The Space

The house where I was born and lived until 23's, is located on the third floor of a building with lift. It consists of 1 bedroom (double bed), 1 living room with television and a sofa bed formed of two separate beds, a living room-kitchen, 1 bathroom. Everything has been renovated to provide a practical accommodation, but without removing the tracks and some objects from the past and my history.Then, if you have children, I'll be happy to transform longue room with games , books and so on (look at photos!) according to their age.
In the Pigneto (modiva area), the building is anyway located in a quiet street. In the street there are two bars, one of these in the evening becomes a pub with live music and has Internet free with a special discount of 10% for my guests, on evrithing. Supermarket and every kind of shops are available in the street and around it. I also discovered a very nice shop that rent bicycle for guests that lenjoy cycling! Served very well by transport: a few meters from the palace is a bus to Termini Station, or, alternatively, a train to the Station Laziali and very near to another characteristic multietnic district of Piazza Vittorio. Not far away another bus leads to St. Peter (San Pietro), through the center of Rome. If necessary, the same bus also stops at San Giovanni to access the Metro A. For walkers lovers, the distance for St. John (San Giovanni) is about 2 Km.and fron there, you can coninue beginning the trip through the center of Rome passing from the Colosseum (another low Km). For those traveling by car, 30-40 minutes, can reach the characteristic area of the Castelli Romani (Frascati, Castel Gandolfo, Nemi, etc.).
Finally, the typical district of Pigneto, where different ethnic groups live side by side with the indigenous community, offers leisure and entertainment 24 hours on 24, with cinemas, restaurants, pub, bars, and during the day, you can find fruit & vegetables market and a library.

Guest Access

The whole house is available to my guests, with a fully equipped kitchen to live for a long time. In addition to the normal complement of linens and towels, pottery and pots you will find:
- Heating
- Air Conditioning
- Television with digital terrestrial;
- Hot water (for tea, herbal teas, etc.).
- A machine for American coffee, mocha and infusion;
- toaster
- Microwave oven;
- Hairdryer;
- Washing machine;
- Iron;
- drying rack;
- Ironing boards;
- Internet;
- Phone for emergencies or calls to request
- Toys and games for children;
- baby chair;
- baby potty
Finally, you will always find something to nibble and soaps in the bathroom

Interaction with Guests

I am always available for information and assistance of any kind, other than those due to the maintenance of the house. I never fail, according to avialability, to pick my guests up to the station and show them the surroundings, suggesting how and where to buy the best.
At home I always leave a printed copy of my guide, and information about public transport closer.

Getting around

How to get there:
From Fiumicino Airport the following options:
1) train to Termini Station: 11Euros - 25 min.

  • Lucilla is the most caring host and her apartment has everything one might need for a stay in a large and exciting foreign city. She gave us excellent recommendations about sites to see, transport to use and restaurants to enjoy. There is a supermarket nearby with unbelievable prices. Don't forget to buy porcini there before you fly back to your country. In duty-free store at the airport they would cost twice as much.
    If you decide to go to the airport by taxi, ask Lucilla to arrange it for you. The price is lower but dependability and service are superb.
    I highly recommend Lucilla's apartment for your Roman holidays.

  • Lucilla was SO nice!!! Picking us up from the train station and taking us on a mini tour to show us around the area goes above and beyond in my book! The apartment was great. Very cozy and comfortable! We really loved the neighborhood as well! There was an area down the street that was a market during the day and bars & restaurants at night. Loved it! I would stay there again in a heartbeat! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality Lucilla!

  • We just come back from Italy trip. We stay at Lucilla's place in Rome between 8-13 June 2014, for 5 nights.

    Nice, clean, and comfortable is our first thinking for Lucilla's place.

    When we booked her place, she offered us a taxi from Fiumicino airport to her place with an unbeatable price, from what we know. I suggest you to take it because it's really convenience when you travel with big luggages, lesser time, and pay less than Leonado Express when you travel more than 2 persons. No problem to find the driver, he waited for us and showed my name on a paper at the exit. When we arrived in front of the building, Lucilla was there.

    Her place is on the 3rd floor but an elevator is available. The building and room's security is good. The room is nice and clean. All you need is available, fridge, microwave, gas stove with 4 heads with fully kitchen equipment, washing machine, 5kg max capacity, and more. Air conditioning is also available in each room.

    I saw how she took care of her guests from things she prepared. There are some big bottle of water in the fridge, papers in kitchen and bathroom you may want, some biscuits cooked by herself, travelling map and bus stop nearby map, and some bus and tram routes which you may use on papers. We arrived on Sunday, the shop is close, she bought bus tickets for us. Without bus tickets, you couldn't get on the bus legally. She also showed me shops, supermarket nearby, cafe and good restaurants around her place after that, and also help us booking a taxi for the last day we departed. What you need the owner's renting room do for you more than this.

    Thank you very much Lucilla, you are most kind owner I has ever stayed with.

    Don't miss the view from kitchen's window. Look down, you will see two little beautiful garden yard. I watch them everyday. That's cool.

    Only one cons of her place is the location. Her place is about 5-10 minute walking from bus no. 105 bus stop and more for bus no.81 when you come back from the city. It takes about 30-45 minutes from Termini Station to the nearest bus stop by bus no.105, depends on traffic condition. However, the bus stop for no.105 to the city is very close, just a minute walking.

    In conclusion, I love this place and don't need to find another for the next trip to Rome.

  • Me and my mom stayed at Lucilla's place for a week in May. Lucilla was kind enough to pick us up from the airport and show us the local area before taking us to her flat. The flat has everything you need, including the towels, iron and ironing board and even a washing machine. Lucilla welcomed us with a nice fresh bread with olives and tomatoes, called Frescella and left us some fresh cherries for the week.

    The only downside that I could think of was the connection to the centre of Rome - there is a tram that takes you to Termini and a number of buses, but for a Londoner, public transport in Rome can be a bit of a nightmare since there is no schedules ;)

    But overall I would recommend staying at Lucilla's to anyone who's planning to visit Rome and get the feel for what it's like to live in this impressive city.

  • Thank you Lucilla! We loved staying at your place! It was a lovely place to return after a chaotic day in the city centre! It was nice to come 'home'. It was comfortable with my boyfriend and myself, and another friend. Spacious and fully equipped! The lists of recommendations really paid off as well. The 2 local pizza places were amazing! Thanks again for everything, including picking us up from the station and giving us a tour of the local area! I definitely recommend this warm place as a second home when in Rome!

  • Lucille actually hosted my parents, and she did a great job at it. I was very worried about them arriving at a faraway airport and she went to pick them up very kindly, she was very reassuring as to the preparation of their arrival, helped them to get around in the neighborhood and showed them how to reach the center and all. I thank her from my heart!

Ciao!
