About This Listing
Your chance to stay in an award winning house that combines a loft style main house and a private, separate guest house with a Japanese bath house vibe accessible to the main house through an interconnecting courtyard; a great sun trap in which to stretch out on a bean bag and read or just chill out.
Internationally renowned Canadian architect and critic Charles Jenks who is to architecture what Jeremy Clarkson is to cars thought it 'wonderfully naive and enjoyable'
Both sleeping spaces come complete with their own bathrooms; in the case of the guest house, a Japanese ofuro- style bath.
It comes complete with cosy under floor heating, fully equipped kitchen, 2 cable TVs, a DVD player and a great sound system to connect to your MP3 player.
Linen and towels are provided as is cutlery, as well as cooking and eating utensils.
The house is located in a quiet residential street about 25 mins walk from the city centre, 15 mins walk from the main train station, DART and LUAS (light rail and tram systems respectively) and BUSARAS, Dublin’s main bus station, all of which can take you to many destinations both in and around the city and beyond.
If you don’t wish to walk there feel free to take one of the many buses that pass closeby every 3 minutes or so at peak times, 5 thereafter.
The coast road to scenic Bull Island and Dollymount Strand is only 5 minutes walk through nearby Fairview Park.
The charming fishing village of Howth, renowned for its restaurants and bars, only 25 mins from the nearby DART station makes for an ideal day trip.
On street, free parking is available outside the house for car users. The house is only 5 mins from the airport by car or Airport Bus through the nearby Port Tunnel. It is also about 5 minutes drive from Dublin Port Ferry terminal.
The house offers a unique opportunity to stay in a calm, relaxing house removed from the noise and bustle of the immediate city centre but yet close by and easily accessible by foot or public transport.
No smoking in the house or guest house please. There is a great courtyard between the two buildings that's fit for this purpose.
Please be considerate to the neighbours; it's a quiet residential area comprised mainly of family occupied dwellings, so no parties please!
Please note and observe the bin collection and recycling arrangements outlined in the house manual.
While the house is located in a safe and secure residential area, I would ask guests to observe common sense when it comes to basic security regarding the locking of doors etc. at night and whilst away from the house.
Thank you for your cooperation.
We had a fab time in Pat's house. Such a great feel when you walk in & so different to anything we are used to. It had everything we needed & we loved having a shower & looking up to the sky! We spent lots of time chilling on the lazy boy beanbag in the courtyard, very relaxing & perfect sun trap. It is well located, close enough to walk to bars & restaurants but also far enough away from the hustle & bustle of central Dublin. We'd definitely stay again. Thank you for being a great host Pat!
Pat made our exzellent trip to Dublin to something very special. His house is a very nice modern surprise. Pat filled the fridge with everything we needed for breakfast and there were a lot of fruits for us. We were there with four persons what should be the highest number of guests. Everything was excellent for us. When we come back to Dublin we will choose Pats House again. The Center of Dublin is very easy to reach Byte Bus in Five minutes.
We have had a great time in Pats apartment. It is well located, close to the city center, with grocery stores on the way in case you need something. You can reach the city either with the bus, the station is around the corner or you can take a 15minutes walk. The apartment is big enough to feel at home, and both double beds are really comfortable. Pat is a great host- we got to the apartment very late because of our flight, and were very thankful that we had some scones & fruits on the table waiting for us. Pat also gave us useful information about Dublin, which helped us to plan our days. I really can recommend Pats apartment. Thank you again Pat:-)
Pat was there exactly on time as promised. We got there after a long flight and there was breakfast food available for us to consume, fruits, bacon, coffee etc. He was very warm and took his time explaining to us about the house and what we can do in and around Dublin. The teens enjoyed the vibe of the place, with great surround sound speakers, candles at night, Nespresso coffee and very dependable internet :) Great location to Dublin city center, quiet neighborhood, and awesome Asian restaurants within walking distance that also made home deliveries.
Pat was extremely polite and nice. He made us feel very welcome upon arrival (very nice to walk in and find scones waiting for us!). The house is a a very nice place to spend your holidays in; great design, very unique and we had more than everything we needed. Pat's book collection was very impressive too!
We had a great stay at Pat's flat. His home is really cool and was a fab place to relax in. It's a great location if you want to be a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still close enough to walk into town. There are also lots of buses and taxis were cheap enough.
We were two couples and it worked out really well because the second bedroom is in a little annex so you get a bit of privacy if you want it. You need to be pretty comfortable with the people you're staying with because there's no door to the shower room or the toilet in the annex! There is plenty of room though so it wasn't a problem.
Pat was really generous and had left us lots of provisions as well as all the towels and bedding and everything we needed. He wasn't able to meet us but his sister was there to welcome us and tell us about how to work everything etc.
I would really recommend Pat's place if you want to stay somewhere a bit different but also peaceful.
