In common guesthouse is ok but there are several disadvantages
1) really bad bathroom equipment. Toilet was broken. Firstly it wasn't filled with water. Staff fixes this. Secondly it washed down very very poorly. Moreover basin had terrible fastening with drain. That's why water flew on the floor.
2) staff got extra pay for our breakfast without any notification. When we checked out administrator asked to pay 3 dollars. It turned out that it was our extra plate of fruit. this is a trifle but it is unpleasant
Good that they pick you up from airport but it's common in Siem Reap.
We had a good time at Amigo Villa. The staff was very nice and friendly, the room was nice and clean, however, it had this bad smell coming from the bathroom.
Very friendly and welcoming!
We had a nice stay! Good location, clean rooms and helpful staff.
I booked this place for a week-long stay based on the positive reviews received in the past. I unfortunately cannot reconcile those positive reviews with my experience. Despite the good location, the competence of the staff, both of the guesthouse and of the tour guides supplied by Marck, and the condition of the room itself were average at best. The positives - Good location, Marck was friendly when he was actually present, and the room was reasonably clean. The negatives - The room given was a single-bed room, not a double-bed as shown in the picture attached to this AirBnB listing. This didn't bother me too much as I was travelling alone and didn't need the extra space - however the inaccuracy should be noted. Some of the furnishings in the room and en-suite showed their age (doors which didn't close, sinks which leaned sideways, marks and stains on walls and ceilings), and the en-suite had insufficient ventilation. Marck was hardly ever at the guesthouse to answer questions or address concerns, and since the other staff couldn't answer my questions regarding the 3-day tuk-tuk tour I booked, I had to hunt Marck down more often than not. The staff were less than friendly. They almost never offered even a basic greeting upon my entrance or exit in the mornings and evenings, instead preferring to lounge in the common area and dining area keeping each other company at the expense of attention paid to guests. I couldn't even get a smile in return when I said good morning or good evening! They often didn't bother to man the reception counter, even when a guest was obviously looking for assistance. I eventually stopped trying to get their attention with storing and retrieving my room key when I entered and left, I just did it myself (which they were happy with). That said, it should be noted that when Marck was actually in the guesthouse he did man the reception counter consistently. The cleaning staff performance was spotty at best. One day I would find the room cleaned but missing a towel. Other days the room wouldn't even be cleaned, forcing me to ask for a clean at reception. The tours touted by Marck were simply run-of-the-mill tuk-tuk drivers who drove me to each location, dropped me off and picked me up. There was no "guide" to the tour, the drivers couldn't tell me anything about the locations and their command of English was basic. The driver on the first day (booked by Marck himself) even passed me off to 2 (two!) other drivers during the day because "he was busy", and those two were just as anonymous and unhelpful. Unfriendly, inattentive staff who genuinely didn't seem to care a whit for their guests. Disappearing Marck. Inconsistent cleaning service. Overpriced and underwhelming "tours" with thoroughly average drivers booked by Marck. Room given not as described. The only saving grace is the good location, but that wasn't enough to make my experience a positive...
5 minutes to go to old market and touristic center of the city. Comfortable and clean rooms and very nice and polite staff. Thank you, Marck!
Nice guesthouse within walking distance of the night market and pub street. Room was clean and comfortable, although kind of small. The staff were very polite, and they have a ton of drivers for hire. The drivers are very professional and super polite. A few even speak very good English. The free breakfast was fine, and the water and beer they have for sale is super cheap.
Booking the room was efficient, Marck responded right away and even provided pick-up for our arrival from Phnom Penh.
The room- the pictures definitely look nicer than reality. Our room didn't have a lock for the bathroom and the bathroom light didn't work (fixed upon notification). Towels weren't provided (had to request for it), even after the room was cleaned the second day, they still forgot the towels and we ran out of toilet paper. We had to go down to the front desk for it. Our fan was broken, but at least had the AC working. The toilet water was running all night, they fixed it after we told them. So overall, even though nothing ran smoothly, it would be fixed if notified.
The hotel- Great location! Only 10 min walk to Pub Street. Free breakfast, which was actually pretty good. I had expected the rooftop breakfast area, but it seems to be used for laundry now. Good price.
Overall, was disappointed with the stay since the other reviews had been good. :/
we had a nice time! the room was quite big but without windows:( the guesthouse is a bit noisy during the night ( because of other guests were talking in the hall)! the place is cheap and the food is really good too:)
I enjoyed staying at Siem Reap Amigo Villa and Tours 1. The location was great, less than a 10 minute stroll to downtown. Marck was very helpful with tour ideas and having a tuk-tuk ready for me when I needed it. The hotel was a very pleasant place to stay. I highly recommend it.
