You have a private bathroom on the floor below and there is a quiet drawing room for your use on the ground floor. With your own key you can come and go as you please - very much your own space. Our traditional home in central York is over 120 years old. It is easy going, relaxed and friendly. We are lucky to live in York's most fashionable area with a great range of local cafes, shops, restaurants and traditional pubs. Truly unique for this city and as travellers ourselves we know these small things really count.
Check out our great reviews for amazing local breakfast and late night food options right on your doorstep. We don't currently provide breakfast.
There's a well stocked store open until midnight seven days a week and we particularly recommend the local fish and chips. Life just couldn't be easier!
Only a few minutes' walk from the medieval centre, old city walls and the rail and bus stations the location is superb. No waiting for taxis, buses or long walks back after a long day seeing the sights. As lifelong 'Yorkies' we have endless personal recommendations, maps and guidebooks waiting for you.
If you love to cycle, we are on the local and national cycle networks with very easy access to all York attractions, universities and colleges. Bicycles can be hired locally and secure safe parking is provided.
There is a bus stop outside our house for those exploring further afield. The York Tour bus passes by and you can hop on and off as you please. Be sure to wave!
Across the road is a riverside park with a fabulous reading café and the renowned York racecourse with amazing Saturday morning flea market is nearby (people come from all over Europe for this).
On departure, don't be carrying bags around. Pick them up later en-route to the nearby rail and bus stations.
We are open to ideas so get in touch and we will seek to accommodate. We have hosted lots of world travellers, students, academics, workers, couples, single travellers, honeymooners and cyclists in recent months and received 100 per cent amazing reviews.
If you'd like to check out the local scene search: 'oneandother' and 'bishyroad'.
Come and go as you please with your own key. Your room is on the top floor and private bathroom on the floor below. We currently do not offer access to cooking facilities or provide breakfast, though feel free to store things in our fridge (There is a great range of excellent cafes within 100 metres). Downstairs doors are often shut for child safety reasons so don't be afraid to knock if you'd like to talk with us.
