L'Ancienne Vigneronne is a 200 year old former wine growers house which has been fully renovated. It is situated in the Minervois region of the Languedoc, a beautiful rural setting.
The house sleeps up to 10, is open all year, has no minimum stay and offers a swimming pool in a secluded courtyard. There is a lounge with TV, WIFI available (free), central heating and wood burning fire in winter.
The four spacious bedrooms consist of two family rooms (double & single beds and 3 single beds) and 2 double rooms (double beds) and vary in size from 15-24 sq meters. All have their their own bathrooms of 6 sq meters.
From January 2015 our basic rate for 2 people sharing is 70 Euros per night. Add 10 Euros for a third person or deduct 10 Euros if single.
Breakfast is included in the tariff. There are no cooking facilities available but complimentary tea/coffee is available on request. There are good restaurants within 15 minutes drive, or alternatively eat with us. We cook evening meals to order catering for all tastes with freshly bought produce, local wine and coffee included.
A typical menu is 3 courses with wine and coffee included is 21 Euro. A lighter 'menu terroir' with cold meats, cheese and seasonal fruit can also be provided.
Mailhac has a bar, village shop, post office, school, swimming pool and a number of wine producers where wine can be tasted. The countryside is quiet, but we are not too far from historic cities, beaches, mountains and rivers.
The region is great for walking, bird watching, cycling (really nice road and off-road bikes can be hired locally), fishing, paragliding, golf and more! We keep a selection of tourist guides, maps and information about the region and enjoy sharing our local knowledge.
The Canal du Midi passes through the region and guided boat trips are an option. There is safe bathing and a cafe just 15 minutes drive to the Lac du Jouarre near Olonzac, and the Mediteranean is 45 minutes drive to Gruissan.
Tuesdays mornings in Olonzac is a must if you want to experience a typical French market, as well as an opportunity sit, drink a beer or coffee and watch the world go by.
The nearest city of Narbonne (30 minutes drive) has a pleasant Mediteranean feel when strolling about its quiet streets. The Canal de Robine flows quietly through the city centre, there is Roman archeology available to investigate and it offers a wider range of shops than you can find in small villages and towns.
The fortress city at Carcassonne is a World Heritage site and was used by Walt Disney as the model for his castle. Each July there's a large arts festival with top names appearing, and not forgetting a huge (free) firework display on July 14th ... Bastille Day.
Further afield are Montpellier and Perpignan (each about an hours drive) both pleasant cities to visit, the Pyrenees can be reached in 2 hours whilst into Spain it's a 2 hour drive to Gerona and 3 to Barcelona.

Very few. There are one or two things you need to be aware of, otherwise come and go as you please. You're in holiday! Each bedroom has a short guide covering such things as keys, safety, breakfast times, use of the pool.
Really lovely B&B in a sleepy village. Great spot to explore some big towns such as Carcassonne, Beziers or Narbonne (which we weren't up for), or some other pretty little villages such as Minerve or Olonzac (which we preferred), even though, the highlight for us was the experience of cruising on the Cnal du Midi, which we did from picturesque Le Sommeil.
Caroline and Trevor are fantastic hosts and their immaculate house feels cottagy and cozy. The patio/garden for meals and the pool for refreshing dips at the end of a tiring day are delightful.
The only thing that didn't make the stay 100% perfect, but would be very easy to solve, was the fact that the dinner they prepared, while very good, wasn't exactly five-year-old friendly.
Good experience with Caroline and Trevor's B&B where we stand for one night during our trip on the Canal du Midi with our bycicle. Caroline cooks delicious dinner, and sharing it was very nice to practice our english. The room was perfect, as well as the bathroom, the village is very quiet. We enjoy our stay here. Perfect place for a good rest!
Our stay at Caroline's was very pleasant. We had a warm welcome when we arrived with tea and coffee in late afternoon. Their guidance on places to see around and restaurants were very good. My wife and I trully enjoyed our night in this fabolous house located in a nice village. We highly recommend this B&B.
We had a lovely weekend in the Narbonne area and a night with Caroline and Trevor was most enjoyable. They were welcoming and very helpful when we asked for directions. We all felt at home and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the garden. The children loved the pool especially the jacuzzi bubbles! The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. Thank you.
This is a fabulous bnb. Impeccably clean and neat, with modern and comfortable facilities in sympathy with the original building and village. A great base for touring the region. The garden is beautiful, perfect to enjoy the fine breakfast supplied by Caroline.
Caroline and Trevor are welcoming and helpful, and organised a restaurant for us at late notice, and advise on our onward journey.
We travelled down on the (website hidden) and were cycling around the Languedoc area. Caroline and Trevor's local knowledge was useful with route planning. We were well provided for, enjoyed the pool and had a good night's sleep. Thank you.
