Escape the stress of modern living and retreat to the lush sub-tropical rainforests of Arakoon. Imagine waking up to the sound of Kookaburras welcoming the new day while you savour your breakfast.
What you do with your day is up to you. You could take a walk along the beautiful Trial Bay or perhaps explore the relics of the Trial Bay Gaol built over 100 years ago. Maybe you will venture up to the top of our famous light house to take in the 360 degree views, or you could always just kick back and some enjoy beach, estuary, or offshore boat fishing. Experience surfing along the kilometres of pure sand that make our beaches amongst the best on the East Coast of Australia.
There are 4 bedrooms available to you. The first room is the blue room (ocean room) and has a queen bed, television etc. the second room is the African room and also has a queen bed in it and television set. The third bedroom has a double bed and television. These share a large bathroom across the hall. There is also an ensuite room off the common room which has a king bed and this bed can be separated into 2 king singles should this be required. This room is slightly dearer at $95.00 per night with it's private bathroom. A bbq is outside for your use or the typical ozzie bbq. We look forward to you coming and sharing our part of South West Rocks and experience the beautiful area we have to offer.
Our place is unique in that it is so peaceful a surrounding with the birdlife to relax too.
Smoking outside please.
The stay at Hoy and Damien's place was wonderful. We were greeted warmly and shown our room and the comfortable common room. Joy offered us some fresh home baked banana bread which was a big hit with our little daughter. After we went out for dinner we settled down in front of the TV and enjoyed the very good DVD selection. Breakfast was yummy and again we were offered some freshly baked bread. The property is very peaceful and lush. We definitely will come back. A true gem in South West Rocks.
A BIG thanks to Joy and her husband Damian (and her dog Barnie, my new love!) for this wonderful stay.
We booked the en suite, which was very clean, spacious and tidy. Also the common room was well equipped with plenty of everything.
We had a lot of space, the place is really quiet. Joy baked some muffins and gave us her wonderful tasty rhubarb to try. There were more things to eat and drink than we actually needed (e.g., bread, milk, butter, honey, muesli, coffee…).
The hosts are really lovely, friendly and helpful, they gave us good hiking tips and also let us sleep in on Sunday. Again, big thanks to you Joy and Damian.
We highly recommend this accommodation to everyone.
This was a beautiful place to stay, with a huge room and everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Joy was really helpful in giving me tips for my onward journey.
The house is set in the bush and is so peaceful but only a 5 minute drive to some fantastic beaches and bush walks. I only stayed for one night but would definitely stay there again on my way up the coast.
A place to re-energise, the bush retreat was a great escape from my busy life. Joy and Damien are really easy going and friendly. I highly recommend the fish that they can prepare, it was a really warm welcome after driving my long way there.
10/10 - South West Rocks is a beautiful place, the venue is superb and Joy is a fantastic host. Awesome breakfast provided. Hope to visit again soon
We had a wonderful stay here, the rooms are lovely and comfortable and clean, the hosts couldn't be nicer or more helpful and it is set in such a beautiful peaceful place.
And if you're really lucky you might get to have some of Joy's amazing homemade sourdough for breakfast!
Very highly recommended.
I had a fantastic stay at Joy and Damien's b&b. They made me feel very welcome and immediately at home in their tastefully landscaped property and pleasant and impeccably clean house!
I particularly appreciate Damien's generous offer to take me on a tour of South West Rock's natural attractions and points of interest, and his expert knowledge of the region and of Australian history; I learned a lot.
I also enjoyed Joy's simple but excellent dinner and the rich breakfast she prepared.
As a city dweller, I enjoyed the quietude of the place.
But most of all I am immensely grateful for Joy and Damien's hospitality and generosity: it made me feel like a friend rather than a guest.
Thank you very much, Joy and Damien: I will be back one day - and this time with more time to enjoy the property and South West Rocks.

Easy to get along with Damien and Joy enjoy people's company. We love the peace and quiet of our surroundings together with the beach lifestyle. Damien has been a professional fisherman/lobster/abalone diver down south and loves to take people to experience the outdoors of catching beach worms, yabbies and even throw a line in and catch fish.Joy loves floristry for relaxation and pottering in the gardens. You can enjoy being by yourselves or experience our world. Our motto is enter as strangers, leave as friends.
