About this listing
Podere (farm) is an absolutely unique place which lies just on top of the hill facing the Rocca d’Orcia tower and holds a breathtaking view of the vast and poetic senese landscape. An old farm, recently restored so that the neatness of modern architecture blends with the antique in a very powerful final result, the Podere Perelli mantains intact all the fascination of a typical Tuscan stone building.
With it’s five different units, transformed in elegant apartments refurbished with antique family furniture, the place has the looks of a small country village. The house is in the middle of a 62 acres farm, which produces bio olive oil with experimental methods and is surronunded by 25 acres of olive trees fields and a 37 acres woodland. A very fascinating place, it’s the ideal choice to spend quiet holidays, with a strong Nature all around, which makes this hidden spot of Tuscany an authentic paradise.

The site was just as beautiful as it looks in the pictures! Very peaceful, pool was so refreshing and relaxing. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was generous and delicious!!
The place is beautiful and well decorated. The apartment had two separate rooms which is very convenient with children. Two restrooms and showers is also very convenient. The view is amazing. A little hard for our little car to climb the steep road to the farm.
Pool is very nice and long - was too cold to really try it but I imagine, in a warmer weather this would be a treat.
Host, Angela, was very helpful, and was kind to wait for us on a past midnight arrival
Our stay in Podere Perelli was very nice, the apartment was comfortable, the view spectacular, the location very convenient near to many cities and villages (Pienza, Montepulciano, Siena...).
Although we found our host was not very present and advice providing at the beginning, it has improved during the week and we appreciated that.
The only negative point for us was the breakfast which was really too basic given the standing of the place. We expected fresh products as we were in a rural location (such as fresh juice, fresh fruits). Apart from that, we have had a very pleasant week, and we recommend this place to discover Toscany.
I did not meet Olimpia in Person (only had contact with her via email before coming to her place) but her Manager / colleague (?) Angela who visited the house every day and was there for questions and Support. Angela is an extremely nice and helpful Lady who had always time for our questions and a Little Chat at breakfast time or in the evenings. The house itself is situated ca. 1km away from the Center of Castiglione - however since the street from the house to Castiglione has no street lights and the way is quite steep you really Need a car to go to the Center (where you will find nice Restaurants - we especially liked "Il borgo"! :)) We really enjoyed staying at Olimpia´s place - perfectly situated in the heart of tuskany (Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano about 15km away, Siena about 1h by car), very silent, very clean, nice pool, spectacular view :) Thanks Olimpia and Angela!
The house is as beautiful as it looks in the photos and Angela is a very attentive host. The location provides for beautiful panoramas of the D'Orcia!
The one thing I would strongly recommend is that they update their location on the map on airbnb to show their actual location. Compared to the location on the airbnb map that appears to be right in Castigliano, they are roughly 1 km down a dirt road from Castigliano with a steep hill down and then up. While not a problem if you're driving a car, we were on road bikes, so while we thought we would be able to bike directly to their place based on the airbnb map, that was not the case and it turned into a major slog. I am sure it was an honest mistake, but one that should be corrected as soon as possible.
The other thing that I would recommend is changing up the breakfasts a little. It is a nice touch to offer breakfasts, but the same thing everyday got a little repetitive. Perhaps adding a hot option... although I recognize this is difficult to coordinate with multiple guests.
This agriturismo was just as pictured - beautiful and very picturesque! A little bit difficult to find but worth the drive. Lovely pool, great scenery. Room was very spacious. Wifi signal very weak in the room but perfect in the main area. Would recommend.
The apartment that we spent only one night was very good with own kitchen, little fridge, one tv, a lot of spaces, two private bathrooms (with hot water and hair dryer), and a good bed. The breakfast was good, but basic. The WiFi signal was very weak in our room - only in one small part of the room we could access the Internet, but not to watch small movies.
The view from this place is really amazing! The hills and the rock on the top are breathtaking.
It was hard to find the place even with the coordination in gps. We really thought that we were lost. We needed a help from an Italian man who lives in that area. Even with his help and day light, we were afraid because of the road. The hotel's signs are small and rare and we never ended to climbing the road to arrive there.
The place should have a kind of restaurant or little market to sell basic products and make the guest's life a little bit easier. We arrived there at the end of the day (about 17 hr), but we were so scary because the road that we didn't want to go out to have a dinner. If we didn't buy food before, we were in trouble.
Angela was very nice with us and gave a lot of tips about Toscana. She recommended a place to have dinner close to the agriturismo and also offered to go with us to the restaurant - she would drive in front of us to follow her, but we preferred to stay quiet in our room and enjoyed the view.
