About This Listing
The King size bed has Simmons Beautyrest Pillowtop mattress, goose down duvets and white percale bed linen.
Domaine Saint Hilaire is the perfect destination for wine lovers looking for a luxury break in the Languedoc, South of France.
The B&B was created in 2008 and has since won two prestigious awards as well as numerous excellent reviews from guests and the press alike. It was the overall winner of the Romantic I-Escape category 2011 and was selected as one of the top 100 B&Bs in the whole of France by Le Figaro magazine.
The Domaine is surrounded by 60 hectares of its own vineyards, fields of clover and wheat. There's are lots of lovely walks to do, around the old Roman road, the Via Domitia, and you can even borrow our bikes and set off for the day into one of the nearby towns and villages.
If you just want to relax at the domaine during the day, there's plenty to do without even leaving the grounds. You can relax by the beautiful infinity pool, which looks on to the ancient park full of towering trees and umbrella pines that are almost 200 years old. Or perhaps you'd like some afternoon tea in the rose garden? As a guest, you'll have access to the library which is full of English and French novels, as well as our extensive DVD collection if you fancy a quiet night in. All rooms come with TV and free to view channels and there is a free wifi zone. We can give you a cable for internet in your room, but if you'd prefer your partner's undivided attention, your room can remain conveniently internet free!
If you're feeling more active, you can test your skills on the table tennis table, and from Easter 2013, there'll also be a full sized Billiard table for guests to enjoy.
Wine is really the heart of the Domaine, so it's almost obligatory for guests to have a full wine-tasting one evening with one of the family, who will introduce you to the 8 different grapes that we grow and help you find a wine to suit your tastes. We've won 48 awards for our wines over the past ten years, so there's no better place to get to know top quality Southern French wines in luxurious surroundings.
We can provide excellent 3-course dinners for guests (40-50€/person depending on the menu) and we can provide picnic lunches or sandwiches on request. Type "Domaine Saint Hilaire Montagnac Tripadvisor" into (website hidden) to see reviews from our previous guests.
All rooms have ensuite bathrooms with waterfall showers and the best Egyptian cotton that we could find. Toiletries are Molton Brown and towels are changed every day or on request as you prefer.
There are five guest rooms, named after the local winds: Terral, Mistral, Marin, Levant and Autan. This listing is for Autan, the largest of the rooms. For others, please message us and we'll send you more information.
Guest Room "Autan" - the most spacious room with one large double bed (160cm), furnished with antique furniture from the same era as the house. There are views on both sides of the house - into the main courtyard and garden at the front and onto the park and infinity pool at the back.
The bathroom comprises bath, WC, bidet, two hand basins and separate shower.
We also offer the following additional items and features to make your stay more enjoyable:
Early morning tea or coffee served in your room; followed by a lavish buffet laid out in the Breakfast Room which you can take either there or by the infinity pool during the warmer months. The buffet includes fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurts, croissants, baguette, toast, ham and cheese as well as cooked eggs on request. Breakfast is available until 10.30 am.
Five o'clock is teatime and we offer a variety of real leaf teas - earl grey, china rose petal and english breakfast.
Seven o'clock is time for an aperitif - a glass of our wine before dinner with us or in one of the local restaurants. We're happy to help you make bookings and we'll use our local knowledge to recommend restaurants and day time activities to suit your style.
In addition to the above which is included in the cost of your stay, we can supply on request sandwiches or packed lunch and table d'hôte dinner or light supper in your room and for special occasions arrange for cakes, flowers and champagne. Domaine wine can be purchased at any time to drink here or to take home.
We're also happy to put you in touch with our preferred local tour providers if you'd like to visit other wineries, do a gourmet food walking tour of nearby Sète, or visit local honey or cheese producers.
You'll find plenty of guidebooks and maps in the Breakfast Room, where the breakfast buffet is set out in the morning.
The Living Room has a welcoming open vine log fire in winter months and is where tea is served at five o'clock (if inside) and where guests are offered a glass of Domaine wine as an aperitif at seven o'clock.
There is also a separate evening Dining Room with an open vine log fire, if table d'hôte is requested.
The pool is a few steps across the terrace from the Bastide and is heated from the end of May to October (when necessary). It is 11m x 5m.
We're very happy to help you plan your trip and make the most of all the Languedoc has to offer.
Read some reviews of the chambre d'hôte and particularly of Anne's wonderful cooking on TripAdvisor (make sure you're looking at the Domaine Saint Hilaire in Montagnac as there are a couple elsewhere).
You'll need to have or rent a car during your stay as we are tucked away from the main road and although there are buses and some taxi services, it's certainly more convenient to drive yourself.
Let us know when you're booking if you're driving all the way home and we'll have a special treat waiting for you when you arrive!
We are a family run vineyard and b&b so we love to meet interesting guests and travellers who respect the quality that we aim to provide. If we are out of your price range, there are opportunities to come picking for the harvest during September, so get in touch if you'd like to do that. Fire is our biggest concern, so please let us know if you are a smoker and we will discuss the rules about that before you book. We do accept bookings from families, but usually only if they are the first to book on a certain date - as we like to warn any guests who are coming for peace and quiet that there may be young children here before they book. Any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch & we'll do everything we can to make sure you have the perfect break and make the most of all the Languedoc has to offer!
