The Apartment is full of light and colours. It has lovely domed "Boveda" ceilings. The kitchen has all our guests need to cook a wonderful meal and sit outside in their own covered patio and read a book in their private daybed and sitting area.

The space

A wonderful, sunny, one bedroom apartment in an artist's house in San Migue de Allende, Mexico. fantastic view of the town and valley from a sunny terrace. private patio. Wi-fi internet. quiet neighborhood and close to historical center. Fully stocked kitchen. full washroom with shower. Private shady day bed and sitting area just outside kitchen area. Sunny common patio with outdoor charcoal grill. Apartment has balconies to the street and a Juliet balcony overlooking house's patio. The common areas include a great patio with sitting area overlooking the town and the valley. Great sunsets and storms approaching. A lookout rooftop above the art studio, great for hanging out in the shade of the bamboo dome and read a book and feel the breezes. Large grocery store half a block away. Close to everything San Miguel has to offer. The Santa Julia bus stops at the corner of our street.

Guest access

Our guests can enjoy wonderful sunsets from the terrace, where we often join them for a glass of wine and music. The nest (see photos of bamboo structure) is also a wonderful place to sit and read book and watch the entire town below. It has a 360 degree view.

Interaction with guests

We want our guests to enjoy their privacy while they stay at Casa las Palomas, but we find that since Joyce and I love to meet all the wonderful people that come to stay with us; we often gather at the terrace in the evenings , for the spectacular sunsets. We also love staying and and cooking simple but tasty meals from great local food and we often invite our guests to join us. Cooking is best when shared with friends, a glass of wine and good conversation.
Also, first time visitors to San Miguel join us in our daily walks to the centro and sometimes sit with us at the cafes, where we can talk about the many wonderful things to see and visit.

Other things to note

Some guests have asked us about the fountain in our courtyard. They ask about how much noise it makes. It is just a trickle.
It is set up on a timer and it shuts off at 10 pm.

Everyone who has enjoyed our house has been wonderful, friendly and very respectful of our Casa las Palomas. The house has various common areas where guests often find themselves sitting down and getting to know each other. My wife and I find this very charming and love getting to know our guests when we are there.

Everything about our stay in San Miguel at La Casa Paloma was enchanting! Fresh flowers greeted us upon arrival and the colors of the apartment and the surrounding landscape were dazzling. We had everything we needed for our month-long stay. Anything we lacked was quickly provided by the housekeeper, Alicia, or by communication with Ricardo, who was always immediately responsive to any question. We loved having the outdoor living space which felt cozy and comfortable even during the few days of rain. Anyone new to San Miguel de Allende, as we were, should be aware that it is a hilly town with cobblestone streets. Combined with the high altitude, it may take a few days to get used to the walk to the Centro, as part of it is uphill from the apartment. There are lots of shopping options throughout San Miguel. Take time to explore the many small bodegas and the nearby Mercado on Guadalupe where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables and wonderful cheeses. We have enjoyed our stay tremendously! Many thanks to Ricardo and Joyce for helping us decide that we want to spend more time exploring Mexico!

A lovely apartment. I especially enjoyed the private porch area. A nice space to drink my morning coffee in! Alecia, was wonderful. In addition to her duties taking care of the property, she also helped me with my spanish. When there was a minor plumbing problem, it was immediately taken care of. I look forward to staying there again.

The place is charming and very delightful. It's location away from the heavy tourist areas is much appreciated. The barking of the neighbor's dogs takes some getting use to but ignoring them helps.

Casa Las Palomas is FABULOUS! My best airnbnb renting experience ever! The apartment is so much more beautiful than the pictures, and the courtyard it overlooks is like a painting full of the most gorgeous colors. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Ricardo or Joyce in person, but the communication with them was fantastic, and Alicia, their house manager and housekeeper, did an incredible job of both making me feel at home from the moment of my arrival to keeping the whole place spotless. The mixed neighborhood is charming and quirky, and not far from the historical center. I can't say enough about this place--it's absolute heaven in every way!

We stayed two months in "The Apartment" between May and August but did not get to meet Ricardo and Joyce. Please note we are not vacationers but long term travelers who write and plan "on the road", so our comments are from that vantage point. The description and photos are fairly accurate. The gardens are more mature now making for a stunningly beautiful garden setting. We were greeted by Alicia, an excellent property manager, who left us some food for our first few mornings which was very much appreciated. She accommodated an early check-in, brought an umbrella for us to use, cleaned once a week and checked in often. We loved the neighborhood which is mostly local working class families, with several small grocery stores, produce stands, and tortillerias nearby making it convenient for food shopping and keeping it very local. The views from the Veranda and the Nest are beautiful especially early morning when you may catch sight of a hot air balloon, and evenings. The Apartment is about a 20 minute walk from the central Jardin, buses and taxis are plentiful and affordable if you don't feel like making the walk. If you're there for an extended period, take advantage of the numerous routes into town and you'll encounter amazing murals. For us the location was the best we could have hoped for. Additional information: The private outdoor "living room" was very nice, but since we were there during the rainy season we were unable to utilize it as much as we had hoped. The space took in water during downpours, so we were sweeping water away from that area and with the combination of heat and wet there were mosquitoes. Mosquitoes were also an issue indoors since there are no screens on the windows/doors, which meant we didn't open them so we were grateful we had a fan. We did purchased mosquito coils for outside and the small electric vapor pellets for indoor use which helped. The doors/windows do not seal so when it rains/downpours and the wind is blowing you can end up with water in the kitchen and bedroom, so if you're there during rainy season just plan to request extra towels, then sopping up the wter is no real issue. The kitchen is very well equipped: full size fridge, oven, stove, nice cookware, dishes etc... but items such as oil and a few spices would have been nice. The wifi speed was okay much of the time but only seemed to work in the bedroom and with writing and trip planning it was a bit less convenient. Lighting in the bedroom at night was not real good for working or reading. The water pressure in "The Apartment" shower was low, however the bathroom sink and kitchen sink were fine. We loved having the washing machine and clothes line. Alicia was a great contact. The price for this length of stay was very good.

We were happy with our "casita" The Apartemento. Upon arrival we were met by Alicia, the manager. She showed us around and made us feel very welcome, providing us with us some amenities so we didn't have to go out immediately to shop. Although a little small, it met our needs for a 30 day stay and the price was very fair. Besides a large bedroom, kitchen/dining area, it has a nice private outdoor space with a daybed and chairs, a BIG plus! There are several other public outdoor areas in the compound to relax in. Another amenity was a washer and clothes lines to hang out the laundry, which dries very fast in the open air. We also enjoyed meeting and getting to know the other guests. We liked living in the mixed, mostly Mexican neighborhood and could easily walk to Centro in 15-20 minutes. We would recommend this rental.
