Hi, we are renting this apartment in the heart of the Chianti region, with a breathtaking panorama over the Chianti hills, the city of Siena and the landscape called "Crete Senesi". The apartment is located in an ancient complex restored above a hill. Me and my girlfriend we live in the same building with 3 more families. The position will allow you to arrive quickly at the main attractions nearby and to tour the Chianti region, using the streets and roads that wind through this splendid countryside, by now much sought after by travellers the world over. Siena is 10KM far from this place and it is easily reachable by car. The House has been totally restored recently and the forniture is new. We rent the entire apartment consisting in a living room on the ground floor fully equipped for breakfast, a bed room with a double bed, and a private garden outside. There is a fully equipped bathroom with shower upstairs and a little extra bathroom downstairs. We have two mountainbikes that we can lend to you for free if you like riding over the hills.
We will provide you all the indications to find this place easily and with no stress. We use to arrange a meeting point with our guests in an easy to find location where we can come to bring you home.
Perfect place, great hosts, and only downside is that we didn't stay there longer. Gracie!
Michele is a very generous host! His efforts to accommodate us went beyond what we expected--and we were so appreciative. He picked us up from the train station on Sunday as our rental car was not available and drove us the next day to the rental car office. He left us with recommendations for wineries and other places to visit while we were in town and the apartment was stocked with a bottle of wine, waters, fruit, coffee and plum cakes for our morning and afternoon nibbling. The apartment itself is very comfortable and clean--looking just like the photos. Loved it! Many thanks, Michele.
The spacious apartment is a good "base camp" to visit Siena. Even close enough to just go to Siena for dinner. We especially liked the views from the garden, which is equipped with both dining and relax chairs, and overlooks the country fields with the skyline of Siena in the distance.
The apartment has a beautiful view from the upper floor sleeping room window and when outside, but if the door on the ground floor is closed, there is no clear window with any outside view from the ground floor at all. So when weather is cold, the garden seating cannot be used, and the door needs to be closed, it feels a bit locked-up inside.
This ground floor room has a dining table with 8 dining chairs, but no comfortable sitting chairs, nor a kitchen - the dishes need to be done in the bathroom sink. Breakfast is included – though a bit minimal, e.g., no yoghurt, muesli, or cheese.
Indeed, it is an amazing apartment in the countryside. Perfect views and private garden with Tuscan charm, yet equipped with modern amenities. The apartment is very close by car to Siena. The nearby town centre is charming and has restaurants with amazing food.
Michele and Federica were perfect hosts - very thoughtful and quick to assist. They also stocked the apartment with plenty of food for us!
All in, our stay completely exceeded our expectations and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
Fantastic people and perfect accommodation, we couldn't have been happier with the place.
For those looking for key details:
-on site parking
-outdoor area for afternoon wine while enjoying the view
- the best bed we have had in Italy.
For those interested in the experience:
Perfect location in the heart of Tuscany, with local eateries and restaurants about 10 mins away. Picturesque views, lovely people, spotlessly clean accommodation. Look no further for your countryside break in Tuscany.
Richey below truly did say it all - and so accurately, that it is hard to know what to add. Our party of 4 arrived late after a rather unsettling experience with our rental car, and Michele kindly met us at an easy to find location and escorted us back to his beautiful, serene home. The minute we entered the door, we were enchanted with the beatifully appointed apartment and our car experience faded quickly. This spacious apartment is in a freshly renovated farmhouse, perfectly appointed and updated, yet still retaining all of its Tuscan charm. Michele took the time to suggest a perfect itinerary for each of two days of exploration of Tuscany. The apartment is perfectly located for exploring in all directions.
Our trip to Tuscany had been eagerly anticipated and reality measured far beyond our expectations. This apartment did as well. It is perfectly situated, incredibly spacious, and it was hard for us to have to leave. Beautiful as it appears in pictures, it is even more wonderful in reality. We highly recommend this apartment and are grateful to our hosts
My husband and I have just returned home after a very relaxing 6 night stay!
The property is beautifully renovated, very clean and comfortable. It is bigger than the photos suggest. Although there is no (email hidden) with coffee maker, kettle and a good sized fridge allow you to have breakfast and a cold meal at the property (croissants, bread for toasting, fruit, fruit juice and more were kindly restocked for breakfast each day). Michele pointed out good places to eat within a short drive too. A Michelin star restuarant is only 10 minutes drive away.
The outside area with table, chairs and sun loungers was perfect for relaxing whilst watching the sun set over Siena in the distance with a glass of wine (a bottle was also kindly provided on arrival)! It is a very peaceful area among farms but only 5 minutes drive to find shops/ restaurants.
Michele and his wife were very friendly & helpful hosts from the beginning, arranging to meet us nearby to locate the property and providing ideas for places to visit and eat.
We would recommend staying here!
Excelent experience. It was a highlight of our trip to italy. Michele and Federica were very welcoming. The house we stayed in was recently renovated. The bed linen was really nice. The bed very confortable. We were able to wash our clothes. The garden is beautiful and to have had a glass of wine watching the lovely surrounding gave us a taste of the real Tuscany.
Richy (the comment below me) sums it up nicely, all true!
The only thing I would like to add is that the pictures don't do the appt. justice, it's actually better looking when you are there --> it's all brand new.
also you have your own garden with canvas chairs to relax.
I can HIGHLY recommend this to anybody, it was a great airbnb experience.
Michele's place was absolutely perfect for our 4-day stay this July, 2013, and we would highly recommend their place to anyone looking for a countryside location in Tuscany.
First of all, Michele was extremely easy to communicate with (he speaks fluent English), and was quick to respond by text message and/or email. He and Federica met us as planned, showed us the apartment, and gave us excellent local suggestions - and left us some goodies to snack on. They were extremely hospitable and kind. And the apartment is well-stocked with plates, glassware, a coffee machine, fridge, breads, and jams.
The apartment itself is a modern duplex apartment in a historic larger farmhouse-type building. Though there were a few other residents living nearby, we barely saw or heard anyone else and it felt very private and secluded, and extremely safe. Michele and Federica live in an adjoining apartment and they rent this flat out occasionally. There is a full bathroom upstairs (near the bedroom) and a half bathroom downstairs - both are extremely modern with high-end fixtures. Water pressure was excellent and temperature was consistent. The wifi was super strong throughout, and there are plenty outlets all over to charge phones, etc. We used the modern washing machine to do some laundry - and though there's no dryer, the drying rack worked very well.
The location was exactly what we expected (and hoped for). It is door-to-door exactly 20 minutes to the west side of Siena (porta San Marco), and would be 10-15 minutes to the South or East gates. So it's close to get to the 'city', but you're in beautiful countryside perfect for a base camp to see the wine country and explore the little towns around. Montalcino is 45min to the South, Montepulciano 55min, and the hilltop towns of Chianti and its wineries just to the north. In fact, the famous Felsina is just a few minutes away in Castelnuovo Berardenga. The road connecting the farmhouse to the 'main road' is very quiet, perfect for running and biking (they have two mountain bikes that you can borrow). There is a coffee shop / small grocery store in any direction less than 10 minutes away. And you have an outdoor space with a covered table, chairs, and two lounge chairs.
You need a car to get to and from this place, but then again I think you need a car to properly see Tuscany - so why not sleep in the countryside, save money, explore the little towns... and when you want to get to Siena with its spectacular sights, it is just 15 minutes away. But you won't want to leave this place!
We loved this apartment - it was a perfect airbnb experience - and we look forward to returning in the future. Many thanks.
