Hi Travelers! We have a sweet, spacious attic room here in our 1924 house in the woodsy, hilly Elysian Heights neighborhood of Echo Park. It has a private bathroom, nice views, comfortable queen bed, a kitchenette in your room and you have full use of house kitchen downstairs.
Lovely walkable streets, stairways and trails are everywhere, and you are close to Echo Park cafes, galleries, shops, restaurants and flourishing Sunset Boulevard nightlife. We are in the heart of old Los Angeles with the communities of Silverlake, Los Feliz, Atwater Village, Lincoln Heights, Downtown and Hollywood are all very close.
Echo Park Lake has just been reopened after a 2 year restoration and it is stunningly beautiful, with palm trees and water lilies and paddleboat rentals. We also have access to the Los Angeles River a block away, which has a very nice bike trail.
We have 2 designated street parking spaces right in front of the house and there is a bus stop at the end of the street.
The room is private and quiet with a queen bed. The bathroom is all yours, in the room. There is a small balcony facing the garden. You will wake up to birds singing every day.
In your room you have a refrigerator and toaster oven, hot water kettle, coffee press and grinder. Downstairs there is a full kitchen for guests with everything else you might need. We provide help-yourself breakfast for the first week of your stay. The laundry is downstairs, right off the kitchen.
This has been our home for 12 years. We love it and our neighborhood and hope you will too!

Quaint, comfortable and the perfectly convenient way to get settled into Los Angeles. I am a recent transplant to LA and needed a transitional space get cozy. The attic provided a unique experience with complete privacy. Jonathan was incredibly accommodating and made for a fantastic host, stocking the fridge with delicious Trader Joes continental breakfast items. Highly recommend booking this space for true bed n breakfast hospitality.
Jonathan's attic is such a great space to stay in, and Jonathan is really the perfect host! Friendly, helpful, responsive and kind. The attic allows you the pleasure of living like a local, whilst having the privacy of your own separate quiet space. The space is light and airy and has pretty views. The amenities are ample, including a fridge, griller/toaster and kettle to make your own meals (with a full kitchen shared downstairs). You also have your own bathroom and enough room to sit and read or work if need be. The place is situated well and is in a safe area, close to numerous buses that take you right into the centre of Silverlake/Sunset Junction or Downtown, whilst being close to freeways if you have a car. We rode our bicycles everywhere with ease so this is also a perfect option. We absolutely loved the space and were lucky enough to have the pleasure of making a wonderful new friend too :)
Jonathan was a great host! You have privacy, but he is also very prompt in responding to questions. Bessie the resident dog has a ton of energy, but is a big sweetheart. The room is very inviting and spacious enough for a couple and a little dog. Between your own private mini-kitchen and the public kitchen below, you have everything you need to do some basic cooking. The neighborhood is lovely for walking the dog; a 15 minute walk through the neighborhood brings you to the hiking trails of Elysian Park. We stayed a month in Jonathan's attic and would highly recommend the place!! Very peaceful and friendly!!
Hey everyone. I had a wonderful time in Echo Park. Jonathan was a great, mindful host and fun to talk to. The attic space was a perfect homebase for my adventures. I was in town for a music festival and was super close to all the spots I needed to hit on Sunset, but I felt like I was in the woods and away from all the craziness. I would recommend this space and (Jonathan as a 'landlord') to anyone heading this way. Parking was easy, the vibes were mellow, the water was hot, and the bed was comfy. I would have stayed longer than 4 days but the place was booked!
It was a wonderful stay ! Stylish , clean , artistic and cozy with great attitude of the owner . Thank you , Jonathan , for your care ! It's definitely the place where I would like to return .
Jonathan was fantastic! His home was lovely and even more wonderful than the pictures! He was very helpful in sharing local haunts and hangs and helping a non-native get around. There was a light breakfast available and the overall vibe was very relaxed and hospitable. He even picked me up from Union Station after getting off the airplane! Also, the other airbnb guests staying at Jonathan's place were an awesome and interesting bunch of folks from all over the world! Very cool, and highly recommended.
Jonathan was a great host. He was available throughout our entire stay, he was able to answer any questions we had and provide recommendations for food and places to check out in the neighborhood. The attic was very clean, comfortable and spacious. We will definitely stay here again if Jonathan will have us.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Jonathan's Hillside Haven is the perfect mix of cozy, vintage and creative. He had a nice variety of breakfast options stocked in the refrigerator and cupboards, perfect to get your morning started. Jonathan was very accommodating with checking in and out. If you get time to see his studio I highly recommend it, he's a very talented artist and designer. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to future stays and a potential working design relationship.
Such a lovely room and a great place to stay. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to stay in LA. Jonathan is really helpful and makes you feel very welcome. Perfect location if you want to be close to hollywood but not right within all the madness. Always room on the street to park and great views.
