We're very happy to help you plan your trip and make the most of all the Languedoc has to offer.
Read some reviews of the chambre d'hôte and particularly of Anne's wonderful cooking on TripAdvisor (make sure you're looking at the Domaine Saint Hilaire in Montagnac as there are a couple elsewhere).
You'll need to have or rent a car during your stay as we are tucked away from the main road and although there are buses and some taxi services, it's certainly more convenient to drive yourself.
Let us know when you're booking if you're driving all the way home and we'll have a special treat waiting for you when you arrive!
The Domaine is surrounded by 60 hectares of its own vineyards, fields of clover and wheat. There's are lots of lovely walks to do, around the old Roman road, the Via Domitia, and you can even borrow our bikes and set off for the day into one of the nearby towns and villages.
If you just want to relax at the domaine during the day, there's plenty to do without even leaving the grounds. You can relax by the beautiful infinity pool, which looks on to the ancient park full of towering trees and umbrella pines that are almost 200 years old. Or perhaps you'd like some afternoon tea in the rose garden? As a guest, you'll have access to the library which is full of English and French novels, as well as our extensive DVD collection if you fancy a quiet night in. All rooms come with TV and free to view channels and there is a free wifi zone. We can give you a cable for internet in your room, but if you'd prefer your partner's undivided attention, your room can remain conveniently internet free!
If you're feeling more active, you can test your skills on the table tennis table, or take a look around the latest exhibition at the new art gallery.
Wine is really the heart of the Domaine, so it's almost obligatory for guests to have a full wine tasting one evening with one of the family, who will introduce you to the 8 different grapes that we grow and help you find a wine to suit your tastes. We've won 48 awards for our wines over the past ten years that we've been here, so there's no better place to get to know top quality Southern French wines in luxurious surroundings.
On the ground floor, each side of the main guest entrance and staircase, are the two reception rooms reserved for the use of guests.
The Breakfast Room is where the breakfast buffet is set out and is otherwise available during the day for consulting local guides and maps and planning outings in the region. It can also be available for special events in the evenings.
The Living Room has a welcoming open vine log fire in winter months and is where tea is served at five o'clock (if inside) and where guests are offered a glass of Domaine wine as an aperitif at seven o'clock.
We are a family run vineyard and b&b so we love to meet interesting guests and travellers who respect the quality that we aim to provide. If we are out of your price range, there are opportunities to come picking for the harvest during September, so get in touch if you'd like to do that. Fire is our biggest concern, so please let us know if you are a smoker and we will discuss the rules about that before you book. We do accept bookings from families, but usually only if they are the first to book on a certain date - as we like to warn any guests who are coming for peace and quiet that there may be young children here before they book. Any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch & we'll do everything we can to make sure you have the perfect break and make the most of all the Languedoc has to offer!
