There is no specific rule in the house except to enjoy your stay in compliance with the equipment at your disposal. However, in order to avoid conflicts with the neighborhood, we request that you have a respectful attitude towards people living around, especially in regards of the Moroccan law that forbid local people to be invited in houses owned by foreigners
We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our first experience of Marrakech or Airbnb style accommodation, and felt completely at home chez JP. From the initial point of contact, JP was responsive and helpful. Our reception on arrival by Philippe, the resourceful manager, and Ibrahim, the joyous driver, was smooth and refreshing after a long 24 hour journey from Thailand via Dubai and Rome.
Beyond the beauty of the home, which exceeds the photos, the intangible ambiance of Riad 62 is immediately calming and tranquil. The riad is very spacious and well-equipped, with numerous comfortable lounge areas, and a great sense of space. Fatima, the housekeeper is a great asset, and a charming and considerate hostess. Despite the restriction of our mutual limited capacity for French, we very much enjoyed her company and generous spirit. While we didn't get around to sampling Fatima's cooking, (beyond breakfast, and largely due to our restricted diet), which no doubt is fantastic, we very much enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, and the local produce is fabulous. The local market a few steps away is wonderfully authentic, and very convenient.
The riad remains cool and shady even on very hot (website hidden) has recently upgraded the bathrooms with new showers that are powerful and pleasurable. We loved spending time at the riad so much that we often lingered, as much as we were drawn to the allure of the medina. The location is excellent, and within walking distance of all the medina's attractions. Gueliz is also within walking distance for supermarket shopping, restaurants, and a different vibe.
We normally like to splurge on luxury accommodation when we travel, and what Riad 62 lacks in absolute luxury and finesse, it more than makes up for with charm, space, homeliness, and character. We would happily stay at Riad 62 again, and hope to return in the future. In fact, we love Marrakech so much that we extended our stay by another week, and would have happily remained at Riad 62 had it not been already booked.
Many thanks once again JP, Fatima, and Philippe, for your wonderful hospitality!
Daniel and Oreol, 19-27 May 2015.
JP’s house is a great place to stay in Marrakech. I can highly recommend the place.
The house is very spacious and a relaxing place to stay in. The location of the house is great; near the Bab Doukkala Mosque, between the main square and Gueliz. We loved the local atmosphere.
Communications with JP was easy and JP was nice to give us a late checkout at the time of our booking (as our plane would leave in the late afternoon). He also arranged an airport pickup when we arrived: his friend Philippe was waiting for us with a driver. Philippe is a nice guy and every now and then came to see if we were happy. He also arranged a return transfer to the airport.
One extra great thing about the house is Fatima. She is wonderful. Fatima makes breakfast each morning and upon request can provide dinner. Fatima’s dinner is great. We stayed for a week and each night Fatima cooked the four of us an abundant meal. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks Jean Philippe, Philippe and Fatima for your great hospitality!
We had a fantastic time in Marrakech. I would highly recommend Jean Philippe's house to anyone who wishes to stay in Marrakech. It is just as it appears in the pictures and very spacious.
The roof terrace was especially nice for sitting out in the sun. The rooms are beautifully designed and the house is very clean.
Philippe met us at the airport and was extremely kind and friendly despite the language barrier.
I can't praise the housekeeper Fatima enough, she was fantastic. She made us breakfast each morning and kept the house in immaculate condition.
Jean Philippe was also excellent for communication as we missed our first flight and he arranged for Philippe to collect us at a different time without any complaint.
We would definitely stay here again.
Thanks Jean Philippe, Philippe and Fatima!
Alles verlief dort angenehm.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jean Philippe's riad which is situated about 15min walk to the central square or Magorelle gardens. The accommodation is spacious, clean and authentic Moroccan within the Medina, so accessible from a typical narrow alleyway. Fatima came each morning to make us breakfast and will also cook traditional dinner which we did one night, which we consumed over two nights as it was so large. We were greeted at the airport which was really helpful. For those looking for their own riad in central marrakech then I don't see how you can do better than this. We took a 3 yr old and overall the accommodation is very safe, only the steps to the roof terrace are without protection, but we went in January so it wasn't really the weather for roof terraces.

About the Host, Jean Philippe
Originally form Burgundy in France, I'm a professional in software consulting and I happen to be travelling extensively for work that is why my house is often available for you to enjoy !
After a nearly 4 years professional cycle in Morocco, during which I lived in the house, I"m now starting a new chapter in Dublin, Ireland ... not without a hint of sadness as I did enjoy tremendously my time in the Red city.
The bewithing Oriental charm sweeped my feet away. You go from incredibly high standard establishments for a cup of local thé or ancient scotch around the luxurious swimmingpools ... to the counter of a local medina grocery with hanging chickens and wheeled homemade trolleys pulled by donkeys in the matter of a few minutes, the city has a lot to offer, to all tastes and contrasts ! Marrakech is incredibly intoxicating and so peaceful at the same time when you come home to the calmness of the Medina ...
I hope you'll enjoy your stay as much as I enjoyed mine, welcome to my home :)
