Our stay with Carlos was a pleasant one. He organized all our transportation to and from the airport along with our trip to ollantaytambo in the sacred valley.
He greeted us at the door, showed us to our rooms, prepared all 7 of us coco tea to help with the altitude sickness along with providing us with a detailed briefing of the location along with giving us many great recommendations including dining out and where to get the best rate for foreign exchange.
    His home is beautiful.
Bedrooms were comfortable and well maintained. Only negative would have to be the hot water. You need to run the water for several minutes before it goes hot, and while showering the water temperature does not remain consistent.

House is situated very close to the main square for shopping and dining.

Each morning Carlos organized a simple breakfast for us including yummy freshly squeezed orange and papaya juice.

Thank you Carlos for your hospitality.
If i am lucky enough to visit cusco again, I would not hesitate to return.

  • Carlo's house is beautiful, we were greeted at the door by him.
He helped us all (7 girls) with our bags and provided us with some lovely coco tea while providing us with lots of useful information that would make our stay in Cusco comfortable.
Beds were comfortable, and we were happy to see that there were lots of blankets provided as it was a lot colder than we expected it to be in Cusco.
There were only 2 negative experiences, wifi in one of our rooms (larger room closer to the stairs) was very poor, we had to leave the room and sit in another part of the house in order to use the Wifi.
Lastly, the hot water did not work very well. Some us subjected ourselves to cold showers.
Breakfast provided by Carlos was simple but delicious.
Overall our stay with Carlos was very pleasant, his home is well situated in Cusco, only a short walk from the main town centre and there are many shops and restaurants close by.
Thank you Carlos for your hospitality.

  • My stay with Carlos was the absolute best. He was a great host. He arranged for me to be picked up at the airport and arranged two of my tours which were great. His place was in a great location and only a short 2min walk to plaza del armas. One of the best stays using airbnb. Gracias Carlos por todo!

  • Carlos´ place was perfect for me, because I needed some advise and guiding in the trek/activity/restaurant jungle that Cusco is, and Carlos was right on the money, with clear ideas on what one should do in Cusco. Also very nice to have fellow travellers around in the house to join for dinners, going out etc.

Localisation is great, three minutes from Plaza de armas, the house itself is nice and charming, and with charm also comes squeakyness I guess, so if you´re not into getting up at 7am I´d suggest earplugs, cause walls are thin and sound travel easily.

Highly recomendable place, and a big thanks to Carlos for all the help/guiding/conversations and general good vibes. Made my stay in Cusco very nice.

  • Carlos is a fantastic host and extremely helpful if you don't know Cusco or its sites at all.Carlos gave me a map of the town when I got there and told me all about the best sites (and provided me with even more info about the ones I'd specifically be interested in seeing). He also recommended the best areas for bargain shopping in Cusco (avoiding the heavily touristed and more expensive shops). I wasn't even planning to buy that much, but since I was shopping where the locals shop and the prices of the beautiful handmade textiles were so cheap, I ended up buying a few things - and I'm so glad I did! I had a mini-crisis while I was there and needed to modify some settings on my (website hidden) account that I wasn't able to do from my android phone.Carlos generously allowed me to use his personal computer to change the settings and even helped me to translate the spanish on his computer. He totally saved the day! The location of their beautiful home is SOOO convenient. It's just a few minutes from the main plaza and close to everything. I almost stayed at a place way up on the hill which I'd seen on airbnb (mainly for the view) but had I stayed there, it would have been much more of a pain to go back and forth to my room. At Carlos', I was able to go back to my room and drop things off/pick things up whenever I wanted. Also, for food recommendations, Carlos was amazing. He recommended a few restaurants in the immediate area and the first place I tried was so incredible (and I'm a foodie) and so cheap, that I ended up going back there every evening to try different dishes. The cost for their daily-changing, two-course (with beverage), prix fixe menu was only 12 soles! (about $4.30!!) . I had seen one reviewer on here who said that Carlos really pushes the tours in Cusco and he did inform me about them but in no way did I feel like he was pressuring me to take one.He merely wants people to learn as much as they can about Cusco and the Inka and the surrounding area - he's very proud of being from there - and he knows that for people on a limited visit time, it can be much easier for them to use a guided tour (and more cost effective if you're planning to see several of the sites).I told him I prefer to go at my own pace, and don't do well as a guided sheep :) and he instead told me the best places to visit on my own and what the entry fees would be for each. My bedroom was fantastic, too-super comfy bed.You share 2 full bathrooms with 4 rooms total, but I never once had to wait to use the bathroom. It felt like having my own.

Overall, I highly recommend Carlos's homestay!!

  • Carlos' house was for me the best hotel of Cusco. It is located near to the central place, Carlos is a wonderful host, always present, always helpful and always interested in exchange of experiences and knowledge with its guests. Since in the house is space for several guests, one has good chances to meet interesting people from different countries. For instance, we had a very pleasant New Years Eve cercle of German, Scotish, American, Spanish, Italian and Australian guests plus Carlos as Peruvian. I only can recommend to every body coming to Cusco taking accomodation in Carlos' house.

  • We stayed with Carlos for a total of 6 nights, broken up by the 4 day Inka trail hike to Macchu Picchu. The location was great & the house was clean and tidy. Carlos himself was very accommodating. However, our expectations fell short with less comfortable bedding (& room on our second stay ), a very basic breakfast which was easy to pass up and an initial push on booking tours through Carlos - at a premium price! Overall a good (but not great) experience which may be better suited to single travellers rather than a family .

    Response from Carlos:

Unfortunately it is very hard to please every guest as in this case, the opinión of the other guests in reference to breakfast and rooms is completly different to yours, our breakfast consists on mermelade, cheese, butter, bread, fruit, juice, milk, coffee, eggs.. not basic at all. I never pushed anyone to purchase tours and always said that there are different kinds of prices in the market obviously it depends of the service quality, personally i don’t find a 30USD tour that includes guide, transport and lunch in one of the best restaurants in the zone, expensive, probably we need to improve some aspects as in every business but i find your criticism exagerated, I also have to comment that you forgot to pay for the laundry service.

  • Couldn't have asked for anything more. Had a great time at Carlos' place and the location is awesome. Thanks Carlos, I will be staying there any time I am in Cusco.

  • Carlos is VERY accomodating and an all around awesome guy. The house is dripping in history - including a collection of cool old hats. One note to those like me who are light sleepers - its a bit noisy - Hard wood flors and fogged glass windows don't provide much noise or light insulation. BUT I still opted to come back for a second stay! Oh - and HOT showers! Perfect for pre and post Machu Picchu. I'd definitely look Carlos up anytime I'm back in Cusco! And you really can't be the location!
