Our traditional home in central York is over 120 years old. It is easy going, relaxed and friendly. We are lucky to live in York’s most fashionable area with a great range of local cafes, shops, restaurants and traditional pubs. Truly unique for this city and as travellers ourselves we know these small things really count.
Check out our great reviews for amazing local breakfast and late night food options right on your doorstep. Please note: We don't currently provide breakfast.
There's a well stocked store open until midnight seven days a week and we particularly recommend the local fish and chips. Life just couldn't be easier!
Only a few minutes’ walk of the medieval centre, old city walls and the rail and bus stations the location is superb. No waiting for taxis, buses or long walks back after a long day seeing the sights. As lifelong 'Yorkies' we have endless personal recommendations, maps and guidebooks waiting for you.
If you love to cycle, we are on the local and national cycle networks with very easy access to all York attractions, universities and colleges. Bicycles can be hired locally and secure safe parking is provided.
There is a bus stop outside our house for those exploring further afield. The York Tour bus passes by and you can hop on and off as you please. Be sure to wave!
Across the road is a riverside park with a fabulous reading café and the renowned York racecourse with amazing Saturday morning flea market is nearby (people come from all over Europe for this).
On departure, don't be carrying bags around. Pick them up later en-route to the nearby rail and bus stations.
We are open to ideas so get in touch and we will seek to accommodate. We have hosted lots of world travellers, students, academics, workers, couples, single travellers, honeymooners and cyclists in recent months and received 100 per cent amazing reviews.

Great location and warm welcome from Julia and family who live in a beautiful house. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again
Julia was an excellent host. She made us feel welcome and took care of all of our needs. We loved her Room at the top. It was very close to all the sights we wanted to visit.
Julia and Paul were great hosts and made me feel incredibly welcome in their home. They had great suggestions on the local tourist sites and places to go and eat. There was also a fun night discussing music to all hours after spending the day wandering around town.
The room was as described and in excellent condition with a super comfortable bed. The house was well located and only a short walk to the train station or into the main hub of York.
Would gladly stay there again if I'm ever in town.
Great place to stay. Communication before arrival was excellent then Julia and Paul were great hosts. We used the parking permit they offer to park our car close to the house. The room was a good size and very clean and comfy. The bathroom was clean and nice also.
Warm welcome by Paul, with info about the local area. Comfortable room and bed in a lovely house. Ideal location for exploring York and lots of eating options within a few yards. Definitely recommend and would love to return one day. Thanks Julia & Paul
Julia and Paul are very kind and friendly.
If we have next opportunity to go York , we would love to stay their lovely house again.
Julia made us feel welcome. The house is within easy access to the town. Room clean and comfortable and as indicated was on the third floor. Private bathroom was on the lower floor.
About the Host, Julia
We love living in York and make good use of its many cultural attractions. We are into music, politics and current affairs and I am a trustee of a local community space. I grew up by the sea and return as often as I can. We travel regularly and prefer the 'make it up as you go along' approach. If money was no object we would live in Venice.
