A great place to base yourself while in Marrakesh. . Breakfast was outstanding, the best we had in Morocco. Unfortunately for us, circumstances didn't allow us to try (website hidden) and Philippe were great with communication and followup, arranged multiple taxis and checked on us regularly and made sure we were well taken care of.
Jean Phillipe's riad in the medina was perfect for my family. It was exactly as per his description and pictures.
We had a fantastic time staying here and highly recommend having Fatima prepare the evening meal for you - she is an exquisite chef and prepared some of our most memorable meals of the trip.
If you are considering a Riad in Marrakech at a good price then look no further. Can't recommend this highly enough and had a great stay for the whole family from collection at airport to a late check out on our last day.
Arrangements were easy with Jean Philippe with prompt replies and detailed information. Philippe, who is Jean Philippe's agent in Marrakech, is a lovely guy who met us with the driver at the airport and really helped us settle in with maps and advice on where to visit, eat and excursions etc which was really nice. He provided us with bottled water for our first night as it was quite late when we arrived and showed us how to use the wifi etc. He checked in then at intervals to see if we had any problems or questions and even offered to travel by moped to the Carrefour outside the walls to buy us some wine for our dinner! We tried the Hammam nearby on Philippes recommendation too and would recommend a lovely relaxing massage.
The location of the Riad is good - about a 10-15 minute walk to the square and about the same to Gueliz for supermarket, Jardin Majorelle etc. There are small shops and street stalls really close for snacks and water etc. (lovely fresh doughnuts our kids loved!) It's down quite a narrow alley but then again this is the Medina so to be expected.
The breakfasts were great keeping all 5 of us happy with pancakes, bread, eggs, croissants and fresh orange juice and coffee. Fatima is a lovely lady who also made us delicious homemade dinners on two nights by arrangement - great to come back to after a long day!
The photos are accurate and the Riad itself is lovely. Even though it was December it was about 20 degrees so we managed a bit of time on the roofterrace. The living room area has a wood fire which was cosy at night and the DVD player takes a USB stick and plays MP4 and AVI files which was great for keep our girls happy at night. There was a gas heater available too and plug in oil heaters for the bedrooms so even though I was worried a Riad might be cold in December it worked out fine for us and we had no problems.
On thing is that you will need some French - thankfully my wife does - Fatima and Philippe have little English but I'm sure we could have figured it out if needed.
In short would definitely highly recommend Riad 62 and thought it was great value for our family break. Lots of space for us and the layout suited as two of the bedrooms are effectively joined which was handy for our kids. Philippe and Fatima are real gems and we really enjoyed our stay - just wish we'd had longer!
Jean Phillippe's good friend Philippe picked us up from the airport and got us settled into the Riad, he was very friendly and welcoming. He did not speak English so he arranged for his friend Zak to meet us at the Riad in the morning for us to ask any questions we had.
Zak was extremely helpful and answered all my cultural, geographical and random questions in perfect English.
The highlight of the stay was Fatima's cooking. She is the cook who handles the complimentary breakfast with an assortment of pancakes, crepes and sometimes omelettes always with wonderful orange juice and coffee.
We booked her services for our evening meals every other night (there were enough leftovers for the following evening) during our month stay. We asked her to cook whatever she pleased and we were delighted by everything she produced. The Tagine's, couscous and soups were supplemented with very Moroccan entrées, salads and bread.
The children enjoyed all of the different seating areas for their games and learning exercises.
We love the riad so much especially the design in the house is really comfortable and the food is so warmed and delicious compare to outside in marakesh. We started to miss the food which cooked by Fatima when we leave, Thank you so much to Fatima. Although it is not very close to the main market but it also not far away.
I travelled last 2 weeks with 5 other friends in Morocco. The Riad of JP was our best stay without doubt. The interior were marvelous, the food superb, and the location (website hidden) has an ideal riad for a group or family. You've got all the privacy you need. Our first meeting with Fatima was great because of a good breakfast. Fatima's cooking is great. We ate everyday at home because of the cooking of Fatima. The best place for dinner is the nice roofterrace.
Don't look further. This riad is a good choice.

Originally form Burgundy in France, I'm a professional in software consulting and I happen to be travelling extensively for work that is why my house is often available for you to enjoy !
After a nearly 4 years professional cycle in Morocco, during which I lived in the house, I"m now starting a new chapter in Dublin, Ireland ... not without a hint of sadness as I did enjoy tremendously my time in the Red city.
The bewithing Oriental charm sweeped my feet away. You go from incredibly high standard establishments for a cup of local thé or ancient scotch around the luxurious swimmingpools ... to the counter of a local medina grocery with hanging chickens and wheeled homemade trolleys pulled by donkeys in the matter of a few minutes, the city has a lot to offer, to all tastes and contrasts ! Marrakech is incredibly intoxicating and so peaceful at the same time when you come home to the calmness of the Medina ...
I hope you'll enjoy your stay as much as I enjoyed mine, welcome to my home :)
