Amazing Location - Studio Apartment

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Deering Street, Portland, ME 04101, United States

Sun filled studio apartment - a large room that can sleep 4-6, dining table and kitchenette. Shared full bath and half bath. Walking distance to arts district and Old Port. Free Wifi & parking possible. Great base for Portland & Maine adventure!

The Space

The studio apartment: The studio is located on the second floor. (17 stairs from 1st to 2nd floor.) It has a private entrance that allows for guests to enter and exit the house without going to the living space of the owners. The room can accommodate up to 6 people but I would say 4+kids would be more comfortable. The apartment is one room that includes a queen sized bed, a loft queen sized bed above that one (which requires climbing a short ladder), a futon that opens up to a full bed, a kitchenette and a dining table. It shares a full bathroom with another rented private room. There is another half bath on the first floor that can be used by all guests. It is also accessible without entering the family's living space.

The house: - The house is "brownstone" style. There are 11 steps from the sidewalk to the front door. This is a bright, sunny room with a lot of windows. It overlooks the front, tree-lined street. !

We also have second listing in this property that is for a private room.
We are happy to try to accommodate last minute bookings and late arrivals. Contact us to see what we can do!

Noise: - The studio is located in our home where we live with our three year old daughter. She is well behaved (and we are not just saying that!), but she is a little kid. We do have a second rental on the same floor. Quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am. We cannot, however, be held responsible for the time the sea gulls get up!

The full bathroom - It is fully renovated and spacious. It is a "Jack n Jill" between your studio and the other rental (a private room). Each room has a door into the bathroom, so you do not need to go into the hall to enter it. It is only a shared bathroom if the other room is rented as we do not use this bathroom. We have also put in an on demand hot water system, so there is always plenty for everyone!

Half bathroom - On the first floor, just under the stairs there is another half bathroom that you can use.

All Guests agree to indemnify and hold the Property Owners harmless from any liability for personal injury or property damage sustained by Guest or parties invited onto the property by Guest.

Guest Access

The studio apartment is accessed through a shared front door which has an electronic lock so no key is necessary. (Guests are asked to keep this door locked at all times) Guests will get to rental spaces through common hallway and staircase, but never have to enter into the living space of our family. We have no time restrictions for comings and goings, but we do have quiet hours from 10pm and 7am.

There is parking available in our driveway on a first come first served basis. Guests who park in the driveway are required to leave their key so that anyone parked in front of them can move their car out (and back in).

Interaction with Guests

We love to meet our guests to get to know them a bit and show them to their room, so please ring the door bell when you arrive. We also realize that travel plans can change and so we also have made it very easy for guests to let themselves in when we are not available. We are very happy to answer any questions you have about Portland and the house. Guests are given our phone numbers and can also knock on our door to get in touch with us.

The Neighborhood

Location: We are located on Deering Street - a registered historic district. The property itself is a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1876. We have fully renovated the house. We are located 1 block from Longfellow Square - the beginning of the Arts District. Since we are right in the central area of the peninsula you can walk to Portland's great restaurants, bars, cafes and old port.

Getting around

Our house is within walking distance from the Arts District and the Old Port.

A bike shop directly behind our house rents bikes and helmets for around $25 / day.

A city bus stop is located a block away.

A shared car through U-haul services is parked two blocks away.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • The Studio apartment was clean and beds comfortable. Excellent location in Portland. Nice French restaurant 5 min walk away and 15 min stroll to the wharf region. Clear instructions on entry into their home. Thank-you.

  • Totally comfortable, convenient, pleasant place to spend one night or many!

  • Our stay was excellent! The room is cozy and super well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The recommendations that Barbara and Robert provided were also incredibly helpful since most of us had never visited Portland previously. Hot Suppa! was delicious.

  • I loved this place and it was so much better than I was even expecting. It's a beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood within walking distance to EVERYTHING. It's really near to Holy Donut (amazing Maine potato donuts-my favorite was the pomegranate) and Bintliff's (I had a jaw-dropping Maine lobster eggs benedict).

The room was small but there were beautiful windows that made it feel more open and the bed was a king-sized bunk bed. I really loved that and now want my boyfriend to build one for me. The shared bathroom didn't cause us to have any issues.

  • Sweet little place! Easy to find, check in, all that. Barbara and Robert left clear instructions about arrival and stay and LOTS of helpful advice about things to do in the neighborhood. The studio is on the second floor of a beautiful old brick townhouse and though it is technically part of their house (no separate entrance) it feels very private. We had 4 in the room and plenty of space. It's very well set up. Shared bath with other let room on the same floor, but that was absolutely fine. They've devised a good system for sharing!

  • Their studio apt is a great place to spend a weekend. You can walk anywhere you want to from their place and it is easily accessible. I already want to come back and stay again when it is a little warmer outside.

    February 2014
  • This was our second visit to Portland, and we intentionally made plans to stay in this studio apartment again. The family is welcoming and the space comfortable and well-appointed. Great location for a walking tour...even when it's freezing out! We had a wonderful time and would recommend Barbara and Robert any time.

    February 2014
  • I was up in Portland for a show then spent the night with a few friends at Barbara and Robers AirBNB. The bed was comfortable and we had plenty of room for four of us. Great location - we would stay here again!

    February 2014
  • Great place, cozy studio. I enjoyed the free driveway parking and walking access to downtown Portland (even in the bitter cold temperatures).

    January 2014
  • Perfect for our needs - great location near to downtown, clean and spacious living area, and very friendly hosts. If ever we are back in Portland we will be sure to stay here again!
