The space

Podere (farm) Perelli is an absolutely unique place which lies just on top of the hill facing the Rocca d’Orcia tower and holds a breathtaking view of the vast and poetic senese landscape. An old farm, recently restored so that the neatness of modern architecture blends with the antique in a very powerful final result, the Podere Perelli mantains intact all the fascination of a typical Tuscan stone building.

With it’s five different units, transformed in elegant apartments refurbished with antique family furniture, the place has the looks of a small country village. The house is in the middle of a 62 acres farm, which produces bio olive oil with experimental methods and is surronunded by 25 acres of olive trees fields and a 37 acres woodland. A very fascinating place, it’s the ideal choice to spend quiet holidays, with a strong Nature all around, which makes this hidden spot of Tuscany an authentic paradise.

Beautiful scenic views! Angela recommended one of the best restaurants we ate in on our trip - we went twice!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The grounds are beautiful, and we felt very welcome. The position just outside Rocca d'Orcia and Castiglione d'Orcia is quiet and peaceful with spaces to explore, but yet it is easy to get into "town" for restaurants. We stayed in the Montalcino apartment (units 2 & 3). It was the only “self-catering” place we stayed in that provided tp, hand soap, shampoo and dish detergent (who’d have thought those would be luxuries!?) Only a couple negatives: the "family room" has a daybed rather than sofa, so it makes it a little less ideal for hanging out as a family in there. Only the bedrooms are air conditioned. There is a fan to help move the air around, but with the heat they were having while we were there, the kitchen and family room did stay on the warmer side (though our youngest daughter still chose to sleep on the daybed in the living room rather than share a bed with her sister, so clearly it wasn't intolerable). The patio for this unit is on the back side of the building - away from the view. The view is really spectacular, so if you want to have a patio with a view, ask when booking which units are available with view patios. There is a common patio as well, and the view from the pool is wonderful, too. We enjoyed the pool a lot. The whole pool (except for the entry stairs) is deep (about 1.5m), so if you have young kids, they might appreciate some swim floats/noodles so they don't have to tread water all the time. This is classic Tuscan countryside, and after four trips to Tuscany over 17 years, this became one of my favorite places to stay. It is close to several other southern Tuscan towns for great sightseeing and wine tasting, if you can pull yourself away!

Beautiful Property. Not that easy to find - as noted - but worth the trip to find it!! Rooms were immaculate. Breakfast was spectacular. Be sure to go to "Il Cerchio delle Streghe" for dinner - a short (5 minute) drive WITH PARKING for dinner. The young owners Julia and Allehandro (phonetic) are terrific and eager to please. Less than an hour to Siena, Montalchino and/or Montelpuchiano. Car is necessary.
