Byamshire is located a stone's throw away from Grenada's nine hole golf course and is perched atop a hill in a valley over looking a marina inhabited by several species of birds and other wildlife.
The gardens attract hummingbirds which keep coming back to be fed. We are a ten minute drive [ 8 miles ] fom the airport and city centre and a walk away from the famous Grand Anse beach.
My husband and I are the perfect hosts...he will keep you well entertained and I will keep you well fed if needs be. An ideal spot for laid back retirees.
The twin beds in this room can be converted into a king and accomodate two persons. The room is cooled by tropical breezes or, if necessary, ceiling fans; and there is one shared bathroom.
A covered verandah allows you to enjoy the scenery and the view and, if you feel like it, a snooze in the hammock while being wafted by the breezes. There is also an uncovered deck where you could get ample doses of vitamin D.
What an amazing time we had here! Judith and Tim were such gracious hosts, full of interesting info and stories about the island. Judith's breakfast were delicious and made each morning with a lot of love - we already miss the aromatic, spiced cocoa. The house and grounds are beautiful, and we immensely enjoyed our daily walks to the beach. In the late afternoons, we loved sitting out on the terrace and listening to the wind chimes and watching the hummingbirds, and I had a few very peaceful naps in the hammock. Our 2-year old daughter was made to feel right at home, and she called Judith "baba"- a title she reserves only for her grandmother :) Little Olivia also enjoyed their cute little dog Princess, who she gleefully referred to as 'wa wa" in her own baby language. Princess was very gentle and patient with her.
We were at Byamshire for almost 10 days in total and wish we could have stayed longer. We left with the feeling that we had made close friends - like family- and left with memories for a lifetime. Thank you Judith and Time, we love you! It is so good to know that we now have "relatives" in Grenada :)
Byamshire, a lovely home indeed! Gracious, caring hosts, Judith and Tim and their affectionate, dog Princess are incredibly welcoming. An artistically furnished home in an exquisite garden setting. Sit on the beautiful verandahs overlooking lush green hills rolling down to a harbour full of sailing vessels. Fall asleep to the sound of crickets and singing frogs in a very comfortable bedroom with cool, fragrant breezes and be awakened by songbirds.
Judith greeted us each morning with delicious home made breakfasts, lovingly prepared and catering to our individual dietary needs. Conversations were lively and interesting, Tim and Judith sharing their extensive knowledge of Grenadian life and history. we felt so well cared for, arriving as strangers and leaving, feeling that we have new cherished friends .
There is so much to love about Byamshire and nothing to dislike. My wife and I fell head over heels for Tim, Judy and their lovely accommodations. The house is a Caribbean delight with magnificent views and an understated elegance.
We were greeted each day by wonderful views of the water in the distance, hummingbirds constantly foraging among the many flowers in the garden and an overall sense of ease that helped melt away stress.
Caribbean breezes were a constant companion as they blew over the veranda and through the house, surrounding us with the many beautiful scents of Grenada. I've never been one to nap but the gentleness of the wind lulled me into such a state that I could hardly resist.
But as wonderful as the accommodations are (and they are wonderful) it was really the hosts, Judy and Tim, that made our time there so very special. You will be hard pressed to find two people who are more open-hearted, fun to speak with, and genuinely wonderful.
They were exceptionally kind, patient, and eager to share with us the many flavors and culture of Grenada. Judy fixed wonderfully delicious breakfasts, enthusiastically accommodating my wife's dietary needs. Tim entertained us with his excellent storytelling abilities. They both eagerly answered all the questions we had about the island. We felt that we were both expertly introduced to the Grenadian art of conversation, or "Liming".
The house is literally a 17 minute walk down to the Grand Anse Beach where you can catch a bus to anywhere you need to go. We were searching for a place that would be just slightly off the beaten path but still convenient and that's exactly what Byamshire gave us.
Airbnb didn't seem to do a super job of showing where Byamshire was really located but here is a (website hidden) map to the locations: (website hidden)(phone number hidden)
We were given an excellent and authentic introduction to Grenada and the wider Caribbean and were sorely disappointed when we had to leave. Tim and Judy are excellent hosts with a wonderful home that they share joyfully with guests.
