Agriturismo Vald'Orcia -Quirico Apt

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Case Sparse Perelli, Castiglione, Tuscany 53023, Italy

The Space

Podere (farm) is an absolutely unique place which lies just on top of the hill facing the Rocca d’Orcia tower and holds a breathtaking view of the vast and poetic senese landscape. An old farm, recently restored so that the neatness of modern architecture blends with the antique in a very powerful final result, the Podere Perelli mantains intact all the fascination of a typical Tuscan stone building.

With it’s five different units, transformed in elegant apartments refurbished with antique family furniture, the place has the looks of a small country village. The house is in the middle of a 62 acres farm, which produces bio olive oil with experimental methods and is surronunded by 25 acres of olive trees fields and a 37 acres woodland. A very fascinating place, it’s the ideal choice to spend quiet holidays, with a strong Nature all around, which makes this hidden spot of Tuscany an authentic paradise.

  • The apartment that we spent only one night was very good with own kitchen, little fridge, one tv, a lot of spaces, two private bathrooms (with hot water and hair dryer), and a good bed. The breakfast was good, but basic. The WiFi signal was very weak in our room - only in one small part of the room we could access the Internet, but not to watch small movies.
The view from this place is really amazing! The hills and the rock on the top are breathtaking.
It was hard to find the place even with the coordination in gps. We really thought that we were lost. We needed a help from an Italian man who lives in that area. Even with his help and day light, we were afraid because of the road. The hotel's signs are small and rare and we never ended to climbing the road to arrive there.
The place should have a kind of restaurant or little market to sell basic products and make the guest's life a little bit easier. We arrived there at the end of the day (about 17 hr), but we were so scary because the road that we didn't want to go out to have a dinner. If we didn't buy food before, we were in trouble.
Angela was very nice with us and gave a lot of tips about Toscana. She recommended a place to have dinner close to the agriturismo and also offered to go with us to the restaurant - she would drive in front of us to follow her, but we preferred to stay quiet in our room and enjoyed the view.

  • Our stay was absolutely amazing in so many ways. The property has such a sense of peace and beauty. Our apartment was so roomy and beautifully designed and decorated. From the stone walls, to the arched doorways; one leading to a beautiful patio overlooking the vineyard and the other out to the cute front entrance. The water was hot and strong, the A/C was quiet and cold and the kitchen very well stocked with cooking supplies. The breakfast was so wonderful and in a room that only a picture cold convey the beauty of. We felt like royalty with the big table beautifully set and the fantastic coffee, eggs, bread, cake and homemade jams. There was cereal and juice too......but the figs from the garden were a special highlight each day. They couldn't be any fresher or more delicious. Angela would appear always with a big smile and so much enthusiasm and her sincerity in wanting us to be happy and enjoy our Tuscan stay was so apparent. She was sweet enough to go even beyond suggesting itineraries for us, but she even hand wrote them with directions. This property is very private, off a long dirt road after passing the wonderful of Castiglione D,Orcia. We loved that little town too. My husband did not want to get a GPS and I did. I let him have his way but must say that it may have helped a few times. This property is near so many cities and sites of interest. For example, Pienza, Sienna, Bagno Vignoni, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Sant" Antimo Abbey, and vineyards and beautiful roads are everywhere. Also, our trip to Bagni Di San Filippo was close by and amazing too. And San Quirico. The list is long. Angela and her family made us part of their family for the time we were there. They were sweet, sincere, kind and so welcoming. We even strolled the grounds with her incredible Dad.

Our stay there, and this part of Italy was one of the highlights of our trip. We intend to come back again, and bring more family with us. We will always remember our stay here and every time we think of this apartment and property, the feeling of beauty and serenity returns. We highly recommend staying here for it is a special place.

  • My wife, 10 month old daughter and I spent 3 days and 2 nights in Val d'Orcia and stayed in the Quirico Apt. We visited Abby of St. Antimo, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Rocca d'Orcia, local vineyards, and local restaurants in the area.

We had an amazing experience - here are some of our thoughts:

1). Finding this place is difficult and the road to the property is a poorly kept dirt road that is better suited to off road vehicles. It's also off any map, requiring that you follow directions to specific coordinates. That said - finding the place is an experience in and of itself - I kinda loved it.

1). The accommodation itself is amazing - with modern appliances, exposed brick and wooden beams, and an authentic Italian ambiance. We didn't get to use it, but there is also a pool with one of the most incredible views imaginable.
2). Amazing breakfast you can be excited to wake up to enjoy.
3). Views of the gorgeous Italian landscape
4). Apartment style gives you the flexibility of being able to use both rooms and bathrooms, and kitchen for your convenience and comfort.

My family and I had an amazing experience, and I would recommend it to anyone I know.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. The place was just like the pictures - clean, beautiful and in a great location! It was such a nice, comfortable place to come back to after exploring the gorgeous countryside. Olimpia and her cousin, Angel, were great hosts, offering dinner recommendations and things to do. I would recommend their lovely home to anyone.
