Gooch Cottage - A taste of Old Cape Cod
This early 1900's antique cottage, one of three, sits atop the heights and provides a wonderful view of the town cove and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Most of our tenants have been coming for 20-40 years, so this is a unique opportunity to find a place you will want to come back to for years to come. Three bedrooms, 1 bath, fully furnished, full kitchen and a comfortable porch with a view you won't want to leave. Step back in time and relax.
Please bring your well-behaved pets. They are much better off with you than in a kennel.
You are 10 minutes from everything: beach, ponds, bike path, supermarket, fish store etc.
Cottage, porch and surrounding property are all non-smoking.
WEEKLY RENTALS ONLY - Rates depending on pre-season/prime time/post season. 50% deposit and lease required. Please do not consider your rental confirmed until we have communicated directly.
Please note: we do not provide any meals. These are housekeeping cottages with a full kitchen and many, many restaurants nearby.
All tenants bring their own sheets and towels. Well behaved pets are more than welcome.
These are all strictly non-smoking cottages inside and out.
Great location, I highly suggest ordering your steamed lobsters from Mac's Seafood just down the road!
Gooch cottage was truly lovely. The location and house are exactly as described and depicted. Joyce and Duane are gracious and supportive hosts. We can't wait to come back!
The photos don't do justice to Gooch cottage - it is very charming indeed and the view of the marsh is outstanding. The cottage was supplied with most basics needed for the week including generous starter TP, paper towels, trash bags, etc. The kitchen is well stocked with numerous cooking utensils and wares. There's plenty to do nearby including the bike trails, kayak and bike rentals, beaches and the National Seashore Center. We found Eastham to be an ideal central location from which to explore the rest of the cape. Joyce was very helpful with dog and hiking info and was readily available to help with our questions and needs. Highly recommend this place!!
We had a wonderful stay at the Gooch cottage! It is a darling cottage built in the early 1900s, but with all of the amenities that you would hope to have on a vacation today. The cottage is set off quite far from the highway, so we had absolutely no concerns about anyone (or our dog) getting too close to the highway. It is extraordinarily quiet, and the view is beautiful. The hosts were a lovely couple that were the picture of kind, friendly and hospitable.
The cottage is also quite a bit bigger than you might expect. Three rooms, a large bathroom, huge porch and lots of space in the kitchen, dining area and living room. Great for cooking (as is the grilling area with brand new charcoal grill) and families.
Eastham is also a great area to be in--there are some fantastic restaurants nearby, and it is in the middle of almost everything. There are two amazing beaches nearby--we recommend seeing the sunset there!

Smith Heights Cottages have been in my husband's family since the early 1900's. The management of the cottages just passed on to us in 2010. We love all things antique and these cottages allow us to mix our passion with our work.
When we are at the Cape, we enjoy doing the same things that our renters enjoy. We rise early and go for a walk on the beach with our Maltese dog, Lulu. Oftentimes we arrive at the beach in time to see the sunrise. There are but a few people on the beach at this time, save for a handful of surfers..... it's very quiet and peaceful.
We love touring all of the historic properties nearby and are members of the French Cable Museum in Orleans, Friends of the National Seashore, Nauset Light Preservation Society and the wonderful lighthouse and rescue center in Provincetown. We are never at a loss for things to do.
My absolute favorite thing to do though is to grab whatever book I'm into at the time (right now I'm reading a book written by an Airbnb tenant that I had earlier this year)and sit on the porch. It is the most peaceful thing there is and no matter what is troubling me it all seems to recede to the back of my mind. I put my feet up on the porch rail, sit in a high back rocker and pass many hours away taking an occasional break to watch a pretty sailboat, kayakers paddle by or a great blue heron fly awkwardly overhead. It truly is a piece of heaven. I breath deeper here.
