Hi Travelers! We have a sweet, spacious attic room here in our 1924 house in the wooded, hilly Elysian Heights neighborhood of Echo Park. It has a private bathroom, nice views, comfortable queen bed, a kitchenette in your room and you have full use of house kitchen downstairs.
Lovely walkable streets, stairways and trails are everywhere, and you are close to Echo Park cafes, galleries, shops, restaurants and flourishing Sunset Boulevard nightlife. We are in the heart of old Los Angeles with the communities of Silverlake, Los Feliz, Atwater Village, Lincoln Heights, Downtown and Hollywood are all very close.
Echo Park Lake has just been reopened after a 2 year restoration and it is stunningly beautiful, with palm trees and water lilies and paddleboat rentals. We also have access to the Los Angeles River a block away, which has a very nice bike trail.
We have 2 designated street parking spaces right in front of the house and there is a bus stop at the end of the street.
The room is private and quiet with it's own entrance. Comfortable queen-size bed. The bathroom is all yours, in the room. There is a small balcony facing the garden. You will wake up to birds singing every day.
In your room you have a refrigerator and toaster oven, hot water kettle, coffee press and grinder. Downstairs there is a full kitchen for guests with everything else you might need. We provide help-yourself breakfast for the first week of your stay. The laundry is downstairs, right off the kitchen.
This has been our home for almost 14 years. We love it and our neighborhood and hope you will too!
Please wash your dishes and clean up when using the house kitchen.
Please don't smoke in the house, but feel free to use the balcony outside your room.
We moved to LA without an apartment and used the attic as our home base for the first month. I'm very glad we did! The space, itself, was energizing, with great light and air. Jonathan and Christina were attentive and welcoming hosts. There are two additional airbnb rooms in the house below. We enjoyed getting to know the other residents. Especially during our first month in LA, when we knew few other people in the city, it was nice to feel a sense of community at the house. That said, we had plenty of privacy in the attic space, including a private entrance. We could go days without seeing other residents, or make a point to drop in to the shared kitchen and say hello. The location was good, too. If you're trying to see a lot of LA in a short time, you'll probably want a car at this location. That said, the 603 bus is 2 blocks away. Coffee shops, restaurants, and bars are a bit of a walk, but still do-able. The terrain is hilly, which makes for more demanding walks, but great views of the city and interesting architecture. Easy drives to Pasadena, Atwater Village, Glendale, Hollywood, Downtown. Parking was easy, too.
Jonathan was great. Super friendly but also great about giving me space. Great communication through text. He even offered to pick me up from Union Station if I needed a ride once I landed. The attic is really charming. I personally felt like it was a great place to get writing done, which I know is a pretty specific observation but it's true. I liked how secluded it felt while still being so close to everything you'd need in Echo Park. Everything is laid out really well and he provides everything you need. He left me coffee and bagels and yogurt too, which really felt above and beyond. Also he has a very sweet dog. Recommend fully and will be writing to Jonathan again next time I'm in LA to see if the attic is free.
Our stay with Jonathan and his assistant, Christine, was wonderful! The cupboard was stocked with plenty of breakfast essentials. Christine greeted us with a very friendly demeanor upon our arrival, and made sure that we were set for the duration - including providing us with a vase of fresh cut flowers. Christine also had plenty of wonderful tips for exploring the nearby surroundings. Overall, it was a wonderful stay indeed!
I very much enjoyed staying at Jonathan's place and would definitely return. Jonathan is friendly, helpful and approachable. The house is in a great neighbourhood, which is good to walk around. The attic is a great space which is self contained but there is easy access to the kitchen and the other people who were staying there were very friendly too. The garden is lovely as is Bessie the dog.
Quaint, comfortable and the perfectly convenient way to get settled into Los Angeles. I am a recent transplant to LA and needed a transitional space get cozy. The attic provided a unique experience with complete privacy. Jonathan was incredibly accommodating and made for a fantastic host, stocking the fridge with delicious Trader Joes continental breakfast items. Highly recommend booking this space for true bed n breakfast hospitality.
Jonathan's attic is such a great space to stay in, and Jonathan is really the perfect host! Friendly, helpful, responsive and kind. The attic allows you the pleasure of living like a local, whilst having the privacy of your own separate quiet space. The space is light and airy and has pretty views. The amenities are ample, including a fridge, griller/toaster and kettle to make your own meals (with a full kitchen shared downstairs). You also have your own bathroom and enough room to sit and read or work if need be. The place is situated well and is in a safe area, close to numerous buses that take you right into the centre of Silverlake/Sunset Junction or Downtown, whilst being close to freeways if you have a car. We rode our bicycles everywhere with ease so this is also a perfect option. We absolutely loved the space and were lucky enough to have the pleasure of making a wonderful new friend too :)
Jonathan was a great host! You have privacy, but he is also very prompt in responding to questions. Bessie the resident dog has a ton of energy, but is a big sweetheart. The room is very inviting and spacious enough for a couple and a little dog. Between your own private mini-kitchen and the public kitchen below, you have everything you need to do some basic cooking. The neighborhood is lovely for walking the dog; a 15 minute walk through the neighborhood brings you to the hiking trails of Elysian Park. We stayed a month in Jonathan's attic and would highly recommend the place!! Very peaceful and friendly!!

Hi I'm Jonathan. I'm a parent & an artist. I've lived in Los Angeles for a little over 20 years and in this house for nearly 14. I design and produce a small line of ceramic lamps and collaborate on a few other projects.
I'm really excited about sharing my home and this beautiful, evolving neighborhood with friendly, respectful travelers and future friends. I'll be glad to show you around and make sure you have everything you need.
I think the idea of sharing our places and looking out for each other can change things.
