About this listing
Quality accommodation for travelers wanting home comforts at an affordable price. Located in booming South Lamar, this 2000sf condo features contemporary and mid-century interiors, comfy bedding, city views, secure parking and easy bus access.
Enjoy a sunny, private room with queen bed and a full bath. Your room is on the 2nd floor of a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath home. You will share with my husband Rob and I the ground-floor living, kitchen, dining, home office, half-bath, & utility rooms. You'll also have shared access to three separate outdoor living spaces: Backyard covered patio with gas grill, 2nd floor covered patio, and 3rd floor roof deck with wonderful city views. One off-street parking space is provided right outside the door.
The living area offers a 47" TV with surround sound, basic cable, internet access and Apple TV. The home office on the 1st floor has a large desk and wireless printing. Hi-Speed WiFi is included.
Guest room is private. One Full Guest Bath is private unless the other guest room is also occupied, in which case you share the Guest Bath. Half-bath is also available nearby. The rest of the house is shared space.
Interaction with Guests
If we're home during your stay, our bedroom is nicely situated to provide privacy to the guest room area. We're adaptable to a wide range of interaction levels with guests; you set the tone.
The home is situated just 1.5 miles south of the shores of beautiful Lady Bird Lake, Zilker Park & Barton Springs Pool. You're less than a mile from the Barton Creek Green Belt. You are right in the middle of the transitioning, booming, exploding South Lamar (SoLa) neighborhood. There are 100 retail shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues alone on the 3.5-mile stretch of Lamar between Lady Bird Lake and Ben White Boulevard and more opening all the time. The influx has created some interesting contrasts — with boutique shops, trendy salons and hip restaurants coexisting with taxidermy shops and honky-tonks. If mexican food is your thing, this is smack dab in the middle of Tex-Mex heaven, folks. Easy walk to Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co., Olivia, Barley Swine tapas, Henri's wine and cheese, Lick ice cream, LuLu B's vietnamese, Horseshoe Lounge, El Meson, Black Sheep, Sezon, East Side King and a 24-hour CVS. A very short distance to Uchi, Odd Duck, Barlotta, Winebelly, Habanero, Matt's El Rancho, Maria's Taco Village, Torchy's Tacos, Gordough's Public House & Kerby Lane Cafe. So, so many more . . .
Uber, Lyft and Car2Go are available and it's a 5-minute walk from the condo to the Rapid Bus stop. You are 3 miles from the intersection of 6th Street and Congress, the heart of downtown: 10 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bike, and 25 minutes by bus. You can often pick up a Car2Go within walking distance and park it right out front when you're through with it.
Car2Go is also a great way to get to my house from the airport. To pick up a Car2Go, take the free shuttle from the terminal to the Parking Spot remote parking lot.
Super Shuttle is a shared ride service that takes up to 10 passengers at a time. It's about half the cost of a taxi, but could potentially take much longer. Super Shuttle is available at the airport in the rental car area.
It is possible to get from the airport to my house using the Capitol Metro bus service, but I do not recommend it. The route is long and requires multiple transfers.
Other Things to Note
I'm happy to provide morning coffee or tea. Just let me know the night before. You are welcome to make coffee anytime.
I don't serve breakfast, but I'm happy to offer a selection of self-serve hot and cold cereals, fruits, breakfast bars and milk. Let me know prior to arrival if you'd like to take advantage of this.
Help yourself to clean linens and towels at any time.
I also rent the two guest rooms together. Accommodates 4. See:

Staying at Doug and Rob’s place exceeded all my expectations. They have obviously put a lot of thought into setting up their house for guests and their careful attention to detail made my stay really enjoyable. Doug and Rob were very friendly hosts and the location was perfect for exploring Austin.
Doug was extremely accommodating with check in and check out. I was even able to add a day on to my stay at last minutes notice. He was also very helpful in giving suggestions of places to go and things to do.
The description of the place is just as described in the listing page. The place was comfortable, clean, and with all the amenities I needed for a pleasant stay.
My interactions with Doug were great; he is a welcoming and friendly host. He was also very flexible to accommodate my arrival time. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience! I will be happy to stay as his place again next time I am visiting Austin, TX!
Doug was a great host and the place was super cool. I would totally stay here again.
Doug was very communicative through my stay and very hospitable. Besides having excellent taste in furniture and design, they also have amazing recommendations for restaurants! Take their suggestions if you want to have a great time out - even if you're only looking for things in walking distance!
Doug was a great host! He welcomed me as soon as I arrived and gave me a tour of his home. The townhouse is beautiful and just like the pictures. Doug has definitely thought about what his guests expect for comfort. The rooms are bright and decorated with understated elegance. I would definitely recommend Doug's space to my friends and would stay again when I'm in town.
Doug was so kind and accommodating, especially when our already late flight got delayed. His home was beautiful and exactly as described. We slept better at Doug's than any hotel we've stayed in, and would definitely stay again!

About the Host, Doug
I'm an easy-going guy who enjoys indie music, mexican food and mid-century design. I want to provide a peaceful, clean and comfortable environment for your visit. I've lived in Austin for more than 30 years, and in the SoLa neighborhood for five, and I'm happy to help you find just the right restaurants, bars and other hot spots that will make your visit memorable.
