The space
Stylishly renovated by a UNC School of the Arts professor, this beautiful, private West Salem Craftsman style bungalow includes two bedrooms, one bathroom with spa bath and rainfall shower, and additional half bath leading off the master suite. The living room furniture includes a sectional sofa bed which converts into a queen and comfortably accommodates an additional two guests. Attractive 9 foot ceilings, a gorgeous front porch, huge back deck and securely fenced backyard, perfect for those planning to bring their furry best friend along on vacation (rail fencing is wired to restrain even the smallest dog, please be aware that there are multiple, lit steps down from deck to yard). With rooms for four, and up to six, guests, this charming house is a terrific lodging choice for business people, couples, friends, parents visiting students at one of the nearby schools or small families. The home is tastefully decorated with stunning, unusual contemporary light fittings, new windows, custom blinds, refinished wood floors, together with stainless steel appliances and birch cabinets in the well appointed kitchen. Look forward to unwinding outside on the home's lovely front porch swing, where you can enjoy the cool evening breeze. In summer lots of flowering Crape Myrtle trees line the attractive street. A Graco Pack and Play crib, crib mattress, and highchair are available on request.
I'm happy to be able to share my house with AirBnB guests who like to travel with up to two small dogs. $50 + tax per stay. Please ask when making a reservation (see "Other Things to Note" below).

Guest access
This rental is totally private and can be accessed via a lockbox on the front door which will hold two front door keys. The code will be provided in ample time before the guests' stay. Parking is on the right of the property as you face the house. Access to the rear deck and securely fenced backyard is via a door leading from the kitchen or they can be accessed via a gate in the fence. Walk to Granville Park, Washington Park, the YWCA, Old Salem with its shops and restaurants, and the Strollway. Short drive to downtown and grocery stores (Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Publix, and Trader Joes). See the extensive guidebook at the house.

Other things to note
Guests can park two cars off-street, one behind the other, on the right of the property as you face it. Parking on the street is only available on the opposite side of the road to the property where there are no parking restrictions. The yard is regularly mowed and tidied, which may occur during your stay, but will not require any interaction with the guest. I have another lovely house in West Salem (2 bed/2 bath) "Adorable, Stylish near UNCSA and Downtown", which is 5 minutes easy walk from this house. Booking both properties would be ideal for a larger group.
Up to two small dogs (up to 20lbs), over 9 months, well behaved, non-shedding, welcome! The rear yard is secure for even tiny dogs, and pet dishes and poop bags are provided. $30 + tax per stay for one dog, $50 + tax per stay for two. See "House Rules/Additional Rules" for detailed dog and people policies. Sorry, no cats.

Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States

The historic residential West Salem neighborhood of Winston-Salem is 1.5 miles south of downtown. It is immediately adjacent to Old Salem, very close to two parks, one of which offers free tennis courts, the other an enclosed dog park. In the summer the neighborhood is full of blossoming crape myrtle trees. UNC School of the Arts is within one mile of my home.

Originally from the UK, lovely Winston-Salem is now my home. I continually enjoy exploring this cool city from the history in Old Salem (which reminds me of an English country village) to the arts - great theaters, galleries, UNCSA and Reynolda House, and wonderful restaurants, bakeries and breweries catering for all tastes. I have two small rescue dogs and walking them gives me time to admire the beautiful trees, flowers and countryside. In addition, I enjoy trips to wineries, state parks, and mountains all within a couple of hours. I have one son who graduated from NC State in Raleigh, am an avid walker, reader, movie goer, and relish good food! I had a lot of fun completely remodeling and decorating my houses, and thoroughly enjoy being an Airbnb host. I have travelled quite widely to a lot of North America, Europe, Africa and Japan and would love to do more when time allows. I am a “hands off” host which may mean that you won’t meet me, but you will feel the warmth of my welcome as soon as you enter any of my homes. Plus I live very close by and can easily be reached by text or phone.
