Sweet Mid Century Pad w/ Hot Views

House - Entire home/apt · North Sunrise Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262, United States

The Space

This unique home is a combination of Zen and Modern offering areas of retreat for body, mind and soul. Each area of the home is a sanctuary on its own. There are queen size beds in each of the 2 bedrooms, and a full size bed sleeper sofa in the den.

The front living room is just right with vintage midcentury modern furnishings for a friendly conversation with family and friends, just by your self with the serenity of a good book or a movie on the brand new 60" flat panel TV (not in photos) with DVD, Netflix and Satellite. The living rooms view of the vast mountain range - through the wall of glass doors - is absolutely breathtaking with the soft sound of the waterfall in the background. The kitchen and dining room are open to the rest of the living space to make gatherings for meals a joy for everyone.

The outdoor living space is as easy as the indoor space with areas for every type of entertaining without the walls. Dine or enjoy comfortable conversation under the pergola or relax on the huge twin bed sized loungers, all surrounded by lush fauna, 22 palms, fruit trees and statuary with a Zen influence. The entire house and backyard is wifi ready and everything is only steps from the pool, spa and waterfall.

This beautiful home is set within a few minutes of downtown Palm Springs shopping, dining and casino and is also close to the many golf courses and aerial tramway... a great place for that vacation and relaxation in the sun!

  • Everything about our stay was absolutely marvelous. My best friends and I (20-somethings) decided to splurge and do three nights in this mid-century mini-palace and found the experience entirely delightful and worth every penny. We didn't want to ever leave! As in the pictures, the pad was immaculate and beautifully designed (mid century influence with a vibrant youthful, contemporary energy). I continuously marveled over the thought that had been put into each of the interior and outdoor spaces. The main living area has an amazing open floor-plan which lent itself well to group dinners that transitioned into movie-time (Chris' new HUGE TV was incredible). We spent an equal, if not more substantial, amount of time outdoors, and even though it was winter, we were lucky to catch lovely weather for hours of hot tubbing and pool time. Though we did not elect to have the pool heated, it did not stop us from enjoying the floaty orange bean bags in the pleasantly cool water during the day. The fire-pit was another wonderful touch, and we spent an evening making s'mores and stargazing.

We did run into a snafu after the pool guy came the first day and couldn't get the spa to heat correctly, but both Sonia and Chris were quick to help identify and fix the problem remotely. Also, we wish there had been an updated manual for the new TV, since we never did figure out how to work the DVD player (thankfully had brought our own, just in case.) We did figure out the indoor/outdoor stereo system, though, and that was awesome, since we could plug in our ipods and listen to our music when we were lounging or hot tubbing.

The bedrooms were also awesome, and the beds were very comfortable and snuggly.

Thanks Chris, for the best New Years we could ask for!

  • Chris is the most responsive and communicative host I've encountered so far. Any issue or question and he's 'on it' within seconds
And his house is a gorgeous, light and airy Mid-Century Modern gem just like he describes and shows in the pictures. We had a fantastic time there, loved hanging out by the pool and in the spa.

  • If I could have brought that house, that back yard and that view home, I would have; that's how much I liked it. The house is just as seen in the photos, there are no exaggerations. It is in a good location, but on a busy street, so be ready for that; it didn't bother us in the end. The hosts were available, friendly and welcoming. A great find!

  • We had a great time at this house, celebrating over thanksgiving weekend. The house is just as pictured, the backyard is amazing too. We had a few days of cooler weather, so I was glad we paid to get the pool heated - sitting in the hot tub with a view of the palms, bougainvilleas and surrounding mountains was incredible.

It is on a fairly major road, but also very convenient to markets and restaurants.

I'd absolutely recommend this place and look forward to returning.

  • Our stay was awesome!

    Few highlights:
    - Can't say enough nice things about Chris and his house manager, Sonia. Incredibly thoughtful, flexible and just really great to work with. As nice as Chris' home is, their hospitality really made the difference. We have a dog and it is so cool to have the flexibility to take her along.
    - The house is great. Beautifully redone, mid century modern and crazy comfortable. Chris, you did a great job focusing on the things that really matter: relaxing backyard with great pool and mountain view, big kitchen, nice open living/family/dining and cozy bedrooms.
    - Location is great, 15 min. walk / 5 minute bike ride to downtown. Bike path right across the street - if I'm nitpicking, no sidewalk right out front so just have to be aware when you go out for a run/walk/bike but plenty of roadside to negotiate to the intersection a short 30 feet away.
    - Pool is great. large, has a spa, you can pay for it to be heated if you like (definitely do it out of the warm season). Has great furniture to allow for maximum relaxation mode and was left wondering what immortal invented bean bag floatation?!
    - Will definitely stay there again and highly recommend!
    - Past all the amazing things about Chris' home and to dig deep on constructive feedback - there is some road noise for folks that might be more sensitive to it but the pool's fountain does an awesome job blocking it out. Also, and I may have just not found it, but temporary wifi connectivity would be awesome.

Do you and your family a favor and book some time, you won't regret it!

  • Chris' house is the epitome of Palm Springs: mid-century furniture, open spaces, a pool + spa, views and relaxation. It's so close to everything too. We had a great time there and when something broke, he and Sonia (house manager) were on it immediately. Sonia checked in on us periodically to make sure things were still good and Chris followed up. Great guy and great house, we will be back next year.

  • Chris was AMAZING to deal with: quick and communicative. His home was exactly pictured as is and was the perfect spot to relax and work (main reason we came). The home and pool was perfect...we used the bbq in the back too and he had so many great spots to sit in the back yard!! HIGHLY RECOMMNED and will come back for sure! Thanks for the nice time Chris!

  • Chris' place is my favorite spot in Palm Springs. Fantastic pool (with a waterfall built in!), spacious, super clean and comfy, with all the details that made my stay perfect.... Not to mention he's a nice guy that's easy to get in touch with.

Highly recommended for your next trip to Palm Springs.

  • My family and I had a great time staying here. Chris and Sonia were very attentive by checking in to make sure we were happy with everything. Even when something came up that wasn't pleasant they were quick to try to make me happy.
