About this listing
Cute, remodeled apartment 2 blocks from the F and J/Z lines on the vibrant Lower East Side. It's a few blocks from tons of great restaurants and bars, and convenient to attractions in midtown, downtown, and in Brooklyn.
You'll have your own bedroom a share the kitchen, bathroom, living room with me, a busy freelance journalist. It's a second-floor space with exposed brick and hardwood floors in a prime Lower East Side location. You'll be just two blocks from the subway (F/M & J/Z), which makes it easy to get uptown and also to Brooklyn. All around are exciting restaurants, bars, and shopping. As an additional benefit, this is a straight shot on the J train from JFK airport.
The LES is known for nightlife, but this block doesn't have any bars on it. The area is a cute, village-like neighborhood during the day but becomes quite the festive hot spot on Friday and Saturday nights. Luckily, your room is in the back of the apartment, so there's no street noise.
The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen you're welcome to use, and a grocery store is across the street. Both beds are full size. Linens and towels are included.
The apartment is on the second floor, so carrying suitcases up is not bad at all. There are several places to do laundry or get laundry done within a few blocks.
Back bedroom, which is the quiet one (great for sleeping!); fully equipped kitchen; bathroom; living room; wifi
Interaction with Guests
I work at home during the day, but am generally out and about most evenings.
The neighborhood is a nightlife hub on weekends, but during the week it has a relaxed village feel. There are lots of great restaurants if you love food!
Please check out my guide on here for restaurant, bar, and cafe recommendations--or feel free to ask!
Two subway lines (the F/M and J/Z) heading uptown or to appealing parts of Brooklyn are just two blocks away. You can also walk across the Williamsburg Bridge when it's pleasant out (50 m from the apartment door)
Basic stuff that I'm sure everyone would do anyway! :) But here goes:
Please wash your own dishes and leave things tidy.
During cold weather, the heat for the whole building is automatic. Please don't touch the radiator settings--turning the heat off can break the radiator.
During the summer, please be considerate about turning off the A/C when you leave, to help keep electric bills reasonable.
Same with the space heater during winter--please turn it off when you're not home.
Jenny was a great host. We needed a room immediately due to a problem with our original booking, and Jenny accommodated us on the same day we contacted her. Within 3 hours, we were checked into her space. We were very pleased and grateful.
Jenny is a very nice host. It's 15 mins walk to soho I love that location. Very nice experience!
Jenny was a great host! She was very helpful and friendly. The room was a little sparse but the bed was very comfortable, and the location was awesome - I had a great stay.
Prime location but room is not the same as one listed in the ad. Room and bathroom was clean and the Host was friendly.
This was my first time using air bnb and it was a fantastic experience! It was a very cozy room (especially when it is snowing outside) and the apartment is really easy to walk to from the subway. Jenny was really helpful and friendly and responds quickly to messages. She had a great recommendation for a lunch place as well!! It was a perfect temporary home away from home!
The perfect first Airbnb experience. Jenny was super friendly and knowledgeable, so could help with all the questions I had for my first visit to NYC. She knows the best places to eat (an important consideration for me!) and her apartment is in just the right place to take in the LES, East Village and to scoot over the Williamsburg Bridge to Brooklyn. Jenny's place is great - a comfortable bed and hot shower, with a functional kitchen and cosy living room that mean it's a good place to spend time if you're worn out from exploring the city.

About the Host, Jenny
I'm a Portland, Oregon, native who's lived in the Bay Area, Austin, and have been in New York for five years. I'm pretty low-key, easygoing, fun. I'm also an NYC food and drink writer, so if you want to know where to eat/go out, I can help!
