The Space

We have a private, sunny and spacious master bedroom with its own separate entrance and bathroom available in my home in Alameda.

We are located 20 minutes from San Francisco by car and only a 5 minute drive to Oakland's Chinatown. We are also very close to Jack London Square and Lake Merritt.

If you're traveling here from the San Francisco International Airport (SFO), it takes ~40 minutes by car. You can also take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from SFO to 12th St. station which also takes about 40 minutes. From 12th St. station it is a 15-20 minute bus ride or under 10 minutes by taxi to my home. We are located very close to the Oakland airport; it is a 15-20 minute drive.

There's public transportation two blocks away from my house. The O Transbay bus will take you to the San Francisco Bus Terminal. The 51A bus goes through Oakland's Chinatown, 12th St. BART station, ending at Rockridge BART station. There's also a FREE shuttle that takes you to Lake Merritt BART station. It is 15 minutes away on foot and runs every 30 minutes 7am - 12pm and 3:30pm - 6:30pm. 12th St. and Lake Merritt stations are the two BART stations closest to our home.

Our home is located in a safe neighborhood a short walk away from Webster Street, which is the main street on the west end of Alameda. It is lined with many restaurants, fast food chains (McDonald's, Taco Bell, Jack in a Box, Burger King, Subway, Wienerschnitzel), cafes, bars, gas stations (76, Chevron, Shell), etc. There's also a public library two blocks away and a big park nearby with tennis and basketball courts. If you need to pick up a quick snack or drink, there's a convenience store across the street or you can walk 15 minutes or drive a few minutes to the closest supermarket (Lucky).

Overall Guest Satisfaction
Check In
  • Trinh and Cindy were great. Our stop over was delayed, so I sent a quick email to Trinh to let her know we would be an hour or two late for check in, and they were very accommodating to the last-minute inconvenience. The space itself was everything you would need for basic travel. Towels and spare sheets/comforters were provided, as well as plates and eating utensils. It was great to know they had put thought into little things travelers might need but might not think about or take for granted.

Overall, we really enjoyed staying here, and since we're very likely to come back to Alameda in the future, we will almost definitely try to stick with Trinh and Cindy again.

  • This place was exactly what I was looking for. Nicely decorated, clean, private spot with great parking – and just a few minutes from the Alameda Ferry. Perfect! Thanks Cindy and Trinh

  • Trinh was super as our host. The room is very much clean and everything you need was there. I arranged this unit for my friends and they were 100% happy to stay there. Very quiet especially at night time. Thank you very much for your hospitality, Trinh. And look forward to seeing you in the near future. :)

  • We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and comfortable. The room was exactly as represented. The location was perfect for us-close to restaurants, the beach, markets, etc. We definitely plan to stay here on our next visit. Thanks again for being such great hosts.

  • Had an excellent stay at Trinh & Cindy's place. Easy to navigate to location from the Oakland airport. Parking in the back is a great bonus. Clear instructions and information posted on the Fridge. Room was clean and well kept. We really appreciated the coffee & tea set-up, plus all the maps and tourist info on the bookshelf.

  • This cozy apartment worked out very well for us. The private parking area was great in an urban environment where on-street parking can be a problem. Not to mention the beautiful orchids along the path to the apartment.

The apartment was clean, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very nice. The full-size refrigerator and microwave were useful, and there was even bread, peanut butter and marmalade for us. Also coffee and some very interesting teas.

  • Our stay was very restful, so quiet! Our room with a private entrance was clean and very comfortable. The bed was short for my 6'2" husband and still would have worked if there had not been a wooden foot board on the frame. Our hostess was very gracious and welcoming.

  • We've stayed in Trinh's place a couple of times and I'm sure we'll be back! The room is clean, comfortable, quite spacious, and has a very nice private bath. Trinh has always been very kind and helpful, responding quickly to our messages. One nice touch that you don't often find is the useful collection of maps and bus schedules for planning your travels in the Bay Area. (Alameda is in fact very convenient.) If you want to stay put, there's a beautiful shoreline park nearby. And with a twice-a-week farmer's market just a couple blocks away, you can actually prepare a nice, fresh meal in Trinh's room. I would recommend this peaceful place!

  • Trinh's place was better than the photos show. It was light, spacious, and very comfortable. As others have mentioned, it has been recently updated, and has all creature comforts, including wonderful loose leaf teas. It was a perfect landing spot for me after a long drive up from Southern California. Thank you, Trinh!

We are mom and daughter. We enjoy hosting and meeting people from all over. A little bit about us.... My mom Cindy is retired and enjoys gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren whenever she can. I'm Trinh and I love to travel. I enjoy exploring new places, trying different types of food and learning from my exposure and experiences. I am also an avid knitter. I knit everything from socks, scarfs, to sweaters. And I love watching TV (The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, The Big Bang Theory, etc. etc.). You can expect hosts who are responsive and endeavor to make your stay a pleasant one. We are happy to open up our home to guest who are considerate and respectful.
