As featured in Time Out’s ‘10 best Airbnbs near Los Angeles’, our award winning cabin provides an authentic Scandinavian aesthetic and ergonomic smart spatial design all located within a canyon setting. An A-frame glass window frames the scene: uninterrupted views across Topanga imbuing a sense of peace. This is a 'retreat like' experience you'll (hopefully) remember. A relaxing space to decompress, read and disconnect.
The space
The room has a European - slightly larger than full - bed (two singles pushed together) which has a plush mattress protector that sits on both mattresses to ensure one comfy bed. We use organic cotton sheets. Heat & air is provided using an Ecoflow system. The cabin's ergonomic designs use the smaller space wisely with a few shelves dotting the walls. We have purposefully left it uncluttered and minimal. The front of the cabin has been enclosed by a redwood fence and a deck with outdoor cushions. Globe string lighting lights up the space. To the side of the cabin is a partly covered OUTDOOR bathroom. A door leads into a half enclosed space where there is a COMPOST toilet, followed by copper facet sink and then at the end a fully outdoor copper shower under the stars. A fully enclosed private fenced deck is where the sunken heated hot tub is situated in front of the cabin, down the path and nestled under the rocks for a sunset soak and tranquility.
Guest access
Please note, the cabin is NOT in an isolated or rural location and does have neighboring houses either side. It is also situated just the other side of the path from our main home where I live with my husband Ian and our dog Wizard. You may see us on the path or in parking area on occasion. During your stay, you will have sole access to the fenced off hot tub and deck area.
The cabin is sectioned off by a redwood fence, you'll have access to a courtyard outside the cabin and also you'll have sole access to the hot tub and deck.
Other things to note
Please note: There is no kitchen on site. Think of the cabin like a 'hotel room,', We do though provide coffee, tea, water, milk and a few snacks. There is a cooler outside the cabin door if you choose to bring anything and this is where you will find milk and water filter jug. We have glasses, mugs and a bottle opener inside the room for your convenience. If you would like to chill any food or drinks upon arrival advise picking up Ice - there is a convenience store at pine tree circle that sells it.
Please note we are in a semi-rural environment, not the wilderness. Houses dot the landscape and there are neighbors on either side of our property. Our main house is across the path from the cabin. If you are seeking complete isolation this is not for you :)
The cabin is designed to maximize natural light and a view through the large window as a result we provide eye masks for a good nights sleep.
We are still in the Canyon so little ants can sometimes appear depending on the season and if food is left in the cabin.
Please leave the robes, eye mask and other accessories in cabin. There will be a restocking fee of $100 should any of these items be taken. Thank you for your understanding.
The toilet is a COMPOST TOILET so sawdust is used instead of a flushing mechanism. And the shower is an OUTDOOR shower.
NO smoking anywhere on the property as we are in a high fire risk zone.
The road up to the cabin is windy so please drive slowly.
Please bring flip flops or sandals to get to and from the shower and hot tub.
