Other Things to Note
Most of the guests have noted that the cottage/house is larger than it appears in the photos. All the rooms are spacious. The dwelling is approximately 1150 square feet in size.
Please no smoking in the dwelling. Outside on porch is OK. A well behaved pet is fine but there is no fenced area. We have a couple of cats so a dog would need to be non threatening to our cats. ***Please notify us prior to booking if you want to bring a dog. We do not charge a pet fee but would like to be informed if there is a dog coming with you. Miller Avenue is quiet to walk your pet on a leash and the park is nearby. The campus on weekends is a great place to walk either with your pet or just enjoy the rose garden, sculptures and the creek that flows through the campus. Upper park allows pets off leash on the north side.
Our hosts were very welcoming and sweet. They even offered to drive us to our son's graduation and had some goodies for us in the refridgerator. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent it again!
Happy that your stay was pleasant and all went well. You certainly left the place tidy. As for the mold smell, I have addressed the issue (I think it is the bedroom closet) which seldom gets used and is on the north side of the house). Hope the wedding you attended was fun. Phyllis & John
Beautiful house in a great Chico neighborhood. John & Phyllis were wonderful hosts.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage that we rented in Chico. It was very roomy; seemed much bigger than pictured. It was very clean and the kitchen was stocked with everything you might need for cooking, not just equipment and utensils but some basic spices, oil and vinegar. There wasn’t anything that we lacked for the cooking that we did, but I think if I had asked to borrow anything at all, it would have been readily supplied. A very nice touch was the food supplied for us: fresh fruit, yogurt, biscotti, microwave popcorn, coffee, tea, and even half and half in the fridge. Phyllis also had some fresh flowers in both the bedroom and living room – a truly welcoming touch.
The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had an ample number of fluffy towels, along with extensive amenities such as Q-tips, cotton balls, several soaps, shampoo, and a night light (much appreciated!).
We particularly enjoyed sitting in the back yard of the main house, which Phyllis & John invited us to do when they were out for the evening one day of our stay. The gardens are amazing, and we enjoyed the company of Tom-Tom, their very sociable cat.
Should we be in Chico again anytime soon, we will definitely want to stay here again!
This is a jewel of an airbnb. Like being in the country, but it's within 5 minutes of downtown Chico. Really quiet place. Much bigger than most airbnb's I've stayed in. Great!
This beautiful cottage, along with Phyllis & John, made us feel right at home. Fresh flowers, fluffy linens, a hawks nest right outside our door, all this on a quiet street close to town, who could ask for anything more? Not us! We came to spend the weekend and visit our daughter at CSU. Phyllis made sure to have extra linens out for our daughter's sleepover and both she & John had great recommendations for the area. This is definitely our new go-to place when visiting Chico!
I can't say enough about my stay with John and Phyllis. The cottage is exactly as pictured and is very comfortable and clean. The instructions were very clear on how to work everything down to the Cable/DVD player. Phyllis made it very easy for me to check in and out as my schedule changed a bit and wasn't exactly how I had originally planned. I will be back for sure!
Not sure why there was a problem with the WiFi. I think it had to be the storm as our neighbor said they had to have the Comcast people out. Glad the cable worked well which is thru Comcast but so is the WiFi. Seems to be in order now. Glad that your stay was good.
Phyllis and John are ideal airbnb hosts as evidenced by the many great reviews. We spent 2 nights/3 days at the cottage and it exceeded our expectations. It's comfortable, quiet, safe and suited our little dog Twig perfectly as well!
We appreciated having coffee ready to brew in the morning as well as fruit and yogurt.
Phyllis' floral handiwork was evident through the house, too.
Very nice space and we're so happy we stayed there!

We both like to garden (Phyllis most of all). I enjoy cooking in the winter, in summer there is so much to do in the garden and I want to be outdoors when I can. Love a good movie and a good book. Absolutely love animals, all kinds.
