Spacious 2BR/3BA townhome downtown

House - Entire home/apt · South Ventura Street, Ojai, CA 93023, United States

Our spacious home is nestled on a quiet street right in the heart of downtown. Walk to shops, spas and the renowned Ojai farmers market. Enjoy a glass of wine on the private patio listening to nearby outdoor concerts.

The Space

Spanish Colonial cottage in the heart of downtown Ojai. Walk to shopping, concerts, spas and the famous Ojai farmers market. Within three blocks you'll find Ojai's landmark, the beautiful clock tower whose chime marks the rhythm of this quaint village of shops, the scent of orange blossoms and world-class concerts and sports. In that same three block radius lies the county library, groceries, the bike trail that can take you all the way to the Ventura beaches, Libbey Park with it's famous Libbey Bowl, home of outdoor summer concerts and the renown Ojai Music Festival and "The Ojai" - the oldest running tennis tournament in the country.

As longtime residents of Ojai, we keep our home clean and simply furnished. You'll find all the things you need for everyday life -- a well stocked kitchen, toys for the kids, baby supplies and comfortable beds. Enjoy the luxurious hardwood floors and area rugs throughout and solid wood mission style furniture. Year-round Christmas lights add a little whimsy. Broadband internet, wifi, a Netfix account with unlimited shows and movies and a desktop computer will keep you connected. Three bathrooms guarantee you'll never wait in line. The king size bed made from all natural materials is truly fit for royalty. We love dining on the patio while listening to the Libbey Bowl concerts barely a stone's throw away. Best seat in the house.

But don't stay indoors for long. Enjoy strolling the Arcade boutiques, hiking the quiet trails listening to birds under the smell of wild sage, taking a horseback ride or visiting serene spiritual sites like Meditation Mount and Kratona. Enjoy soothing hot tubs, classes in Pilates and yoga and crystal clear swimming pools at the Ojai Athletic Club under the watchful gaze of the Topa Topa bluffs.

Okay, this description sounds a bit over the top. But mark my words, there's a reason why Ojai has the nickname "Shangri-La" and was the chosen site to set the film of the same name. Come and find out for yourself. And welcome to our home.

The Neighborhood

Downtown Ojai is a paradise. Shopping, nightlife, street fairs, art galleries, scrumptious food. And we're right by Libbey Park, home of fabulous outdoor concerts sheltered by oak trees. Some nights you'll hear music and smell orange blossoms. Others you'll hear coyotes and owls.

Getting around

You can walk to nearly everything in town. For larger excursions, ride the Ojai trolley. Plenty of room for a couple cars, too.

  • This was our 1st experience with airbnb. It was great.
Aldens home was exceptionally clean and comfortable.
Perfect location as well. I would also like to thank Alden
for checking on us during our stay, even though he was in
    Europe at the time. Excellent.

  • Great Experience ! This is a great place to stay; peaceful and comfortable, close to town at a good price. Alden is a great host, conscientious, responsive and took of everything we needed. My family and i was here for 6 weeks and we really enjoyed being close to town. We live in Ojai so this was a temporary place for us, if you really want to enjoy the ojai valley and be in town, this is a great place. Blessings.

  • Alden was very helpful and the house is in a perfect spot near the center of Ojai. Well prepared house, bright and welcoming. The back porch is a good place for a suntan too.

  • I rented this lovely town home with 4 others as we were attending a training in Ojai. The location was only about 5 min walking distance from our training which was so very convienent. The town house is centrally located and easy to walk anywhere in town. I appreciated the cleanliness and uncluttered feeling of the house, and Alden was a gracious host who communicated clearly and promptly. All in all this was a great experience for a great price!

  • Gorgeous house. I never met Aiden, but he texted to make sure we were doing well and knew about the good local restaurants. Also, the king bed in the main bedroom is pretty awesome. Definitely recommend!

    Response from Alden:

Thanks Emma! Yeah, that bed is right out of "princess and the pea." Come back soon!

  • The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Great location! Very easy to walk to everything you might need. The townhouse is spacious and comfortable. Alden is a friendly and responsive host. I would recommend to others.

    Response from Alden:

When we are in Ojai, we try to get everywhere on foot. It's a welcome relief from driving everywhere, and being right downtown makes it possible. Hope to see you again, Jen!

  • This place was perfect for our short stay in Ojai. Cozy and comfy, with all the bare necessities, and very centrally located. There was even a festival nearby playing music that added a kind of soundtrack to our visit there. (If you're the kind of person who can't handle loud music, you might want to make sure nothing's happening during your visit. But for us it was great.) If you stay at Alden's make sure you take advantage of The Book!

    Response from Alden:

Hehe, yeah, we're very close to the Libbey Bowl concerts downtown. We like to sit out on the patio listening to that soundtrack with a glass of wine. But point well taken. Shows are on weekends with a variety of musical styles. Think of it this way -- if it's a concert you like, you just got free tickets. If not, keep the windows closed :-) Hope to see you again Brandi, it was great having you.

  • I feel like I got lucky by finding Alden's house in Ojai. It's not only in the perfect location in the center of town to where you get to avoid all traffic, but also, the house is an amazing two story house. Had everything that we needed and some. Thanks Alden! :-)

    June 2013
    Response from Alden:

Thanks Matt, it was great to host you. And we loved the movie you took of the Ojai Farmer's Market. Made us totally miss being there!

Hi! I live mostly in Seattle with my wife Susan and two adorable kids. We like traveling, hiking in the mountains around Seattle, going to outdoor concerts and most of all food. Known for facing driving rain, horrendous traffic and the real possibility that the restaurant will be boarded up and abandoned on arrival just to savor the best Ethiopian food within 15 miles, we are mocked by many and appreciated by few. I learned to speak Spanish to order food (y lo hablo bastante bien), learned to cook to eat it, and learned to speak and write so I could talk about it. Have you eaten somewhere I haven't? We must right this wrong. Ping me and tell me where and when. I'll meet you there.
