Great location
93% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
A cute and cosy modernised cottage surrounded by fields and with a beautiful river at the bottom of the garden. The house is well situated and has a spacious lawn and enclosed garden with access to walks up the river and other beautiful local areas. A good base to strike out for West Coast and Highlands.

The space
Spacious modern kitchen with range cooker. A cosy living room with a wood burning stove. Two bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other a double bedroom with en-suite shower room with a power shower. A bathroom with a large bath. A utility room with washing machine and plenty of space for boots and coats to dry off after outdoor adventures.

Guest access
Indoors: All of the property apart from the attic space.
Outdoors: There is easy access to the river if you go through the back gate and then the large gate on left. You can walk up the river for a few hundred yards. Keep all gates closed behind you. *There is no managed path and it is often overgrown in summer.

Other things to note
We try to be environmentally friendly and conscious of our impact on the planet wherever possible and we hope you can support us in this during your stay by;
- using the recycling facilities in the utility room (please rinse out plastics, glass and metal)
- composting raw food (empty the compost bin into the black bin in front of the gas tank)
- using Eco products for washing and cleaning
- conserving energy wherever possible (please turn lights off behind you)

Location

Evanton, United Kingdom

Evanton is a large village in Easter Ross in the Highlands of Scotland with Ben Wyvis rising to the west and the Cromarty Firth to the south, Evanton is situated 7 miles north of Dingwall and 15 miles north of Inverness.
It is a perfect base to strike out from to explore the West Coast, the North and the Highlands.
Evanton dates from the early 19th century during the Highland Clearances when the local laird Evan Fraser of Baconie cleared his estate for sheep and planned this township near the newly built road between the River Glass (or Allt Graad) and the River Sgitheach. Evanton is a popular tourist resort and an ideal base to tour the Highlands. The village has hotels and a caravan and campsite, shop, post-office, tea-room, village hall, two churches and a few businesses. The nearest railway station is at Alness. Attractions include the Black Rock Gorge, used in the Harry Potter film The Goblet of Fire, it is a two mile long ravine more than 100ft deep surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife.
Nearby is the Fyrish Monument erected on Fyrish Hill by Sir Hector Munro in the late 18th century, thought to represent the gates of Negapatnam in south India.
The Highland Museum of Childhood is in neighbouring Strathpeffer, Dingwall has a Heritage Museum, Dalmore Distillery and two RSPB nature reserves are located near the Cromarty Firth.

Hello! I am Highland born and raised in both Findhorn and later in Stockholm, Sweden. My husband Tim and I are currently working hard to bring our smallholding up to scratch. Find out more at Katewell Habitats. We have a son who keeps us busy and entertained. We also have a newfoundland dog, a cat, some sheep and chickens. They certainly keep us on our toes. We like walking along our river and through our newly planted native woodland, growing fruit and veg, cooking tasty food, playing capoeira, seeing friends and generally enjoying life in all its shapes and forms.
