Our Neighborhood

Located right in the heart of Portland on the historic Deering St - - a registered historic district. The property itself is a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1876. We have fully renovated the house. We include free WIFI and free off street parking. It is located 1 block from the Arts District / Longfellow Square. This home has everything to make your stay in Portland comfortable, fun and relaxing. One of the great things about this residential city street is "stooping". On any given evening, you can see neighbors with wine and cheese sitting out on their front stoop. The Old Port, arts district, and main shopping areas are all walking distance. Down the hill is the Deering Oaks Park (Saturday Farmers Market, children's outdoor theater, ice skating, wading pool, and brand new children's playground). For the foodie, there is no better place than Portland with all of its award winning restaurants and chefs right within walking distance. For those who love the outdoors, skiing, fishing, hiking, etc all within a close drive. Finally, LL Bean and the Freeport outlets are only 20 minutes away.

The house - This 3 story house is very spacious and can accommodate up to 6 people very comfortably. With 10 foot ceilings, exposed brick and period detailing, the house provides a wonderful way to relax after exploring Portland.

The first floor has a wide open kitchen with, granite counter tops and a breakfast nook. Off of the dining area there is a large deck, furnished with comfortable sturdy newly constructed furniture with gas grill in a private / fenced back yard. A screened pergola provides outdoor space with protection from mosquitos. The full dining room is off the kitchen which then connects to a TV room.

The second floor has a large bedroom/office with a queen size bed and a full bath with claw-foot deep soaking tub. Laundry is also on the second floor.

The third floor has a large master bedroom (queen size bed), a good sized bedroom with full size bed and master bath with whirlpool soaking tub.

Noise - The house tends to be very quiet. However, There are other tenants in their own apartments (separate entrance and space). Please note, we cannot be responsible for the time the sea gulls get up!

The bedrooms - We provide clean linens on all beds as well as towels for each guest. In the summer months, a window or portable air conditioner is installed in each room.

We are DC transplants to Portland and love the area. We are happy to suggest and help with your planning if you have questions!

The Neighborhood

Our street is one of the most beautiful streets in Portland. Walking distance from some amazing food, fun and art, our street is tree lined and quiet. (Not suburban cul-de-sac quiet, but still residential feeling.) Our neighbors are friendly and helpful. This is a great location to base your exploration of Portland.

Getting Around

A bus stop one block from our house connects you to the train/bus station in one direction and to the Eastern Promenade (fabulous ocean views and small beach with kayaking).
A friendly bike shop right behind our house rents bikes and helmets for $25/day.
