Our traditional town house in central York is over 120 years old. It is easy going, relaxed and friendly. We are lucky to live in York’s most fashionable area with a great range of local cafes, shops, restaurants and traditional pubs. Truly unique for this city and as travellers ourselves we know these small things really count.
Check out our great reviews for amazing breakfast and late night food options right on your doorstep.
There's a well stocked store open until midnight seven days a week and we particularly recommend the local fish and chips. Life just couldn't be easier!
Only a few minutes’ walk of the medieval centre, old city walls and the rail and bus stations the location is superb. No waiting for taxis, buses or long walks back after a long day seeing the sights. As lifelong 'Yorkies' we have endless personal recommendations, maps and guidebooks waiting for you.
If you love to cycle, we are on the local and national cycle networks with very easy access to all York attractions, universities and colleges. Bicycles can be hired locally and secure safe parking is provided.
There is a bus stop outside our house for those exploring further afield. The York Tour bus passes by and you can hop on and off as you please. Be sure to wave!
Across the road is a riverside park with a fabulous reading café and the renowned York racecourse with amazing Saturday morning flea market is nearby (people come from all over Europe for this).
On departure, don't be carrying bags around. Pick them up later en-route to the nearby rail and bus stations.
We are open to ideas so get in touch and we will seek to accommodate. We have hosted lots of world travellers, students, academics, workers, couples, single travellers, honeymooners and cyclists in recent months and received 100 per cent amazing reviews.

Other Things to Note
The neighbourhood is lovely with lots to offer visitors including local park, river walk and 2 minutes from city walls
Our house is a family home. There's a quiet drawing room for reading, internet etc.
Julia and Paul are very friendly and welcoming hosts. Their house is beautiful and comfortable and I instantly felt at home. The bedroom is cozy and spacious and it was such a luxury having a large bath all to yourself! Great neighborhood, also, with lots of shops and restaurants, and a small supermarket close by. The kids are cute and friendly and noise was never an issue. Paul and Julia were also very helpful when I had an emergency need to print out a document. A great place to stay.
By the way, if you are in the minster area a fun way to return to the house is by walking the city walls. You can start the walk just across the river from Museum Park and it will take you all the way to Bishopthorpe Road.
It was our first time we did Airbnb and we loved the house we stayed in !
It was a nice beautiful place, warm and
cosy and very clean !
we loved it all the way !
Julia and Paul were very kind and we enjoyed meeting them, had a nice talk !
I would certainly recommend this place to other people !
Thanks a lot Julia and Paul ! :-)
Julia's house is spotless, located in the best neighbourhood of central York (that we saw). Convenient to reach the center after a short walk but also with non-touristy local life around. Julia, her husband and kids made us feel welcome and it will be sure that we will return. Thanks,
This is a wonderful place to stay. You have a bedroom, a luxury bathroom and a beautiful sitting room, all spotlessly clean. The location couldn't be better. Walking distance from the train station and the center of town. Julia is there for you, but you have your privacy as well. I would give the Room at the Top ten stars if I could.
My friend Vic and I spent a night in York, in the comfort of Julia's lovely home. Julia and her family are charming. Their home is a beautifully decorated townhouse. I had major house envy!
Airbnb guests get a cosy bedroom on the top floor with exclusive use of a spacious shower room and WC. The bed and shower were both top notch.
I would heartily recommend Julia's place to anyone visiting York.
My stay was absolutely perfect! My host family was so kind and very helpful with my questions about York. My room was clean, comfortable, and warm with lots of wonderfully fluffy feather pillows. Julia's house is an easy and pleasant walk to city center with several routes to choose from you can take different routes and see different parts of the city. I also really appreciated having a private sitting room in which to hang out and read or eat my take-away it was a definite bonus that I had not counted on. Will definitely stay with them again and look forward to exploring more of York.
About the Host, Julia
We love living in York and make good use of its many cultural attractions. We are into music, politics and current affairs and I am a trustee of a local community space. I grew up by the sea and return as often as I can. We travel regularly and prefer the 'make it up as you go along' approach. If money was no object we would live in Venice.
