Funky north downtown guest suite for 1 or 2 with separate entry, Craftsman/Mission living room, claw tub and separate shower, sleeping pod/nook with queen size bed, internet, HBO, mini fridge and microwave, coffee and tea making supplies and equipment, breakfast bagels, toiletries, private, walkable.

The space

Cozy Craftsman/Mission style apartment for a maximum of 2 guests in an Italianate 1870's home in the historic North Downtown neighborhood. Our quiet, residential neighborhood is only a 5-minute, 3-block walk to the pedestrian downtown mall with its restaurants, music halls, and night life as well as the free trolley that will take you to the University of Virginia grounds, graduation and sporting events in no time without having to worry about parking! It is a convenient walk from both train and bus stations. It is also walkable to the several breweries becoming popular just several blocks away. The apartment has a separate entrance and driveway parking. We have many guests attending wedding events in the downtown, university, and vineyard areas.

The website Walk Score calls our home a "Walker's Paradise" with a score of 97 for its downtown location and access to transit. It's also a perfect place for day trips to the nearby countryside's historic sites, wineries, and breweries, followed by an evening of downtown restaurants and music.

This guest suite provides a unique sleeping pod bedroom (comfy queen bed), living room with wi-fi, HDTV, digital cable with HBO, Showtime, and sports channels, your own private bathroom with fresh towels, slate floor, claw-foot bath tub and separate shower. The ground floor bedroom window provides natural light but is secured for the protection of our guests. There is a window air conditioner in the adjacent living room and I provide an extra floor fan and a portable radiator in winter months to supplement the Swedish radiators. The bathroom is up two steps from the living and sleeping areas. We provide a hairdryer, shampoo, soap, iron and ironing board. Furnishings include Stickley-era settle and chair and vintage 1960's Arabia Finnish pottery.

Also provided are a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, French press, and electric tea kettle; there is no full kitchen so guests enjoy the many wonderful restaurants nearby for dining. See the Cville Weekly for info on our foodie town. Our guest suite is not suitable for cooking or cleaning up after "real meals" but is equipped for guests who enjoy the convenience of "snacks" at home or a simple breakfast. Complementary Bodo's bagels or breakfast breads and cream cheese for the first morning and locally roasted, fresh coffee and tea bags for self-brewing will make sure you start your day on the right foot. All glass, plastic, metal, and paper products that we provide or that guests leave behind are recycled. We use Sheex for bed linens but have cotton ones available in the cupboard. The couch is not a sleeper.

We provide our guests a high degree of privacy and often provide self check-in and self check-out for the convenience of our guests. Still, we are just a text, voice or email message away to take care of any questions or unanticipated needs.

Charlottesville's 7% Occupancy Tax is included in the nightly fee.

We loved our stay here! The apartment is walkable to the Downtown Mall. We definitely plan on coming back if ever in Charlottesville again. The bagels were a nice touch! Thanks!

The location is perfect for walking access to the Downtown Mall, Farmer's Market, etc. Michael has thoughtfully provided everything you might need - including fresh bagels and cream cheese on arrival. There's a nice outdoor table and chairs for a late night glass of wine.

This place was awesome! Right by all the action in the downtown mall. We had a great time walking around and checking out all of the restaurants. The suite/apartment itself was very cozy and comfortable-- we really appreciated the bagels and coffee! Definitely would stay here again if we come back to Charlottesville

I have travelled extensively in Europe and Latin America for the last couple of years. Wherever I travelled, I always met kind, gracious hosts. Since returning home to Virginia, I have enjoyed playing the "host" role with Airbnb guests. I am a Charlottesville native who attended undergraduate school in Maine and I am currently in law school. I will be happy to arrange your visits but at times have some help from family and trusted friends to make sure your stay is comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable.
