Interaction with Guests
We interact as much as you want. We've had guests who just wanted to be on their own and experience the city and guests who we've gone out with and shows the "secret neighborhood spots" too. We are happy to help make your stay in New Orleans the best it can be. We are very knowledgable an tourist spots, non-tourist spots, fun activities, food and bars and anything else you are interested in doing while you are in town.
It's a real neighborhood with neighbors you wave to or stop and chat with. The homes are beautiful and the whole area has been rebuilt better than it was before Katrina. There are over 20 great restaurants all within a mile of our home, including tons of great bars and shopping. Magazine street is wonderful.
There is a bus stop 1 block from our home. The St Charles streetcar line is about a 15 minute walk up Jackson. There are cabs as well, and we've been known to do a bit of carpooling with our guests on more than one occasion.
Other Things to Note
The French Quarter is about 2 miles away form our place. During Mardis Gras we are 5 to 10 blocks from most of the parade routes and Saint Patrick's Day in the Irish Channel is one of our best kept secrets, block parties you will never forget.
There is a Waldorf School for kids next door to the home. They feature an open curriculum so the children plant gardens, grow trees, vegetables, and flowers year round. Sometimes they play early in the morning so if the sound of kids playing and running around puts you off it is something to consider when booking.
Have fun, if you cook use all the seasonings under the kitchen counter, let New Orleans welcome you like it's welcomed us. No Smoking inside, Smoking on the porch outside is acceptable, Please use the ashtray.
We provide all the basics you need for the BBQ. Charcoal, a chimney starter, propane, the grill does both. We just ask that if you use the BBQ on the deck please be sure to clean it before you leave. The basic rule of the house is to try to leave the place as you found it.
Please wash and rinse any dishes or glasses you use. You don't have to put everything away as long as you leave them on the dish rack.
Please throw any used towels or washcloths in the shower.
Please toss any trash and any full garbage bags into one of the big garbage cans out front.
Though we have our checkin time set at 3PM and checkout time at 11AM, if there are no outgoing or incoming guests we can be flexible with those times. Just ask.
If you arrive early or have a late departure, guests are welcome to leave their luggage with us next door.
Please, no eating or drinking in the beds. Any loss or damage to the linens or other items in the house will be deducted from your deposit.
We loved the house and loved our stay in New Orleans! The house is located uptown and just a short walk to some great food and bars and Magazine St. 10 minute cab ride to the French Quarter.
Scott, Leah and their house were super accommodating! Scott told us all the cool bars to go to and the cool bands that were playing up the street. (Parasol's is a must for food and boozy frozen coffee slushies.) The house was well stocked with extra shampoo and things, which I loved.
I will return to NOLA again and when I do, I hope Scott and Leah's house is available!
Leah & Scott are wonderful hosts. They were out of town the weekend we stayed, but were gracious and quick to answer any questions we had. This is a lovely, welcoming home located in a quiet mixed-industrial landscape. Leah & Scott have obviously put quite a bit of thought into decorating and outfitting the house to suit traveler's needs. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this listing to anyone.
We had an amazing time in New Orleans and we have to thank Scott for all is help making our stay so much fun. All his suggestions for food, drinks and shows where excellents. The apartment is excatly like the picture they have on their page. It's situation close to Magazine street make it easy to take public transportation to everywhere in town and his a cheap cab ride from the French Quarter coming back late at night. We recommend this place and would go back anytime. Thank you again!
We felt welcome for sure. Any advise on eating or other info was give to use in a matter of minutes. We never really had many question as well. We already had most things planned. The info on some food that was nearby was really it.
This house is very accurately described in their posting. Scott is a legend and is exactly what you want out of an Air BNB host. He knows all the local spots, makes great suggestions, and knows the neighborhood like the back of his hand. He is very quick at answering phone calls and text messages which was clutch.
Area is very safe
Its a 10 min walk to take the cable car downtown or call a cab and its a 10 minute ride to downtown.
Would stay again.
Scott and Leah were awesome! Scott was super helpful and was quick to offer suggestions when we arrived early and hungry (parasol's is a must). The apartment is perfect for small groups and is so wonderfully located near some great restaurants and bar and a quick bus ride away from the french quarter. We went out to a few bars at night and took a cab back, which was also affordable split a couple ways. If I could change anything, we would've tried out their awesome backyard or borrowed their bikes! I'd definitely recommend Scott and Leah's place to anyone visiting New Orleans!
