Basecamp Lodge is designed to be a retreat for outdoor enthusiasts (cyclists, runners, hikers, etc) interested in coming to the area for a little slice of nature. We welcome families, small groups, teams, and anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Pet-friendly!

The space
Basecamp Lodge is built around an original & historic 1800s log cabin.

The property is adjacent to the Frederick Municipal Forest & Watershed with a river/creek running along the edge of the property, a spring & stream in the backyard along the tree line, nearby access to local multi-use trails, and plenty of outdoor entertainment space (decks, patios, etc).

The house has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, full kitchen with attached dining area, laundry room, living room, library area, event/family room, private work spaces, decks, and an outdoor patio. There is also an attached, converted garage that serves as a 3-season room and group gathering space with a bike work station and room for outdoor equipment storage.

NOTE: We live next door and often cross through the back section of the property to access the trails. There is also a Hipcamp site at our pull-off area across the street.

Guest access
The entire house is available to guests (however, there is no guest access to the basement)

Other things to note
Since Basecamp Lodge is on a considerably wooded property and near the forest, we urge guests to prepare for the outdoors. Nature is all around you! You may see local wildlife along with flora and fauna. Please don't feed or touch any wild animals.

We do our best to mitigate the amount of “nature” that makes its way into the house; however, there are a few live plants in the downstairs common spaces (kitchen & living room areas).

There are exterior lights on the driveway and entry/exit points of the house, but please take care and watch your step when walking along the gravel, stone, grass, and wooden areas.

NOTE: This is an older house. There are some interesting and unique features. The original, log cabin sections of the house (den/library and 2 smaller bedrooms upstairs) have lower ceilings than the other areas: 6-foot height. Sorry, the wood-burning stove/fireplace is not available for guest usage at this time.
